Bad Year Gets Worse
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A standoff was under way Sunday in a tiny southeast Alaska village after a man fatally shot two of the village's four full-time police officers the night before, then barricaded himself in his home, local officials said.
Hoonah police officers Tony Wallace and Matt Tokuoka died after the shooting late Saturday, said Bob Prunella, acting city administrator. Prunella didn't know what led to the shooting but said it was witnessed by Wallace's mother, who was visiting from Florida, and Tokuoka's wife and children.
God Bless Officers.

small town policing, some times only one man up on midnites, if you need back up. you call county police, state police, another municipality and hope they come. If they can. You have to be the police, and accept what is put in front of you. I respect the courage of these men and women. God bless these officers.
Mayor strongly objects to J-fled giving police powers to the bucket boys. J's plan is for these street wise miscreants to be his eyes and hears.
My deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of the officers.
May they R.I.P. :(
Be safe out there.
I read that one officer was down, and the other was trying to pull him to safety when he was killed. Somebody remind me why we call pro athletes 'heroes.'

About 100 million years ago, I lived in a very small town in Missouri that had six full time officers and six volunteer reserve officers (who were made up mostly of older retired men, since they worked forr free and had to be on call).
C shift only had one full time man.
These small departments should really look into developing an Auxiliary force from the citizenry to augment their full time manpower. It doesn't solve every situation, but it adds more guns to the line and in real shitstorm scenarios, sometimes, one man isn't enough.

Excellent idea...Too bad Illinois banned the part-time Copper for all practical purposes. Training issues...Other States do this as they see fit.
God bless those Alaska coppers...
Rest in Peace and Gods Speed my Brothers in Blue.

I say: Cops and Firemen are heroes. Cops and Firemen that run into burning buildings to save other people are heroes.Officers that run into dark buildings after bad guys are heroes. But certainly not sports jocks. They would be called "entertainers".
Stay safe heroes.
