Interesting....

The national media is awakening to the disaster that is Chicago:
  • It’s a shame that the public has to be reminded of this from time to time, but any cop can testify to this inescapable fact of police work: Where there is no punishment for criminal behavior, crime will flourish.

Nowhere has this been demonstrated with greater clarity lately than in Chicago, where the Sun-Times has taken notice and sounded the alarm. In a three-part series that concluded Tuesday, reporters Mark Konkol and Frank Main examined the violent incidents that occurred over a single weekend in Chicago two years ago. During that 59-hour period, from April 18 -20, 2008, forty people were shot in the city, seven of them fatally. Stop and consider that for a moment: one city, one weekend, seven people murdered, and 33 others shot but still alive.

As horrifying as those numbers are, they are far from the most disturbing revelation in the Sun-Times series. You might assume that such an extraordinary outbreak of carnage would have aroused the citizenry in Chicago to demand swift action from their police, prosecutors, and elected officials to see to it that those responsible for the violence were brought to justice. You might assume so, that is, if you don’t live in Chicago.

They cite the low clearance rates, the pathetic State's Attorney's record, the murder of police officers and the essay making the rounds written by a police lieutenant outlining what's going wrong.

Go read the whole thing.

The only one to blame is the Dictator Daley. We are so fucking short handed it's scary. It's sad that in most cities across the country they love their police department, but in chicago they are hated. Our own Mayor hates his police and treats them like shit. Usually only criminals hate the police. Hmmmmmmmm I wonder.

A relatively good article, followed by a great deal of ignorant comments from people who are in need of anger management.

I find it funny how many of the comments just simply vomit movie or other media stereotypes of the police. Those people should be banned from ever dialing 911 or calling for help. Let them rot.

At any rate, I do not see things changing for the better in Chicago, or for that matter any where else. I do envision problems getting worse due to the insensitivity and ignorance of much of our citizenry. I do not see any change in government as long as reform-minded politicians are ignored and many incumbents are worried about re-election and the size of their campaign funds.

Who was that cartoon character who said in a wimpy, pathetic voice: "We're doomed! We'll never make it."? I think that character was probably describing the future of Chicago and modern America.

Possible solutions:
1) Quinn must go.
2) Daley must go.
3) Weis must go.
4) Term limits for all elected positions in Illinois. No more than 2 terms, period. After that, they can all go and GET A REAL JOB.
5) Pensions have to be squared away. Appropriate contributions have to be made by governing bodies, and payouts will have to be scaled down (we've seen far too many examples of abuse of pensions by the connected).
The State's Attorney's Office must be revamped. Too much refusal to pursue felony charges, which causes too much frustration with police, resulting in fewer arrests.
We need criminals locked away, not out walking the streets while ASA's 'try the case over the phone.'
We need competent judges. Our laws have teeth, we just need judges who are willing to put the bite on criminals. Stop the 'adding probation' on to convicted people who are already out on probation!
Stop throwing 'good time' on to people who've been raising hell in our prisons. If they're fucking up in the prisons, leave them there! Letting them out 'early' for 'good behavior' sends a message that they're not held accountable. This adds to recidivism.

Not sure if anyone saw the Fox-32 9pm news, but the station's general manager did an editorial, praising us, calling us Chicago's finest, and telling people that they should respect and appreciate us. As soon as it was over, that tool Sirott gave the standard disclaimer about how this guy's opinion was his, and not necessarily those of the station, it's employees...etc. At least this guy was backing us.

A rehab worker I know was robbed and the offender was armed with a gun. He was working on a building in 008. They saw the offender a few blocks away, called the cops and he was caught. Offender still had victim's phone on him. Victim was told, no armed robbery cause the gun was not recovered and in less than a week, offender is out of jail. Same crew robs several other workers, working on another house across the street a week later. 008 has a big problem with rehabbers getting robbed and ASA letting them right back out on the street to rob again. SAD!

from pajamasmedia.com website. A blogger states

Look to the local goverment. Chicago is a classic example of what happens when a city goes to a :Socialist government. What you get is rampant crime, public entitlement programs which further aid people not wanting to work, look for work and just kicking it waiting for the next hand out.

Interesting to note this is the Prsident’s home town. Sad, very sad to see this country going down the tubes.

I couldn't agree more!

In an effort to shed better light on the violence CPD Leader JFLED has announced new Stats.

" We will identify criminal activity now not only as either inside or outside but also whether it was daytime or nightime, if necessary we will also use 'Dusk' as a category but only if we really have to, in our continuing effort to cover up crime."

There are no more suspensions because when they do suspend and fail to fire (COZZI-others)Jody sues them. So if you are out there runnin and gunnin and you make more than a new PPO your days are numbered. They will sustain some bullshit ,kangaroo police board and then wonder why violent crime is through the roof.
Funny how the FOP is paying the legal bills but not screaming to high heaven about this back door layoff scheme that fucks us but also the citizens of Chicago.

I can't seem to find this part in the SWAT sgt's notice. We should ask the Policy group why this was left out of the notice. Hey Ray, Commanding Officer for the Policy group, why was that left out? The police Lt. missed one vital point. Daleys increased cockiness is in direct proportion to his ability to access the President or his minions. I don't believe the Lt. did this intentionally. Even sadder, I believe we are so indoctrinated to the thought that Dems are SUPPOSED to do right for the underdog, that he didn't even notice the time frame.

Why is there so much crime, Three Thousand Ninety Eight Police Officers Short, Understaffed, Unmanned whatever you want to call it, it's a crap situation and our great mayor is hiring no one, we have no support and Jody has no clue nor do we respect or agree with his leadership. Just an FYI MEDIA, 3,798 Police Officers Short/understaffed is an estimated $265,860,000.00 a year that the city is saving, yet our mayor continues to claim we are broke and that we do not have the money. Well, where is it then?

OT, but interesting. Fox's Mark Saxenmeir did a story on a CSA on the southside on King Drive. The victim was 18yoa, but has a mental capacity of a child. gang raped by several boys and men who all stood in line waiting for their turn. Several offender's left used condoms at the scene. One guy was taken into custody, but was released because he stated he was there waiting for his turn, but got tired of waiting. His mother goes on tv to defend this thug ass rapist. Mom say her son did not participate in anything. "The girl went into the basement on her own. Who knows what she wanted." When the son was asked if there was something wrong with the girl he stated yes, she is slow. He knew she was slow, yet he stood in the long line of rapist, but then stated that she wanted it. UFB!!! The mother is no better. Quick to defend his wrong doing. A good samaritian who was also in this basement during the assault lead the girl 2blks from scene and called police. Prosecution is not likely because of the victim's mental capacity and ability to ID all offenders in the dark basement.

Second, enough with "we're down thousands!" BS already. We are budgeted for 13,500 SWORN. That means Supt down to PPO. We currently have about 12300 - 12500 sworn. Figure it out: we lose about 500 a year through attrition. The hiring slowdown began 2 years ago. We've hired about 200 in that time.

If you want to debate whether 13500 is enough, that's a different story.

Don't be surprised by this. Another former Sgt. of SWAT was moved after he received a CR for kicking a SWAT patrolman while they were working a job. He tried out again too, but wasn't exactly honest when questioned by a 'review panel' (part of the SWAT testing process) about the incident. But you've gotta wonder, if they kept that other Sgt. from coming back in, how did RayRay get around the 'review panel?' One would think that they would have asked RayRay about the circumstances behind Risley ousting him from SWAT...or did they? Either way, look for RayRay to be installed in some highfalutin' position in SWAT before J-Fled and Masters are removed. I'm sure a plan has been drawn up somewhere. If I were the Cmdr of MSF, I would be nervous...and bringing empty boxes to work.

What we have with Ray so far is:

1. He cheated during the shooting test by switching holters, and got caught but Tracy Ladner forced it through.

2. Somehow had the review panel not ask about him geting kicked out of swat, although the other sgt who got kicked out got asked and thus weeded out.

3. Had the order saying if you ever got kicked out of swat you couldn't come back removed so he could come back.

4. Had the process for ranking and selecting swat guys changed so that he could hold a spot open for him so he could continue to do the policy group thing. Thus screwing the other sgts who completed swat school.

5. And now he is going to be promoted to Lt in the next class, which he knew already but wanted to cover all his bases, just in case. One Way Ray, his Way strikes again. Once that happens he becomes the swat coordinator. Don't forget, he'll be bringing squad car Barbie with him. At which time she will become Bearcat Barbie.

Hey AK, how does Ray's dick taste you hypocritical sell out. You are making swat a joke with all your entitlement BS. Keep using your phone call to stay in swat even though you haven't passed the PFT in over 2 years and can't go on swat jobs(non-operational). You alone are making swat a shitty place to work.
