Learning Curve
Slowly flattening out, but still generating money for Daley's voracious appetite:
One might think that after the well-publicized tows of 234 cars from city streets on the first night of the winter overnight parking ban, vehicle owners would make certain their cars were off the designated streets on the second night of enforcement.
But 164 more woke up Wednesday morning to find their cars had been towed from the 107 miles of streets where the ban is in effect.
And don't doubt for a second that Shortshanks has Streets & Sanitation supervisors out there with tape measures checking to see if tonight's slush amounts to 2" so they can declare an additional 500 miles of streets to be Snow Tow hunting grounds. We might even go so far as to speculate the tape measures used have been altered by half-an-inch or so and they'll only measure in "lake effect" areas. Hopefully, Tommy Skilling can keep them honest.

Daley needs the $$ to pay us.
4%/yr, 4 yrs retro. You read it hear first.
My favorite Streets and Sanitation ruler story. A guy from Michigan invented a machine to re-surface streets using a ceramic heated disk instead of the burning dragon type the current politically connected street re-surface uses. His bid was lower than the cities guy because 97% of the product can be re-used from his technique. The starts his machine and does a whole block pulling up the required 3". The city inspector puts his ruler on a pebble and flunks this guy and gives the contract to their fair haired boy. True story I was there watching.
You're counting on the brother of the Enron CEO to keep someone honest?
i cant wait to see TOM BYRNE out in a snow storm with the clout exempt streets & san boss's.
he is going to wish he was retired.
oh yeah, PLEASE retire tom so a deserving person can have a job!!
Dear "You read it hear first" STFU!!!

So we're going another 18 months until the arbitrator rules? Bullshit. Now if you said 4% per year for 3 years you would be much more believable.
OT - Maggie Daley's cancer returns
Bless the city's first lady in her ongoing battle with cancer.
The mayor today, in commenting on his wife's illness, indicated that a big factor in her ability to combat her illness is how the family comes together at times like this to support her and her ongoing treatment.
Hmmmm? Does that mean that first son, Patrick Daley, will be returning from his self-imposed exile in Moscow and is ready to face the federal corruption charges that are waiting for him here?
Stay tuned as the family comes together!
Desiree Rogers could'nt handle the state's lottery, let alone be a social secretary for the Prez.
