Castle Doctrine Again?
- A South Austin resident shot and wounded a man who crashed through the window of his home while fleeing police early this morning, officials say.
The resident had a valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card and police are not pursuing charges against him, police said.
This is the second time in little more than a week that police have chosen not to pursue charges against someone who shot an intruder, despite Chicago's ban on handguns. On May 26, an 80-year-old East Garfield Park homeowner shot and killed a suspected burglar.
Maybe the Department can start some kind of promotion to encourage this sort of thing?

In cases like those, can't we just give a 19-P code? Let the home owner throw the intruder out in the alley for the regular garbage pickup to haul away. This might get to be a regular occurrence. Then if crime goes down, how will j-fled take the credit?

OT: More stupidity from some of the members of our ranks. The wife (Off-duty PO) has a "male friend" at the house. The hubby (not the Po-Po) gets pissed and fires a shot at the so-called "male friend." The wife then pulls out her pistola and shoots the husband.

Off Duty Cop Shoots Husband
It may be time to call a divorce lawyer.
An off-duty Chicago police officer allegedly shot her husband in their home in the 11600 block of South Elizabeth Street around 1:30 a.m. Friday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
It started when the husband pulled a fire arm and aimed it at his wife's male friend. The husband allegedly fired but missed him, according to a police statement
His wife quickly retaliated.
She grabbed her weapon and shot the man she vowed to spend the rest of her life with for better or worse.
The man was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, but officers said he's suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating.
It appears this couple took the phrase "till death do us part" seriously.
Daley should learn something from all this, and remember he works for us. He only is the Mayor for as long as we keep voting for him. I for one will no longer be voting for him!!!!!!!!!!

The ASAs REFUSED to let the officers charge him with UUW because the gun wasn't actually in his possession.
So, depending on how you look at what ended up happening to the shithead, ASAs either fucked up again or inadvertantly ridded the world of another criminal parasite.

Yes. The "Hale DeMar" act, which protects homeowners who shoot in self-defense even if there is a local ordinance against handgun possession.

In addition the Sgt.'s contract was just voted on and approved by it's membership and the city has informed the Sgt.'s Association that Sgts can start retiring with the age 55 paid health insurance benefit starting on 15 July, 2010. The city better do something quick because there are approximately 200sgt.'s that are over 55 years of age and are maxed out. Anyone who stick's around this environment is a retard. Do you hear me old timers? Leave and enjoy some of your retirement money. Stop working for free and tell JFLED and SHORTSHANKS to kiss your ass, cash in your comp time and spend some of that money.

OT: Chuck Goudie actually stood up for the rank and file officers Friday night on Ch. 11's week in review. He also outlined the need for at least 1,000 more P.O.s, and described the huge divide between J-FED and the rank and file. All he missed, as I see it, is concern for Bill Cozzi.

I just heard that they're going to be asking for sgt. packages for the merit hacks within the next couple of weeks. That means that they're making a class soon. How many? Who knows? It won't be me either way. I wonder if this is in anticipation of the 130+ sgts. they're already short or the 200 that are going to retire.
By the way it's been well over two years since they've made any detectives. I guess with the 11 or so being dumped out of Bomb and Arson we can forget about a class huh?

It is an affirmative defense to a violation of a municipal ordinance that prohibits, regulates, or restricts the private ownership of firearms if the individual who is charged with the violation used the firearm in an act of self‑defense or defense of another as defined in Sections 7‑1 and 7‑2 of this Code when on his or her land or in his or her abode or fixed place of business.
An affirmative defense is not the same thing as it not being a crime in the first place. So you can be charged. Most likely a judge would just toss the thing if it ever got to court.
J-Fled is not only a lying coward. He's crazy. How can he say the homicide scene was secure when the shooter escaped on foot?
