More Cash for O'Hare

  • More cash is landing at O'Hare International Airport, specifically $400 million in federal funding for the expansion of new runways.

A host of dignitaries, headed by U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, will be at O'Hare Tuesday morning to make the official announcement. Gov. Pat Quinn, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Mayor Richard M. Daley will also be on hand.

A news release from the governor's office says only that the announcement relates to federal funding for O'Hare. But it doesn't provide details.
Now, if only rest of the country was doing as well O'Hare seems to be doing.

Will this influx of federal funding be accompanied by federal oversight as to how it's spent? Someone to keep the Daley Family Crime Syndicate from playing fast and loose with all the loot?

Or will Walsh Construction, Vanecko Excavation, Christy Weber Landscaping, et al, once again be the de facto chosen ones to overrun their respective budgets?

At least the Messiah will have a nice new runway for Air Force One to touch down on when he's back in his hometown. Oh, disregard. B.H.O. will be long removed from his one term as POTUS the way projects in this city and state run in terms of being finished on time/budget.

But the city cant hire police officers. Cant make a detectives class with the detective division getting close to 300 short. Can promote officers to sgts. Even with hundreds and hundreds of officers retiring.

Buried in the small print of the same the press release was the notice that $400 million in Federal funds would soon be cut from the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly knows as food stamps)

Not much Chicago style graft to be had from food stamps, all the better to keep the asphalt and construction company spacones supplied with fresh linguini for a while longer.

Oh great, more money for the mayor and his merry men ( and women ) to steal.
Word has it that the feds found out the city is diverting federal funds for police&security and now the dept of aviation is running scared.
The big questions is, since the feds ( FAA ) have known about this for years and not done anything, is the US Attormeys office sniffing around or just tryng to beg free lounge passes from the airlines?

That should read

"More Cash for Shorty's Pals"

No news there, just businss usual.

Now "More Cash to Hire 1,000 New CPD Cops"

That would be news, but no money there for Shorty's pals.

They have to complete the expansion. Walsh and Reyes const. etal. needs the money. They should just cancel the rest, but then how do you explain that to Bensenville. "Uhh, sorry we stole your town, I guess we don't need it afterall?"
