Sadly, it was too late SCC. They posted that the Officer has died.

May he/she rest in peace.

May we all, the CPD, get over the pain and please, let us all help support whatever family this Officer had, outside of the family of Blue.

RIP Office...

Not a cop, but I live in a high rise nearby and saw the aftermath of the accident. Based on the position of the car, I had a bad feeling about the outcome. I immediately said a prayer for the officer and family.
Unfortunately CPD has a bad reputation among some of my neighbors, but I believe those people are in the vast minority. I take my hat off to what you men and women do on a daily basis to give of yourselves to keep us safe.

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.

Written in time of war, but it works here as well

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

The torch is passed down again. Sergeant Haymaker can rest now.

022 Sgt.

GOD bless the Sergeant and his family, friends and co-workers...

Be careful with those high mileage pool-cars officers... Corners are being/have been cut and our safety and well being is not a priority to the City.

From what we saw there was no airbag deployment.

Some friends of ours were shoved through a building a few years ago and there was no airbag deployment.

Are airbag sensors in the squads being "adjusted" to deploy at a higer threshold?

For the sake of Officer safety we hope not but you cannot put anything past the current administration.

GOD bless us all...

I worked with Al probably 15+ years ago in 015. He was a real character, but in a good way. He had a kind heart and was almost too good for this job.

I'm deeply saddened by his loss. Al gave us alot of us stories to tell at Fort Forgotten. If you were there back in the day you know what I'm talking about.

Seriously, I will never look at a Cheese sandwich, Apple, & some Fig-newtons the same way.

RIP Al, You will be missed.

You will never be forgotten sarge. We will protect, console and help your family through this tough time. We will never forget your family and will always celebrate your life and your passing to the right hand of the lord. Sarge.. as you continue your everlasting life in heaven with the lord remember to look down and protect us all. Alan, your wife and family will be taken care of by your brothers in blue. WE will NEVER forget and I offer these prayers to the officer, his family and to all police officers.

Oh Almighty God, whose great power and eternal wisdom embraces the universe. Watch over all policemen and law enforcement officers.
Father in Heaven please give them the strength, courage and perseverance to endure The unjust condemnation, danger, and physical abuse to which they are at times subjected. We recommend them to your loving care because their duty is dangerous. Dear God, grant these brave men your almighty protection, Unite them safely with their families after duty has ended. Amen

May Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace ALAN... Amen.

all too often when ever we lose a loved, the tragedy is so immense that we tend to hold a lot of emotion inside. THAT IS NOT GOOD. Brothers, its always tragic when we lose a loved one, but when we lose a brother in blue, we all suffer emotionally especially inthese hard times when all we can count on is each other. I know your journey was long, but now that you entered the kingdom of heaven, enjoy the rest of life knowing that your loved will be taken care of by the rest of your brothers and sisters in blue. Go rest now, your tour of duty on this world is done. Enjoy a beer, watch the cubs, and dont tell us when in the future they'll finally get there, its a beautiful Monday morning and what better company to have than the Lord. Say whats up to flash for me, tell him "wassup scared happy belated birthday" and he'll know who it is.

I knew Alan Haymaker years ago while he was a veteran street cop on the west side. Like most Police Officers, he was an honorable man who did his job for the citizens of Chicago without regard to the neighborhood or the residents that he served.

Today, some 15 years later, Sgt. Alan Haymaker made the ultimate sacrifice to the citizens of Chicago when he lost his life enroute to a crime in progress. For most citizens, this "story" will be present for a couple of days, until the TV news runs the footage of the funeral attended by thousands of his fellow officers later this week. Rest assured, however, that this is more than just a "story" to the men and women who worked with and for him in the 023rd District, his Supervisors, and ALL members of the Chicago Police Department.

Please remember that Alan Haymaker was a wonderful person, a loving father to his three daughters, a caring husband and an example to all of his fellow officers. He will be deeply missed.
