- In a surprise twist Wednesday, attorneys for an Oak Lawn man on trial on charges of killing a drug customer he believed had robbed him blamed a former Chicago police officer for the murder, saying he was extorting thousands of dollars in protection money from the defendant.Nevarez's attorney, Stuart Goldberg, said Finnigan suspected Eric Kaminski, a drug customer of Nevarez's, after a print found at the home matched Kaminski. On Finnigan's instructions, Nevarez arranged for Kaminski to meet him at the home of Nevarez's father in the 2200 block of West Coulter Avenue, Goldberg told jurors.
In opening remarks at the trial of Daniel Nevarez, his lawyer contended that Chicago cop Jerome Finnigan had sought payment from Nevarez only to learn he had been robbed of $40,000 in cash and about 4 ½ pounds of marijuana and couldn't come up with the money.
When Kaminski arrived in February 2004, Finnigan shot him, to the horror of Nevarez, Goldberg alleged.
"He said, 'What the [expletive] did you just do? You killed someone in my father's house,'" Goldberg quoted Nevarez as saying. "Officer Finnigan dug the bullets out, as an experienced person would do, and said, 'Dig him a grave, [expletive], or you're going to be the next one.'"
At the bond hearing in January 2008, the defense blamed Kamiski's girlfriend for the killing to cover up an alleged affair she was having with Nevarez. Now out of left field, this crap? We certainly expect to see some proof of this defense allegation - we're pretty sure that lawyers, while expected to defend their clients to the best of their abilities, aren't allowed to make up bullshit in an effort to create reasonable doubt. If proven, this would put this scandal beyond anything Chicago has ever experienced.

U.S. Attorney Peter Fitzgerald will hold a press conference tomorrow morning to announce the indictment of former police officer Jerome Finnigan as the infamous "second shooter" of President John F Kennedy!
Finnigan is alleged to have been the armed gunman who was positioned behind the fence on the grassy knoll. The indictment states Finnigan fired 3 fatal rounds in perfect unison with Lee Harvey Oswald, killing the president. Finnigan, who was just a few months old at the time of Kennedy's death, has been positively identified by two witnesses who stated he fired the rounds from his baby carriage.
Finnigan is also considered an un-named co-conspirator in the deaths of Abe Lincoln, Julius Ceasar and Jesus of Nazarath.

Stuart Goldberg is slime. He reminds me of the character that Sean Penn played in Carlito's Way. He is a below average (mostly) dope-boy attorney. If memory serves me he got caught by the Feds trying to get large amounts of money out of one of his clients storage locker. He said it was a fee. The Feds kept the money. He was so mixed up with that scum that he was lucky to not get indicted himself. That's the same guy, right? BTW, he has an incredibly ugly rug that he places on top of his head.

Lawyers have always made up stories for the defendants. First time I found out about it, I was wearing a suit instead of a uniform and got stuck standing in the back of the courtroom. Culd not help but overhear the lawyer "coaching" his client.

seems to be true. i did a usm of 008 the other night and i saw an 806 car, 861 car, and 859 car all detailed to 811/812's beats. along with 811 and 812 only being assigned to jobs on their beats!
i have shot a few deer and in gutting them have NEVER recovered the projectile.

I recently had the opportunity to see pictures of the academy golf outing. To my complete disgust , I saw a federally convicted drug dealer in one of the pictures. (Rick Marrella-well known in the 8th district). My friend, who is not part of the academy did not know whose guest he was. I know that police officers are not allowed to socialize with convicted felons so who had the nerve to bring him to a police function?

The attorney made an opening statement stating that the recruit was killed by a shot fired by his FTO! And then presented no evidence to support such a statement. I believe that this is the ultimate insult that you can make to a law enforcement officer, to state that a policeman killed another policeman. And then leave it out there with no evidence. SCC and all of us have to understand that when you are in the jury box you are under oath and the defense attorney IS NOT.

--Ridiculous the way they dispatch jobs. Was dispatched a job and while I was on that job I received another job and another job and another job. Wasn't finished with the first one and they loaded me with 3 more jobs. WTF? Well I ended up with an arrest so the jobs had to be reassigned anyway :) Put em back on the board for someone else. I can only handle one job at a time.

Fucked? Me? Hardly. The citizen that might REALLY need the police, mixed in with all the bullshit calls, is the one getting fucked, by the bullshit callers and you and your like kind. Personally, I do not give a shit how you handle your jobs or how long you stay down on them. As long as there is no one available to take the job(s), I am good. maybe all of the complaining and begging for more police officers on the west end of 008 has paid off. until further notice ive heard that the third watch 806 p.v.r.t team is assigned to 811 and 812 beat only. not sure if it is true because i have not been back to work in a few days but if it is true they are a good bunch of coppers and this is a FANTASTIC idea. most of them actually have time on and are old 153 guys who still do work... well, not back in they day 153 work but you know what i mean.... still like locking up bad guys and keepin the west end locked down. like i said, dont know if its true but many people sayin it is confirmed which is a relief to us that have to live out here. hope to see you guys out here and make sure to keep an eye on 6100 and 6200 block of menard.. lots of as#holes popping up here in the past few months. this was a good move to do cmdr kup!!!

seems to be true. i did a usm of 008 the other night and i saw an 806 car, 861 car, and 859 car all detailed to 811/812's beats. along with 811 and 812 only being assigned to jobs on their beats!
