Just got home from work and had to share this with you. Was in Wrigleyville for the Hawks riot, thats right riot. Clark st was out of control and police were undermanned and under prepared. Car 43 shame on you, sending all early and late cars home to avoid overtime. Then you had to call tac teams, gang teams, and the swat team in for help. Heaven for bid what will happen if a major incident hits Chicago. Thank God no policeman was seriously hurt tonight!

Things got nuts by wrigly. The crowd got much larger than many expected. If it weren't for the handfull of non-Hawk fan thugs that came to make trouble, it would have been a non-incident. However, if the Hawks would have played a game 7 at home Friday night and won, right after the Cub Sox day game, it would have been the perfect storm. The department could not have contolled that crowd. Especially with the manpower issues. Thanks Hawks for a great season!

Northsiders acted worse then the savages out west or south made the Obama riots look like a back yard bbq. WHAT A DISGRACE AND POOR HANDLING BY THE DEPT HEADS AGAIN LEAVING COPPERS OUT THERE OUTNUMBERED AND VULNERABLE. GOD BLESS THE C.P.D. NOT THE POLICE BUT A APPRECIATIVE WRIGLEYVILLE CITIZEN.

Wrigleyville did get out of hand. Some bosses did not make descisions fast enough and it got out of control to the point 007 008 and 009 tact got called up to help. One Mounted PO got knocked off his horse. Many bottles thrown at PO's. and officers told to stay calm. WHEN CAN WE TAKE BACK THE STREETS?????

I was unfortunately assigned to Wrigleyville after the Cubs game. I am so ashamed at our bosses lack of preparation and balls at this event. Deputy Rottner should be demoted immediately. This should be an eye opener to the city and union officials. We need MANPOWER! Wrigleyville was out of control last night and the police were outmanned! Certain things were also proven last night. A.) Car 43 is in way over his head. B.) 1900 is in way over his head. C.) 2300 (2399) is in way over his head. Leadership at that scene was embarrassing!

FINALLY someone who has the stones to stick up to Masters/Weis. Thats right, Dan Dugan took a stand against the dynamic duo on the issue of moving Captains around to spread around the workoload. He told Weis that if he cant run the Patrol Division then expect him to drop papers and leave. (and go to the media about manpower shortages). low and behold, J-fled backed down (once again) and now the Captains will stay put. Way to go Dugan.

Yeah, it did not look pretty on TV; helicopter shots showed a HUGE crowd. 100,000 people?

Good excuse for pale, ugly white boy with ring in nose, "tribal" tattoo, to yell, pee, jump on car, try to tear down street sign, then fall, hit head, bleed, need EMS which has to inch through crowd at 1/2 M.P.H. Friends think this is 'way cool, make cell phone videos of him bleeding. The usual. (snicker)

Doing errands in 025 right before game, could detect tension. Not as many people in stores or on street, and the ones I did see were --

A. wearing red-white-and-black

B. engaged in a middle-of-the-street shouting domestic

C. walking down the street with a heavy broom handle, doing butt-stroke moves at trees and stuff

D. Really watching the hands now --next one comes along is whirling his heavy key chain around like a sling

Time to get inside, lock door, enjoy game.

After win, 016/025 worked on clearing Belmont/Harlem, some bar over there poured into street, no fatalities...(tongue in cheek)

Morning. All the idiots have gotten themselves stapled back together and been discharged from the ER by now, while a few still await bond...they are nothing.

The Blackhawks were for real. Wow.

What a game. Did not know if I'd ever see this again in my lifetime.

Not a cop but was on Clark St last night to soak up the excitement and have a good time. Excellent job keeping order by the POs that were there. They maintained visibility but let people have a good time. It was a Mardi Gras-like atmosphere in which the vast majority of people just wanted to have fun and still act responsibly despite a few idiots, and the police that were out there did a great job.
I support you guys 100% and thank you for everything you do. More citizens support you than you realize!

Well what can I say? Every policeman that was in Wrigleyville on Clark St. knows exactly what i'm talking about. Complete ineptness was on grand display last night by our exempt members regarding this incident. No planning, no man power and so forth. Car 43 should just retire. Car 49 is a goof! At least there were some sergeants with half a brain. I hope they call Rottner on the carpet today about what happened because he has a lot of explaining to do!

I'm really surprised that Daley isn't doing a July 3rd on this; you'd expect him to move it to 6 AM Sunday or something, so as not to interfere with the smooth flow of money in the Loop.

To SCC Editor(s);

Way Off Topic:

A note to CPD Readers, anyone who wants to run for FOP Office next year MUST Attend at least 5 meetings in the previous year to be eligible to run.

Per FOP Bylaws & Regulations as follows;

(ARTICLE VII
NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND TRUSTEES
OF CHICAGO LODGE NO. 7

The elected Officers of the Lodge shall consist of a President,
1st, 2nd and 3rd Vice Presidents, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, three (3) Sergeants-at-Arms, and seventeen
(17) Trustees.

The term of office for elected officers of Lodge No. 7 shall be three (3) years.

The duly elected officers of the Lodge and elected/appointed unit representatives by virtue of their office shall be delegates to the State and National Conference.

A. NOMINATION AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICERS:

Section 1. Only Active members below the rank of Sergeant, who have been in continuous good standing for two (2) years, and who have attended at least one half of the regular business meetings held in the past twelve
(12) months may be candidates for office in this Lodge.

The official sign-in book and excused absences for good cause shall be the sole materials used to determine eligibility for office.

Nominations may be made in December of each third year following December 1986.

Nominations will be made from the floor by any member in good standing and do not require a second.

The nominations cannot be re-opened after being duly closed at the nomination meeting.

Any qualified candidate will be required to sign a letter of acceptance during the month of nominations in order to be eligible for election.)

The next FOP Meeting 15 June 2010 will be the last meeting for those who intend to run and do not have the required number of meeting in for this year(5).

(Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May are already gone and if you did not attend any of those meetings and SIGN IN, this is your last chance to get the next 5 meetings in-June, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec. No meetings in JULY & AUGUST).

I am only reminding everybody about this because we always hear about the bitching and moaning of the bad deals the FOP gives us and the bad leadership of the FOP.

Now is your chance to CHANGE the LEADERS by running yourself.

Our President is scheduled to retire on 15 November 2010 from the CPD. He is already on the Official Retirement List of the Pension Board for that date.

I assume he will remain as FOP President until the 2011 Spring Elections.

If your are satisfied with FOP operations, do nothing.

If not, start by attending the next meeting to be qualified to run for office.

Old Timer!

I remember the 1961 games. I remember watching these teams play without helmuts and the goalies without masks. Amazing!
I went to several games that season, but didn't get to see any playoff games. Saw Bobby Hull score a hat trick.
The Hawks were every bit as exciting to watch this year as in the 60/61 season.
Thanks to Rocky for allowing the home games to be televised.

Yeah. I have three cars, one of which I have owned since 2001.
This is the first time I never received the renewal notice for that car.

good leadership in 012 lastnight. Cmdr Keane, Capt Carrol - Lt. Panepinto not afraid make a decision out there on Madison. Gulliford, Martin, WInsberg were useless as tits on a bull.

Sgt. on afternoons ran that show..

"GET OVER IT! I WAS THERE LAST NIGHT AND IT WAS NOT OUT OF CONTROL! NOT ONE FUCKING BIT! So what...we had to deal with drunks...we work in 023/019 we do it all the fucking time! It was not a riot, it was a celebration and a majority of the arrests were white suburban brats who slapped a horse on the ass, or chucked a beer bottle...NO ONE GOT SHOT, NO ONE LOOTED A STORE, NO ONE AS MUCH AS GOT SLAPPED IN THE FACE! Nice try, but car 43 et al did a fine job! GO HAWKS!

All available units sent to the Hawks party downtown. NOTHING available citywide.

Really, people, God help us if there's a REAL incident in this city, because we no longer have the manpower to do more than one event at a time.

And even with ONE event, we're shorting the districts desperately.

Quinn and Daley got booed at the rally.

We were so lucky that this celebration was for a hockey team. If it was for the Bulls there would be many P/O's and civilians hurt, as well as damage to storefront windows and looting. I saw Germans, Polish, English, Jewish and Irish people out there celebrating, and the worst thing they did was break down the barriers holding them back so they could walk behind the last doubledecker bus. OMG we are so understaffed it is not funny. But I also believe that the Bosses have no clue on what they are doing out there. We were lucky maybe not so much next time.

I have two vehicles and didn't get the renewal for either of them.

This city is really falling apart. Maybe when Vanecko gets the contract to mail out the notices it might improve. What a mess this city has become.

Oh, I dunno. There was enough manpower to have a squad car on-scene this afternoon at "Islamic Community Center of Illinois," 6435 W. Belmont, as the city towed all kinds of stuff out of their parking lot. The Taxicab Temple, so to speak, got a little visit.

Funny.

This joint has about 14 city garbage totes out back; I guess the enhanced service goes with paying no property taxes...

A big thank you to the WGN Radio Blackhawk announcers for giving a shout out to Chicago Police Officer Densey Cole on the air during the 3rd quarter.

A class thing to do, thank you guys. I hope Officer Cole was listening.

Car 43, 49 and 2300 (aka 2399 3rd Watch), dropped the ball. There were about8-10 thousand around clark street and it was out of control, not a riot but out of con trol. All these bosses standing there when the crowd tried to tip over 019's wagon, bottles thrown, no leadership, no decisions, pathetic. God help us if the shit really hits the fan.
