Touchie Feelie BS

If you forgot what democrats being in charge meant, here's a reminder:
  • More prisons are not the answer to America’s crime problems, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told the nation’s lawyers Monday.

“We will not focus exclusively on incarceration as the most effective means of protecting public safety,” Holder told the American Bar Association delegates meeting here for their annual convention. “Since 2003, spending on incarceration has continued to rise, but crime rates have flattened.”

Holder conceded that the massive build-up of prisons — a seven-fold increase over the past 40 years — probably has something to do with the crime rate dropping 40 percent since 1991.

No shit, Sherlock. So how about maintaining or increasing the rate of incarceration until such time as the crime rate stops flattening and starts plunging. "Diminishing returns" our asses.

Here comes the move from punishment to rehabilitation. It has been tried in a few liberal states and communities without any success. Once this begins, we will see a lot of individuals being rehabilitated and then released to commit more of the same crimes. This will lead to an increase in street justice as crime victims will seek out their own revenge because the system is not helping.

Thank you progressives.

OT --- It almost slipped my mind, but Michelle Malkin was on This Week With George Stephanopoulos on Sunday when talk got around to the Obama Beer Summit. Also on this Roundtable was Cynthia Tucker of The Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Cynthia Tucker agreed with Obama saying Sgt Crowley "acted stupidly" and said if we are going to use this as a teachable moment, I would ask "What was the crime. I don't know what Prof Gates' crime was." Then the stupid airhead liberal fuck, said this:
"Don't we have a 1st amendment in this country that says that citizens GET TO BE RUDE TO THE POLICE? Was Gates rude? Probably. Was Gates obnoxious? Probably". "... But why was he arrested for being obnoxious?"

Malkin: "Look, you're supposed to respect the police and he clearly hindered and obstructed what the Police were trying to do..."

The whole discussion was 21 minutes long and discussed the economy and healthcare but the video segment I pointed out above is under Roundtable: Economic Comeback and was about the last 3 1/2 or 4 minutes and the video.

Since EVERYTHING has been done in the book to ensure felons get 100 chances in life. (they are even politicians now). Try LOCKING THEM UP FOR GOOD! See if crime goes down. Everything else has been done and been talked about since this country has been established. LOCK THEM UP FOR GOOD! No policies have been created to keep convicted felons/repeat offenders in prison for good. So why not try it out? Building prisons creates jobs also!

We studied all of this crap when we were college. Reality kicked in when we did our own research on the street. We are dealing with people that shoot at victims for fun. They do not comprehend social programs. It is like dealing with the devil.
Try the rehabilitation methods to prevent a revolving door on non-
violent crime. These gang members have a similar mindset as terrorists. Recidivism occurs due to lack of proper punishment. It is not the duration of the punishment, it is the method of the punishment. Criminals do not like responsibility and hard work.
A shorter prison sentence which involves around the clock labor and basic meals for survival would reduce recidivism. In addition, murderers should not receive a 3 year sentence for killing a 9 year old child. Do you thing this would happen outside of Cook County?
In conclusion, Chicago is not a good pilot program for sweet talking and making deals with violent criminals. At this point, the defamation of the police departments reputation is blown out of proportion an dialogue is down the tubes. The Chicago Police Department is composed of Latino, African American, Caucasian, Black, and many other nationalities. Why do you think we can deploy a translator at any part of the city in a heartbeat. Talk is cheap in Chicago and nobody wants to listen! Look at the stats and try some of the alternative money saving strategies on other States. Chicago Police is a semi-military operation. If we make things easy for these gangs and drug dealers we will be a full military operation within 2 years. I do not think our citizens want to live like they did in some other countries they came from. This is why we our the United States of America!

That's the guy. The same guy who handled to pardon to Dan Rostenkowski, that polack stamp thief who robbed police officers across the country of our social security benefits with the social security windfall act.

The guy steals his whole life and gets a presidential pardon. Also the pardons of the mega swindler Rich, the Puerto Rican terrorists and other such outrages.

Eric Holder, that's him.

First, they want to take the guns of law abiding citizens. Then they write such strict gun laws, making it illegal to come to the assistance of ones neighbor if he or she were being attacked.

Now they want to let the savages out of jail.

Fucking Brilliant!

Reported by: WMBD/WYZZ/RNS
Tuesday, Aug 4, 2009 @04:53am CST

WMBD/WYZZ – RNS -- More than 400 Illinois prison guards will be laid off in the latest round of state budget cuts.

The Department of Corrections says the guards will be cut at the end of September from six prisons, including the Lincoln Correctional Center. And the cuts may not stop there. As many as 1,000 prison workers could lose their jobs after Governor Pat Quinn slashed one billion dollars from the budget.

The union representing prison workers has fought the cuts, but says it's concern right now is to make sure that front line workers are safe.

The true reason crime dropped in the early 90's and continued to do so for the 90's is due to "Roe v. Wade". In the 1970's abortion became legal. Millions of abortions were done, with many coming from the lower social stratus. This meant that by 1990, there were millions less teen age males to commit violent crimes. Unfortunately this also coincided with judicial "reforms" and the concept of rehabilitation vs. punishment, which tended to have an offseting effect on the lower numbers of actual criminals. Thus, the fewer criminals in the 90's compared to earlier decades were let out of jail sooner with each offense, and offenses were prosecuted wiht less vigor, resulting in today's revolving door (in)justice system. The Clinton Crime bill which placed a lot more officers on the street also had a telling effect on reducing crime.

There is a logical and direct association between more Police on the streets (hello Daley!!!), and tougher prosecution to lower crime rates. The declining birth rate helps as well, but bottom line, more Police on the streets is the best solution.

It might be worthwhile to legalize some or all drugs and deal with it as a public health issue.

The drug war is a failure.

It seems to me that there are three ways to deal with the drug issue.

1. Continue with our failed policies. The most likely course.

2. Legalization and the public health issue idea.

3. En masse drug testing and send those failing the tests to a prison. Then if they use again after being released a bullet to the head and charging the family for the cost of the bullets. Like the Chinese do with their criminals.

Option one isn't working.

Option two might work better, but the political will doesn't exist. Being lectured on the evils of drug use by alcoholic politicians and their pill popping wives annoys me.

Option three would work, but I don't think Mom and Dad America are willing to see little Johnny get the death penalty for smoking weed or snorting some coke.

Where does that leave us? Let me drink some wine and think on it. I'll wash it down with some caffeine and a sleeping pill.

For those of you who watched "The Wire" I thought the Hamsterdam idea was genius. Just sweep in daily to pick up the bodies and patrol the periphery.

If people want to kill themselves with drugs let them. As long as they don't get behind the wheel of a vehicle it's not my business.

"Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" should not exclude people from self destructive behavior.

Freedom can be a bitch sometimes.

Big terrorist attacks have a way of galvanizing people. My wife visited NYC a few months ago with a friend of hers and said it was nothing like Chicago. Not only were the people that lived there polite, but they look out for each other even if they appear to be keeping to themselves. She said there was a visible police presence but it wasn't overwhelming.

If more people were proactive, crime would drop. It'd be even better if we had CCW to give that some teeth. At least then when you see a rape and stop to help, you aren't necessarily putting your life on the line. Right now, people just walk on by...

Dear scc:

I think that a good start would be truth in sentencing. Junior doesn't care what he does cause he knows how the system works. I also believe that the judges are given too much power with respect to sentencing. No probation for forcible felonies should be the rule. Maybe our justice system should resemble some systems found in asia. Caning, hard labor, chopping fingers off. Deterrence through fear.

Federal judges order California to release 43,000 inmates

Federal judges call conditions in the prisons 'appalling' and unconstitutional. A reduction plan is due by mid-September.

By Carol J. Williams
August 5, 2009

California must shrink the population of its teeming prisons by nearly 43,000 inmates over the next two years to meet constitutional standards, a panel of three federal judges ruled Tuesday, ordering the state to come up with a reduction plan by mid-September.
