Sergeant Contract Fails

Not just fails - fails badly:
  • Number of ballots returned: 1,012 (79% participation)
  • Ballots counted: 1,010
  • Votes to Accept the Contract: 84 (8%)
  • Votes to Reject the Contract: 926 (92%)
Too bad the City filed for arbitration, otherwise we might have seen a 93% rejection rate from the FOP membership. Nicely done Sergeants.

Not a cop, but support the police on this one. There is no way your wages should be frozen. With as much corruption that goes on in this city and state. Sorry. There should at least be a cost of living increase thrown in. At least. Thanks for allowing to share.

OFF TOPIC

5 different pension funds are suing Bank of America for fraud in their take over of ML last year. It is alleged that BAC knew that Merrill (ML) was in financial difficulty but hid that fact from shareholders. They are asking for lots of $.

Did our pension fund advisors ( using that term loosely) have any BAC shares? Are they or the Fund taking any affirmative action like these other funds?

Let's put it this way. The CPSA & theCity came to the bargaining table (think like a buffet). Salary increase, health plan, other things. Some you like, some not so much. (Like roast beef with nasty veggies on the side. You'll eat the veggies just because there's the roast beef) Then the City surprisingly pulls all monetary items off the table. No adjustments to anything else, no money. WHY EAT ONLY VEGGIES WHEN THERE ISN'T ANY ROAST BEEF?

That's why 926-84.

MEDICAL BACKGROUND RELEASE FORMS

IS THE FOP DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?

WHAT IS A GOOD CREDIT STANDARD AND WHO DECIDES?

WHO LOOKS AT THE CREDIT REPORTS?

WHAT IS HEALTHY?

IS THIS A METHOD OF NOT PROMOTING OFFICER WHO HAVE BEEN INJURED ON THE JOB?

IF YOUR NOT ON LIMITED DUTY WHY THE MEDICAL RELEASE?

Way to go... Something is starting to smell, not sure what it is, but things are looking pretty FUBAR.

Not to go too far off on this one, but what in the hell is up with the press in this town. It's almost like this midget is trying to run this city into the ground and the press is out to lunch, literally. Outside news is digging up the corruption in regards to this Olympic bid and who it really benefits and where the local press is, kissing the midgets ass.

Mean while the citizens get screwed, city services are a joke and unfortunately, when you play games with the manpower numbers, just like with the UCR’s, it all comes out in the street. We all know that shits going to happen, but WTF, at least give us the tools and manpower, (contrary to the bullshit, were what? about 2,000 short), just a fighting chance would be nice...

Remember the Sergeants Association as led by John Pallohusky is the same Sgt's Association that refused to support the FOP when we picketed the City in protest of the lack of contract progress on April 2, 2009.

If Pallohusky was such a fantastic stand-up guy he would have been out on the picket line with us instead of trying to cut a better deal on his own.

Hey pal, EVERYONE knows your union & the Cpt. & Lt. unions are as worthless as tits on a bull.

FOP does the heavy lifting around here, not you.

Insignificant unions such as yourselves exists for nothing more than to make a few of you feel like you're more important than the rest of you.

The only time you matter in the least is an occasion such as the one we just went through, where there is a bit of publicity available to you because your membership decided not to get ass fucked by daley. Usually you and the other "excess" unions do nothing but hide in the shadows and wait for the FOP to ensure your bargaining rights are protected. Other than trying to get some kind of separate attention for superfluous little changes that most Sergeants don't bother thinking about, you basically piggyback off of the FOP.

Now as far as the Cpt. and Lt. contacts I'm sure it's the same thing although I haven't read them, which is, I'm sure they'll do all the same handwaving with their useless gestures of complaince with Shortshit's demands and in the end, stand on the "me too" clause to once again let the FOP do the heavy lifting to get them a raise.

If I'm wrong about the C&L unions, then I'm happy as a clam in shit because for their betrayal in accepting Daley's leftover shitsteak they deserve to sit in their own urine for the next 5 fucking years while the rest of us get what's been due them for the last 2 fucking years.

lieutenants run the watch in every district a minimum of 135 days a year without a problem
our mayor can't figure this out or cpd command staff
most exempts are lieutenants
the rank of captain 100 % merit
we all know it
time for us to bring this to attention during arbitration
let city explain why they can give 45 minutes overtime and extra checks to captains that only work an 8 hour day

++++++++++++++

Maybe some people who have had enough of this nonsense and want to get the fuck out with a few extra dollars in their pockets. There will be a raise, probably small, some retro, but the free medical is a benefit that can result is some real dollars down the line. I don't begrudge anyone who voted no, everyone has their own reasons. 700 something a month is real money. I'd have to stay 3 or four more years to get that much in a regular percentage, and I want to get away from this mess.

One more time to those of you who can count. The Lt. Assoc board voted against the contract 9-1. The membership was almost comepletely split down the middle. The 55 was a great incentive if you have the age and it was tied to the contract. If the population of Lt. rank was younger like the Sgt. that contract would have gone down in flames.

lieutenants are usually in another district as watch commander
no field lt and senior sgt should receive out of grade pay as a field lt , if not get rid of the field lt position
no field lt and more money for us
we can do it , beef up sgt ranks
sgt runs the 1st watch in 5 and 20 for 4 hours a day on 1st watch

'Remember the Sergeants Association is led by John Pallohusky, not some merit Irish sellout.'

OH SHUT UP! Stop making Pallohusky out to be the second coming of Jesus...lets not forget that he, as head of the Sgts. Union, failed to support the march against City Hall on 02 April, citing that he and his union were in "talks with the City concerning their own contract", which apparently led to the City offering the Sgts. the same 'ol bullshit they've offered EVERYONE ELSE. Glad to see the membership of the PBPA Sgts. had the balls to do what the Lts. SHOULD have done (and what we all knew the 'merit' Capts. would NEVER do), but don't paint Pallohusky as some brilliant leader. He should have supported the march, and he didn't, and I won't forget that.

Likely King Daley and his crime family engineered the whole thing so they can claim they bargained but the union turned it down.

Now they can go to arbitration with thir sad story of no money and get the arbitrator to give them exactly what they want and not have to bargain for it.

IMO, the Sgt's did not so much give King Daley the finger as they stuck it in their own eye.

What are u celebrating? We still have nothing. The Sgt.'s union is a complete failure. What is my real score on the last Lt. test?

We just have to hope that the arbitrator isn't in Daley's pocket.

The arbitrator is Edward Bene, the same guy we had for the last contract.

I am one of the Sgts who would have been able to take advantage of the 55 and out with insurance within a year and a half. In good conscience in addition to having a moral conscience I could not do that to all that will follow in the future. The raise is important but more so are the other additions, the right to have you blow, physical fitness exam, etc. Once the door is opened on these types of things it never closes but just opens wider. I could not do that to my co-workers even though the city thought we did. Just remember, there should be no difference in what color shirt you where when decisions are being made which affect all of us. United we stand, devided we fall.

There are wellover 150 Sgt's that could have taken the 55 and out which explains the voting for the contract numbers. But aside from that there was shit in the contract for Sgt's. Mandatory drug and alcohol testing at the cities will. No more vacation, Baby furlough or personal days. No money whatsoever!!! No gains in seniority issues so the kiss asses still go where they want, while others never see any bids open anywhere but the southside.

You mean if I had voted Yes I would be promoted to Lieutenant in the next class? Damn Damn Damn!

A real sergeant (not a seargent) who made it by score - and can spell too.
