Easy Posting Tonight

More than a little hung over under the weather after celebrating mourning the happy sad news of Shortshank's announcement.

On a side note, does Frank Main even get how a computer works?
  • The mayor’s support among the police rank-and-file has eroded. Much of the discontent stems from budget woes that have led to manpower shortages in the department. Upon news of the mayor’s retirement, one cop blog posted an image of the Wicked Witch under the heading “Good riddance.”
It's a video montage Frank. You click it and it plays music. Get some speakers on your Commodore 64 and listen to the tunes.

Open post today.

Why doesn't Frank Main ask about the three open CPD PO murders and why the G is so quiet?

Ending our 'sanctuary city' designation needs to be a TOP PRIORITY in Chicago. Illegal immigrants should NOT be eating up our tax dollars through free programs and free health care.

I have a cousin who works for the Board of Health and, just like the recent FEMA and State of Illinois' free money grab for "flood victims", little or no documentation is required for these services. Many don't even live in Chicago. In fact, some of these patients live in Mexico and come to Chicago 3 times a year to get their FREE 4 months of medications to bring back home. Why should WE be paying for that from OUR taxes?

If the mantra is to vote OUT all incumbents, why would we want to promote one of them to Mayor?

The REAL problem for Chicago in the future, is the same one that exists everywhere. The depressed economy.
The next Mayor needs to do the following:
* Announce his/her intension to run for ONE TERM ONLY. This will help to eliminate the political pressures to please everyone and allow some real, albeit unpopular, job and budget cuts...
* Declare Term Limits for the office of Mayor and City Council. If these elected officials think they are going to be in office for 20 yrs, their only REAL job is to get re-elected and NOT to serve the citizens of the city. A candidate who knows he cannot run again can go about the business of doing what is right for the city instead of what is popular...

The next mayor needs to:
* Stop all the feel good BS...
* Cut out all of the worthless spending, like flower boxes and giveaway programs...
* Cut the million dollar budgets of Aldermen...
* Stop the spending on CAPS dinners and neighborhood festivals...
* Start requiring others to pay for their own parades and parties and celebrations...
* ELIMINATE political hack jobs, don't just simply plug in your own hacks...

The next Mayor will have to do a lot of critical and highly unpopular budget cutting and ring in a new era of belt tightening and fiscal responsibility. I don't envy anyone that job. But as we coppers like to say, its a dirty job but somebody's gotta do it.

"Here is where Daley went wrong, he stopped listening to the people..."

9/08/2010 01:52:00 AM

He never stopped listening to the people... just the wrong ones.

If you paid attention all these years, all of the mobbed up professions have been kept quite busy and happy.

He listened when they wanted jobs for their truck drivers... poof! He created the Hired Truck program paying for trucks and drivers that would sit idle until they were called.

He listened when they wanted jobs for their construction workers... poof! He created Millennium Park, paying $270 million for what was originally a $150 million budgeted project. And that was just the taxpayers share! The final bill was $475 million with construction delays and cost overruns attributed to poor planning, many design changes, and cronyism.

He listened when they wanted their "family" members out of jail... poof! He created the Cook County Slating Committee who would only slate judges for the Cook County Circuit Court who were willing to take marching orders and rule on cases accordingly.

He listened when they wanted their lawyer associates to prosper... poof! He began unprecedented million dollar payouts to any piece of sh*t defendant and his lawyer who decided to sue the city for any BS reason the lawyer could dream up.

Yeah, he listened alright, and the kickbacks he received will probably make for a long and comfortable retirement for his family.
Hopefully not for him, though, as I foresee a lengthy legal battle in his future, ala Blago, that will ultimately ruin his legacy, his health and send him to meet his maker... and boy, is THAT GUY pissed

From the Sergeants Association web page:

Lieutenant’s Lawsuit Update : 8 September 2010

I was informed that our Association’s lawsuit regarding the Lieutenant’s examination was dismissed by Judge Dow late Friday afternoon, 03 Sep 10. As it stands now the hearing for the TRO is still set for a status date for 15 Sep 10. Our attorneys are reviewing the Judge’s decision. We will keep the membership informed of any future developments in this case.

According to a cub reporter for a big-city newspaper . . .

So much for Frank Main.
======================
======================
"Much of the discontent stems from budget woes that have led to manpower shortages in the department."
======================
You got that wrong too, Frank. The manpower shortages are a part of it, but I suspect that most of the discontent on the street can be traced directly to an incompetent outsider that early-on showed he has no understanding or respect for the job the PO does.

I offer that almost universally, the beat cop will make do with whatever equipment and manpower is available--no matter how insufficient--if he or she is convinced that the Department AND ITS LEADERSHIP at least understands and supports their efforts--appreciation is probably too much to wish for.

Let me see if I have this straight. When a citizen dials 911, with any luck a PO (dare I say two?) responds. Happens hundreds of times a day. When no cars are available, maybe a supervisor will be assigned the job. Never heard of an exempt getting sent on a hot call--backlog or not.

It kind of begs the question--what are all these exempts for anyway. I think that they are supposed to exist to support the POs out on the street--but somehow it seems to have gotten reversed. The POs exist to make the bosses look good. Hence a list of the ten worst performers in a given district. Not that it is likely to become a problem, but what happens if the worst performer in the district writes only ten movers a day? Shame on him. And you'd better get on his ass, sergeant, or you'll be looking for a new assignment.

Query--what happens to the ten worst exempts on the job? (Promotions?)

And, gee, what made J-Fed be willing to take a pay cut in order to keep his job. Could be he realizes that the City and its taxpayers got MUCH LESS than they bargained for--he's not worth it and has done more harm than good. And you thought we got screwed with the parking meter deal?

Sorry, I didn't mean to get started. I will have a glass of warm milk and take a short nap before I get ready for work . . .

Did Frank ever think that maybe the reason there's a couple hundred less murders a year in Chicago now than in 1989 has to do with great advances in medicine than an actual drop in the number of people shot, stabbed, etc.?

The quality of ER medicine is light years ahead of what it was in the 80s. People who would have been organ donors even ten years ago are now surviving their wounds.

Frank and Fran - the only two people I am aware of who could solve all of the world's problems and run Chicago infinitely better than anyone else.

Too bad they are too busy writing tabloids, er, eh, I mean news stories. Just think where we all could be if they put there "talents" to use for some good.

Not to mention that Chicago's population has fallen from a high of 3.6 million people in 1950, to somewhere around 0.8 million to a million people less today. That means the murder RATE is higher.

Because otherwise Mexico's economy will collapse and it will become a 3rd World country, dependent on the U.S. dollar to prevent a revolt.
