John Northen Strikes Back:
- As a citizen of the City of Chicago, I contacted the Independent Police Review Authority (IPRA) and filed a formal complaint against one Jody P. WEIS charging cowardice and inattention to duty as a result of his failure to respond to aid his fellow police officers on the shootings and homicide on S. Marshfield Ave. in 007.
Ms. Stewart of "intake" issued (Complaint Register) C.R. No. 1035137 for said investigation against the accused.

A couple of years ago a PO tried to get a CR# for Cowardice against an Inspector who showed up to the scene where the PO and other PO's were fighting a suspect and the Inspector did not help. The PO was told that it was a Inspectors job to monitor and Supervise so no action would be taken. I can see JW trying the same thing. He likes to play Police and dress up but when the $hit hits the fan he runs.

As a CPD dick I feel your pain when dealing with The CCASAs. I don't know how you maintained your composure and didn't put a bullet in him. Your a better person then me.
WE are out there doing our job arresting offenders. The States attorneys and Judges let these jags off on a daily basis. That is why you get stories on the news about Offenders arrested numerous, sometimes a hundred times, and they are still roaming the streets. We are the most visible part of the criminal justice system and the only ones held accountable. Any civilians reading this blog take a day and go sit in a court room at 26th ST. You will be amazed at the substandard ASA's we have and the prejudiced judges there.

Sorry to hear that horrible atrocity, but this is just further confirmation of the hatred of the police by the Chicago Tribune/media and the Crook County States Attorneys Office.
I am happy that the CPD did their best for you and your family. I commend you on your restraint. I might have lost my mind in such a situation.
Ironically, had you reacted in any other way, you can bet that the Chicago Tribune would have made the maniacal, rogue copper front page news. The Crook County States Attorneys Office would have made sure that multiple felony charges were approved and stuck.

How they can get away without giving someone there requested furloughs is beyond us but given the state of affairs, I can see that it could happen. POLICE SUPERINTENDENT WEIS OFFICIALLY ACCUSED OF COWARDACE
An official complaint was lodged with the Independent Police Review Authority in that Superintendent Jody P. Weis acted in a cowardly manner in that he and his bodyguards ran from the scene of the shooting near 69th and Paulina. CPD officers have long held that this former FBI agent has been nothing more than a hatchet man for the mayor concerned more with cutting costs and manpower than real crime fighting or the welfare of the troops. Under his regime the manpower level of the department, especially in districts and detective units have shrunk to what many think are dangerous levels. It is not known at this time how this Complaint Register will be investigated and what "instructions" the IPRA will be given.

A couple of years ago a PO tried to get a CR# for Cowardice against an Inspector who showed up to the scene where the PO and other PO's were fighting a suspect and the Inspector did not help. The PO was told that it was a Inspectors job to monitor and Supervise so no action would be taken.

Very off topic, but there already is talk from the 004th District...and believe me, when the 004th District talks, you listen. The 004th District knows things..how they do...they just do. But come the 1st of June, the whole department will have to be in uniform. They say that everyone will. Everyone. It is going to be policy for the summer months. Also, there will be a postponing of summer furloughs. How they can get away without giving someone there requested furloughs is beyond us but given the state of affairs, I can see that it could happen. I had to post this because it comes from very good sources. I don't ever want to be spreading rumors, but we have to know about this stuff. This stuff is important for the troops to know. I mean, what the heck is narcotics going to do? Buy dope in uniform. The source says that DEA will handle that. Right now public perception is what matters. It will be a long, depressing summer.

That's awful. I feel sorry your wife and young daughter had to go through that horrible experience. I read tht article and that guy was a time bomb waiting to erupt.
