Wow, This is Rich

  • In his 47 years, one of John Harris' biggest regrets, his lawyer said Wednesday, is what he did in 2005.

He took a job with one Rod R. Blagojevich.

"Working for Gov. Blagojevich was an extraordinarily difficult thing to do for the most honest of public servants, which John Harris is," said Harris' attorney, Terry Ekl.

  • Throughout Harris' 26-page plea deal, prosecutors repeatedly say Harris warned his ex-boss against wrongdoing or simply refused to carry out Blagojevich's orders because Harris believed they were illegal.
Did Harris notify the Feds? Did Harris enlist the help of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan? Did Harris file any briefs with the Federal hiring monitor or anyone else actively investigating the corrupt practices of Blago? In fact, since everyone now knows that there were a number of wires recording everything Blago said and did, is there even a single instance of Harris stepping up to the plate on tape and saying, "This corruption must stop!"

We didn't think so.

Harris got nailed dirty and we can only hope that as part of the plea deal, the feds put his balls in a vice and started asking questions about local corruption. Because any deviation from the truth regarding any question put to Harris means his plea deal is out the window and he's looking at some lengthy federal time. And Harris didn't move from CPD Brass (civilian) to Daley budget director to Aviation Chief to Blago chief-of-staff without being party to a whole bunch of questionable shit.

In an on-the-fly interview, Harris' attorney evaded (badly) answering a direct question as to Harris' giving information on OTHER corruption he encountered in his prior positions. He did say that Harris answered truthfully, every question on EVERY subject that had been asked of him.

This is getting interesting. Maybe our new mayor will give us a contract.

For the second time I got a spar kicked back to me with a note telling me to raise the recommendation from reprimand to 1 day off. Nothing electronic. Just a note. I am told the reason this is now being done is that officers were winning griveances because of differing dicipline recommendations. Now, the electronic record shows that all superviors are in agreement with the recommendation. What a joke!!! First, the commander is now taken out of the equation because the deputy has to approve the recommendation and second the deputy's name never appears on this electronically.

Good luck out there being the police.

Not a chance, I'm done being the police, they will cut you loose to the wolves in a heartbeat.

I tried to type in my own comments the last time I got a SPAR, I wanted to put in there how ridiculous it was and I wanted those few sentences in there in addition to my mere "acceptance" of the recommendation.

The Sgt. said I couldn't do that, I could only accept or decline the recommendation. I said show it to me in an order, prove it. He couldn't of course. I said then he would have to order me to accept the SPAR as is and then I would refuse the order. My wording stayed in there in a comments box and now cannot be erased.

Don't take shit from these meathead clout fuck supervisors. Be polite but don't let yourself get rolled over. Know your rights and then stand up for them. The shitheads that go in back frequently know their rights better than we officers know ours.

Just read a book by Elizabeth Brackett called Pay to Play about Blago. Not a bad summary of the whole crime spree as Fitz called it.

One of the only new things I learned in the book was that when the Feds showed up on that December morning, Blago ran in place in his jogging suit, did some stretching exercises, and then "stunned the agents by lying down in the fetal position. He went through this strange routine several times without saying a word".

What an image.

Sounds like he is establishing a scenario utilizing the "Roland Burris Defense"... if you don't ask the question, then I won't mention it, and therefore, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!

It's a common Illinois corruption procedure brought to light during the Blagojevich impeachment hearings.
1) You are brought in to testify on corruption.
2) You know about specific corruption that investigators would want to uncover.
3) You know the investigators don't know about this specific corruption so you opt not to tip them off about it or even mention it.
4) You now wrap yourself in the "truth" that since the investigator didn't ask you about the specific corruption you had knowledge of but they did not, that you have no ethical or moral responsibility to reveal it.

It's the kind of ethical and moral standards that pass for honesty and transparency in this shithole of a state... for proof of this, just look at what our trusted legislators did to the recommendations brought forth by Gov Quinn's blue ribbon reform commission.

Before I retired, I did 17 years as a sergeant. It was my experience that some of the most treacherous creatures you will ever find in the CPD, are the PO's working for the exempts who review the CR's and SPAR's that travel through the chain of command.

These people are generally clout babies who are not, nor ever were "real" street cops, have big egos like their bosses, and take great pleasure in giving "directions" to police supervisors.

Once, as I appealed to the a District Commander about a CR that was kicked back by "his guy", I was told that if this PO ever gave me "instructions" I was to "treat it as if it were a direct order from him", (the Commander). His guy was a moron, but, truth be told, so was the DC.

I never tended to just shut-up and do what I was told when dealing with these goofs. I eventually lost my tact team and got launched out of 015. Ouch!

Not long ago, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, (D-Daddy's Little Girl), announced she was going to investigate the City of Chicago's lease of the City's parking meters. When asked if the Mayors' actions or involvement in any illegality would be investigated, an aide said no that only the contract and leasing company were under investigation.

How nice that the # 1 law enforcement official in the state won't go after the Stuttering Prick criminally EVEN IF EVIDENCE EXISTS that he is complicit in any wrongdoing.

This would seem to contradict recent TV news reporters evaluations of her job performance that she's done a "good job" as AG.

Also, what ever hapened to the 8 million for the aiport police station?? They got stuck in a old cargo building instead, and that does not meet safety or building code. Also, the city rented out half the building to a "freind of the mayor" over police objections!

The Sun-Times reports: City Hall is breaking its month-to-month lease for a warehouse that Mayor Daley's nephew and his partners bought with city pension funds.

When RMD became Mayor, he craftily civilianized the position of Deputy Superintendent of the Bureau of Administrative Services, thereby creating his direct representative within the Department. By doing so, RMD installed a set of eyes and ears and a mouthpiece within the command staff of the Department of Police.

John Harris was one of the civilians to occupy the position. He came from Aviation and was the Deputy Superintendent of Administrative Services at Police from 1993 to 2000, then he returned to Aviation and subsequently moved to City Hall before quitting and taking a job with Blago.

After Harris left the Department in 2000, Barbara MacDonald was appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of the Bureau of Administrative Services.

Because he gets to make more connections in hopes for him to keep getting promoted. That, and to keep some of the money he raises for his campaign funds. How much did Lil Richie get kicked back from Oracle to buy this overpriced, substandard system? All this shit was brokered and implimented by jagoff John Harris.

Best part of his time here on CPD was when he was asked by John Townssend (1st D/S) why CHRIS wasn't working, he gave Townsend some smart-ass answer and a smug smile and Townsend started to kick his ass right in a hallway at HQ.

Once, when asked if he was going to attend an upcoming fundraiser for the family of a recently murdered on duty P/O, his answer was "Didn't the City give his wife enough money already?"

For you who may not remember back in the day a young John Harris arrived out of city hall with a mandate as the very first civilian Deputy Superintendant of Adminstrative services to get rid of as many full duty white shirt bosses as he could so Daley could put his civilian hires in their place. Why? Because Irish payback comes like a fist in a velvet glove. The sworn members via FOP did not endorse the mayor for reelection some months prior and payback was crafted to inflict as much pain to as many police from top down as da mayor could do without saying a word publicly. I was working on AFIS project so was immune until projects end. But saw the heads roll for the better part of the year under young john harris. Pure evil, as the department went into a complete downward spiral that continues til this day. Deputy Harris of course has been politically rewarded over and over while doing dirty deeds...so he has a lot to spill on the mayor and his southside thugs running city business...the Ohare gig he did after Townsend provides great corrupt deals to expose. Hell, Harris should nearly be holding enough to get out of jail free. Follow his career! lol Cloutless oldie Sgt

BOENDER'S DONATIONS

Since 1997, Calvin Boender -- the developer accused of bribing Ald. Isaac
Carothers (29th) to win zoning approval for a development on the Far West Side
-- has contributed, along with his businesses, wife and partners, a total of
$199,100 to political funds controlled by these 20 politicians:

Ald. Ike Carothers (29th) $53,700

Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke $40,500

U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) $32,500

Ald. Edward M. Burke (14th) $17,000

Former Ald. Billy Ocasio (26th) $11,000

Ald. Ricardo Munoz (22nd) $8,500

Cook County Judge Anita Rivkin-Carothers $6,000

Former Ald. Ted Matlak (32nd) $4,200

Cook County Judge Carol Howard $3,500

Ron Paul, former presidential candidate $3,300

Ald. Emma Mitts (37th) $3,000

Ald. Ed Smith (28th) $3,000

Sandra Reed, a former 46th Ward aldermanic candidate $2,200

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich $2,000

Ald. William Banks (36th) $2,000

Ald. Walter Burnett (27th) $1,500

Former Gov. George Ryan $1,000

Cook County Commissioner Roberto Maldonado $500

Former Ald. Burton Natarus (42nd) $400

Boender made a 37 percent profit on the land, which he had owned for about six
years, city records show.

Now, a federal investigation has the deal in the spotlight.

Boender's old property is part of Galewood Yards -- a 50-acre development at the
heart of the recent federal indictment against Boender and Ald. Isaac Carothers,
whose 29th Ward includes a sizable chunk of the development.

...but you can belong to an organized street gang and bring a loaded sawed-off shotgun -- a "weapon of mass destruction," as the Mayor and his allies would call it -- into a crowded public celebration and nothing federal happens, despite all the noise about "Operation Exile" and the "gun crime hits home" radio ads and the threatening billboards depicting prison cells.

How about it?

You'd think that you could get someone off dead center on this -- but, then, that's what we thought when they found 175 grams of cocaine and four illegal guns in
Deputy Superintendent Beatrice Cuello's condominium.

Ha.

It's obviously preferable for the City of Chicago to be constantly publicly mocked and goaded by people who are never, ever going to stop reminding them than to actually see justice done.

It's true. There was a fax sent to some of the districts outlining the agreement. They have to vote for ratification on the 16th, 17th and 18th. 6.25% would take effect 01 AUG. 3% takes effect on 01 JAN 10.

The fax didn't mention the loss of retro pay, but it's part of the deal. With the 9.25% raise the estimated 26 days they would be forced to take off are more valuable than the days being paid for retroactively. To be honest it's probably the best deal they could get from the stuttering prick. At least they keep their jobs.

Bull shit! first of all when doing a spar you now have to complete the spar first and before presenting it to the officer, send a copy to the deputy chief's office to see if he approves of it. If he gives his ok than you can present it to the officer and have it go thru the normal channels. This is because Sgt's and Lt's were not hammering officers with enuff days, and where as before you could get a second repremand for something they now want it done progressive by the numbers. Great for morale

Also, what ever hapened to the 8 million for the aiport police station?? They got stuck in a old cargo building instead, and that does not meet safety or building code. Also, the city rented out half the building to a "freind of the mayor" over police objections!

Gold chain. Gotta have that gold chain to accent the chest hair. Gold "Rolex" to be worn on the OUTSIDE of the shirt cuff to make sure no one misses it. After all, clothes make the man!

I wonder if this was the same one I used to see around Pratt/California. Had a really crummy little 2-door white sewing machine of a car, but he'd gone to the hardware store and bought stick-on letters to improve it. On each front fender, he'd stuck "5.0." Across the back of the trunk lid, on one side of the gas cap, it said "PLAY." On the other side, it said "BOY."

Shoulda seen him at the stoplight; a split-second before the light could even change, he was hammering on the horn and shouting out the window. Something on the order of "Many American womens paying me to sex and you making it me late for to service them. Cost it money!"

Thank you, Cong. Emanuel Celler, for working so hard to tear up America's immigration laws. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Hell, I'm proud when I see a bunch of illegal polacka on a residential side street working fast and furious to try to get an SUV, a factory's worth of power tools, and a whole bunch of other luxus consumer shit jammed into a 20-foot container before the morning pickup. Never see that car again. Warsaw Express, by way of Calumet Harbor...
