Evidently, the letter was meant for 004 District supervisors only:
- It's for the supervisors not po's I have a copy of the original which was [rescinded] and the new one
And as speculated, it was rescinded (or possibly amended) within a few hours of being posted here.
And although supervisors are in a better position than many to afford new computers, requiring them to work outside duty hours would still mean a "first issue" computer and paid overtime for the two hours. And probably a three-day training session on how to use e-mail, the e-mail policy, a full day on appropriate use of Department e-mail accounts, e-mail no-no's and half-a-day worth of "Use of Force" filler material before cutting out early on the third day.
Is he trying to get his supervisors a nice little Christmas bonus? Don't any of these exempts have any idea what a "contract" is?

Your last sentence hits the point, SCC. No, none of them know what a contract is or what the implications of working under one actually are.
Weis has never dealt with a contractual situation in the workplace and has repeatedly given directives contrary to our various contracts. He has, despite good advice from a couple of very high-ups, directed TWICE that detectives be reassigned to the Juvenile Processing Center, at a huge ultimate cost after the grievances were settled and the arbiter ruled. I'm sure there have been other violations, again costing the City money it doesn't have (though graciously providing individuals with checks up to ten THOUSAND each).
He doesn't give a damn about our contracts. And if we continue to allow him to undermine them, signing away our rights in order to work the presidential detail, the tact team, the special foot post... well, then, shame on every one of us.
THIS supervisor will be submitting slips if the practice spreads to MY district. Of course, my captain isn't an idiot and actually reads, and understands what a contract is.

What is the Supervisor's overtime check that they get four times a year for? They also get 45 minutes each day. So what!!! So now we have an issue with asking a Supervisor to do a little extra work, not that they will, but WTF? I say make them stay the whole tour of duty too. 1500 hours to 2330 hours. Do your job!

004 has a number of good sgts. All of the ones on 2nd watch treat us like adults and come up to help when needed. None of them micromanage. They make the place decent at least.

I just viewed a program on the GOOGLE Corp., and how sucessfull it has become in ten years.
Google employees get free meals each day. They have busses to bring them to work, there is no dress code.

The original one specified Supervisors also. It never said all of us. It said Supervisory Staff.
I am no fan of any Commander. No matter what, they are really all the same and they all bow to the same God, whoever the Mayor and Superintendent is. They have no real power. They just manage what they are given which is not much.
Commander Carter has always been fair to us and he actually knows the street. I don't know about him being 3 times merit, but I do know that I have been in 4 for almost a decade and it is refreshing to see a Commander that actually does work and not spend most of his day chasing the women that work here or getting involved in petty BS. He also submitted one of my favorite Sergeants for Lieutenant and I know he did not know him and he got 2 of my boys into Narcotics and 1 other in a very descent specialized unit.
I don't mind ragging on a boss, but this guy is actually the policeman's police.

Please get a reality check. You work as far away from the rest of the city as 1 can get and think yours is the only decent watch. Do you even know anyone who works in 024,016 etc? I am glad you like your bosses but there are some others who do too. Just sayin.

Miserable bosses and police officers working every day in a community that hates the fucking police for no other reason than the fact they have nothing else to bitch about.

To 4:01 Post. As a sergeant we can all be legit and don't bother asking for a duck or coming in late to roll call or not having all your proper equipment. Or the biggest one don't call us when you need direction because your to stupid to know what to do or don't have the ball to make a decision... I feel my job is to look out for you guys and not to make everybodys life miserable by watching you guys like hawks.. You sir sound like a problem child who had to get his hand slapped for doing something stupid and have a hard on for supervisors.
I agree with the comment about 004 having good supervisors but they are on all 3 watches and also tact. You are a complete idiot. No one is staying in ANY District in Area 2 because of ANY Commander. Those are all shit Districts. Most people stay because it is close to home. No Commander expects any of us to stay because of them. Why would they give a fuck? THey have a shit job in a shit area with some shit citizens.
What could they offer you. If he was super nice and did nothing you would talk shit, if he went out and drank with us lik Commander Thompson, you would talk shit, if he chased every female copper in and around the District we would talk shit like the last 3 Commanders did, if he hits the street we talk shit. I have been on both watches and most bosses could learn alot from Capt's M and N in 004. Good guys that know how to treat others.
Funny thing that no one has noticed. 004 was almost never on this site before Carter arrived. Now it is on here with constant back stabbing and bitching. Sgt. R and Lt K have been here for years (Lt K like forever), and never a single complaint on here about either. Since Carter arrived, they are supposedly devils. Hmmmmm...why not before Carter, but only after??? And why was 004 never on here before his arrival, now it is a hotbed of hate???

I am sure I have worked here a hell of a lot longer than you have and what you posted is not true. Also, the last 2 Commanders we have had have been yes men that did whatever they were told and allowed 3 guys on the watch to work a part time while on duty, they are all carpenters so you know I know what I am talking about. The last one spent more time politicing than showing up at anything here.
This is probably Sgt R bitching because before EC even got here you were at the desk talking about you use to work with him in 007 and how he was your boy. Once he told you you had to work the street every once in a while, you had a fucking fit. Lt. K is good to me but he still is miserable Lt., we all know it and we all know why. This sounds like the same one person bitching about him on here whenever you get a chance. Just becuase you post it here does not make it true. I like my job and I like working here. If I choose to chanse knuckleheads, I can and if I choose to have a descent day at work away from knuckleheads and go home for lunch I can!
Get over it! If you feel that way keep it to yourself. If it were so true you would not have to keep posting the same BS now would you!

Sorry, but you're the one who's wrong about this one. A second group was improperly sent there, AFTER Weis arrived, and Weis was advised by more than one high-ranking boss not to do it again. He did and a second grievance was filed. I hope they get as much as the first group was awarded.

Ummmm, the point isn't that they're no longer doing it. The point is that there are p.o.'s among us who have in the past and who continue to sign away their contractual rights and show no solidarity. Sounds like you're one of them.
For the most part 004 does have good bosses and the new commander started off a little rough around the edges but has lightned up and does actually seem like a decent enough guy. Overall it's not a bad place to work considering the shitty area it covers.
If Burger King is so great tell me what he has done for the people of 004; the blue shirts that work in 004, or for that matter anyone else but his bitches?
