Stroger Corruption?

  • $100-million dollars. That’s the amount of money Cook County has been awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security since 2003 to protect its citizens in times of terrorist attacks or emergencies.

The grants are a direct result of the tragedy of 9/11.

But are we any safer? It depends on whom you ask.

We're going to go out on a limb here and say "no."
  • At issue is Project Shield, a controversial program begun under the administration of the late County Board President John Stroger and continued by his successor and son Todd Stroger.

“I think the federal government has to investigate what’s happened with Project Shield so far and re-evaluate its effectiveness,” he said after writing a letter asking for the probe.

The County has, according to a Freedom of Information Act request, spent nearly $43-million to outfit suburban police cars with cameras capable of feeding back live video to a command center. During times of emergencies, the cameras are supposed to give first responders a better idea of what is happening on the ground.

Who would have thought that John Stroger was involved in anything underhanded and nefarious? And Urkel Stroger? A paragon of virtue if all the stories are to be believed. Now the question becomes is Quigley acting on orders and who's giving those orders?

Cameras that feed live video? Come on, today in 010 many of the rapids were forced to ride 3 deep because there are no cars citywide. Days had ZERO rapids for the last few days because of no cars. This is ridiculous.....

Check out the Daily Herald from last week. When questioned by a Green party candidate for County Board, Stroeger stated that it wasn't his job to find out if a criminal locked up at 26th/Cal is an undocumented resident in Cook County. He additionally stated that the Cook County Sheriffs office is the last line of defense for Cook County. So what is it? Is he using the money appropriately and making all the proper notifications, or is it smoke and mirrors?

Sad to say, this is the norm.

Waste and Corruption, not only at the county level, but city and state are unsurpassed in Illinois.

Not even New Jersey is as bad as us.

When three, soon to be four, former Governors of one state go to jail in a 40 year span, that really says something. Along with 20+ Alderman in the same time frame that really adds to the mix.

If the Homeland Security EMPLOYEES are any indication we are in BIG trouble. Worse than the Water Reclamation District. Drunks, Drug addicts and low-life whore girlfriends who wouldn't be able to see three feet in front of their own face let alone recognize an emergency. They should have a revolving door at the courts just for them with all their DUI cases.

As far as Crook County being the last line of defense... As a County Police Officer, I can tell you our cars have no camera's or computers in them and these are the newest cars we have. So Stroger and Dart answer that.

thats funny... my suburban dept didn't get any of these cameras. with that 100 mil they could have used that to buy some radios that work. radios will be the front line of communication in an emergency over a camera any day. when someone watches a camera, they're gonna have to relay that information to someone else, usually via a radio. idiots.

Now really, we all know that the city, county, and the state IS NOT PREPARED for a terrorist attack. There is no money in kitty. The money that was there was misappropriated into bogus projects. Typical corruption democratic style of course.
We know that the terrorist are in the planning stage to unleash a furious attack. We seen this over the past few weeks. Keep vigilant, stay on your toes, and be safe. Because our corrupted gov. will not assure our well being.

Well that was just stupid. You can't document something that is contradicted by a video. C'mon, that's asking for trouble.

Cook County Inspector General Gets Power To Probe Elected Officials
by Hal Dardick at 6:10 p.m.

The Cook County Board today voted to expand the power of county’s inspector general to investigate elected officials.
Inspector General Patrick Blanchard and his successors now will be able to initiate an investigation of an elected official on their own, providing they meet a U.S. Supreme Court standard of suspicion.

Wow, Second City (SC), I am very dissappointed in your article. I always looked at your articles as being more intelligent and informative. Your site of all people should know, one cannot believe or trust the media.

Project Shield failed under phase 1and 2; however, Phase 3 is a success and actually doing the job it was set up to do. Moreover, the only thing Carol Marin stated that was true in her article was that it pre-dates President Todd Strogers administration.

President Stroger cleaned up the mess that was left for him, yet Carol Marin, as opposed to really saying that 79 out of 128 municipalities have signed on, she is referring to Phase 1 and 2 which were under 2005 and 2006. President Todd Stroger was not elected until 2007.

Project shield cameras have foiled and solved many crimes. The police chief from Oak Park actually said so. Of course, this information does not make the front page, actually its burried somewhere in fine print. Why? because it doesn't sell newspapers. SC should know, its all about publicity and negativity.

We (CPD)cannot even get positive press when we do something heroic on this job.

The bottom line is: THEIR ARE NO CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS, NO FEDERAL INVESTIGATIONS, NO LAY OFFS, NO FURLOUGH DAYS, AND NOBODY FROM COOK COUNTY GOING TO JAIL.

Unlike the city and the state... the County has a BALANCED BUDGET FOR THE LAST THREE (3) YEARS.

The state and city have all the problems stated above, what is Todd Stroger doing wrong? Answer, nothing... The papers just want you to believe that the County, under President Todd Stroger has failed, and the truth is, he is doing the job he was elected to do.

Sorry, to take up so much of your space.
