A Chicago police officer fired after a video camera captured him beating a female bartender is asking a judge to review his termination.
In the petition filed Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court, attorneys for Anthony Abbate said the Chicago Police Board made 12 errors in ordering his termination last month, including using the infamous videotape in deciding to fire him.
Really? Seriously?

It does not even matter if there were errors in the Police Board hearing Abbate is a convicted felon. All they needed to do was read his conviction into the record and he is disqualified to be a police officer.

As to the Officers who spew nonsense on this post: In regards to the officer from 009. I do not know him personally and care less if he has clout. I do not have clout but do not care if someone else has it. We all took this job knowing there were officers who have clout and those of us who do not. All of us have our flaws and to cowardly chastise one of our own at a time when he is at his lowest is deplorable. Ninety-nine percent of you wouldn't have the balls to say the things you write on a post to the face of the person your talking about. Most of you are the same people who say your the real police but do nothing all night but sit on your hands. It pains me to hear Officers bashing other Officers without hearing the correct story from the people who were really there. I then hope the story is told correctly by the Officers who put there own little spin on it as it heads down the gossip highway. If we as Officers worried about ourselves a little more and quit whining about what another Officer are getting or doing, we would be better off. Most of you are the same Officers who complain about the FOP but have never been to a meeting. Complain about the contract but have never read it. Arrested or not, he is a bad drunk that bounced his girlfriend around more than once, and the bouncings have been a matter of record, but he was not fired. Why?
He wasn't fired because he is 19th ward connected. He has been given a pass with so many things. He must think he is invincible and can even get away with assaulting a sergeant. This guy is Abatte, just not caught on a video camera.
He'll be found guilty of the misdemeanor charge and take a healthy suspension, but he will not be fired, once again. What a surprise to all!

They hired "Quarters Boyle" After his Felony conviction and they will do it again after this one because he did not Rat anybody off.
He is doing some prep work in the eventuality that he gets his conviction overturned. There are bigger pieces of shit who have gotten their job back.
He was worthless when he was in 19 and in all districts after that. Still, don't count him out, I have seen stranger things happen. It will truly be a crime if Abbate gets back while Cozzi sits in that stinking prison.

I don't know about this guy being a "clout" hire.
His dad was a decent guy and a decent copper up in area 4, likely he was just accepted as family of a decent copper and they just put him through the process with no undue scrutiny.
I can still recall the look on his dad's face the day he was walking his own kid out of CC.

Just another note on the incident at 107 & Troy. It never ceases to amaze me, as a civilian, how some of you turn on your brothers so quickly. Maybe "turn" is the wrong word, but you can definetly be hard on your own during times of crisis. I'm saying this not to rip you as PO's, but rather to ask why? I just think Police (and in particular the Chicago Police), get treated unfairly enough from the media, ministers and public. As an outsider who supports the police (and have many friends and family on the force - so I get SOME idea of the difficulties), I think you would want to not judge and keep some personal information "internal" until the facts come out. I'm not talking "thin blue line", sweep things under the rug sort of stuff. Just let the facts sort themselves out and not give the trolls something off-base to run with as a story.
I know the officer in question but I do not know all of his faults. I do know, that as a civilian, he is someone who I would want on my side. He cared about helping and would go out of his way to help with issues (gang and drug). Even give his personal cell for problems, callbacks on off-days, etc. That being said, I did not work along-side him, so I can't judge him on that, nor should I. All I can do is say a prayer for all those involved.
Bottom line, circle the wagons a bit fellas. Don't cover for the "Tonys" of the world, but at least hold off on stories like this until the facts are out at minimum. Even if you don't like the guy, no reason to unload on him now. If the shoe is on the other foot, you don't want every PO you pissed off blogging some story about you, true or not. Peace to all and be safe.

Regardless of what you think or what you've heard about the officer involved the officer is in a very bad way right now and doesn't need anything extra dumped on his plate.
