Still a Happy Day

We're rolling in from the local watering hole (we drank lots of water). So many happy people, so many free drinks. The amount of happiness and weight off peoples' shoulders, the business owners, the bar patrons, etc. It's like a cloud is moving away.

We can hardly wait for the election season. Regardless of who wins, there's going to be a massive blood-letting in all sorts of Departments, including ours. Paybacks are a bitch and there's plenty of bills coming due.

Be careful, for we do not know what is ahead. There's gonna be a lot of candidates out there. I'm not making any recommendations, I pull a Republican ticket during primaries...
I was assigned to sit in on the Aldermanic Debate between Waguespack and then Alderman Matlak (machine guy). Scott Waguespack seemed very intelligent, and had much disdain for "the machine." He talked tough about corruption.
I'd consider him. He made an appearance at our March at City Hall.

I'm just overjoyed today. If Mr. Fitzgerald had a press conference announcement, it would be even better!

We have to organize to get a viable candidate. Lord help this City!

Here is where Daley went wrong, he stopped listening to the people.

Gun control, merit promotions, higher taxes, neighborhood crime, people feeling unsafe, selling off all the city's assets, union busting / privatizing, schools out of control, waste of city's money and resources, insiders getting everything and not caring what the people want and with that I know what's best for you attitude.

I voted for Daley three times out of six and new he needed to go a few elections back. Now were broke and our neighborhoods are crime ridden. Downtown has gotten better but the South side has gotten out of control. We lost the war ten years back. The 008 District was once a quite District now it out of control. Their are no truly good areas for any race of people to live in on the South Side. People of all ages getting killed for no reason. Mayor Daley didn't get it good, people will never stay in any area with their family, if they feel unsafe.

I hope the new Mayor can make the city where we can all work and live together without fear of getting raped, robbed, murdered and where drug dealers have a jail cell to look out of.

SCC, see if you can get a hold of Chicago Tonight from Tues Sep7th. They had on some aldermen talking about Richie, they started bickering with eachother, Ald Smith (48th) wouldn't say a bad thing about the midgit, Brookins and Cardenas were yapping over eachother, and Freddrina Lyle and Smith were jawing too. It was a classic Democratic implosion. If you can find it, you'll laugh.

The WORST part of Daley not running again, will be the "victory" tour he will be making until a new Mayor is sworn in.

Every civic organization and politician and tax-break receiving Fortune 500 company will be "honoring" and praising the stuttering prick like he was a God or something. Just pitiful!

And even worse than that is, you can expect the local media to give "news" coverage to every single one of these celebrations.

I must admit, however, that I'm looking forward to "Mayor Daley Day" at Wrigley Field. Not to diss the White Sox, but I'd love to see his BIG ego ass in a Cubs hat & jersey throwing out the first pitch on the North side to a chorus of boos.

Aw, forget it... those idiot fans would be cheering him. They're the ones that helped keep him in power for so long, anyway!

9/08/2010 01:52:00 AM

He never stopped listening to the people... just the wrong ones.

If you paid attention all these years, all of the mobbed up professions have been kept quite busy and happy.

He listened when they wanted jobs for their truck drivers... poof! He created the Hired Truck program paying for trucks and drivers that would sit idle until they were called.

He listened when they wanted jobs for their construction workers... poof! He created Millennium Park, paying $270 million for what was originally a $150 million budgeted project. And that was just the taxpayers share! The final bill was $475 million with construction delays and cost overruns attributed to poor planning, many design changes, and cronyism.

He listened when they wanted their "family" members out of jail... poof! He created the Cook County Slating Committee who would only slate judges for the Cook County Circuit Court who were willing to take marching orders and rule on cases accordingly.

He listened when they wanted their lawyer associates to prosper... poof! He began unprecedented million dollar payouts to any piece of sh*t defendant and his lawyer who decided to sue the city for any BS reason the lawyer could dream up.

Yeah, he listened alright, and the kickbacks he received will probably make for a long and comfortable retirement for his family.
Hopefully not for him, though, as I foresee a lengthy legal battle in his future, ala Blago, that will ultimately ruin leacy, his health and send him to meet his maker... and boy, is THAT GUY pissed!

The REAL problem for Chicago in the future, is the same one that exists everywhere. The depressed economy.
The next Mayor needs to do the following:
* Announce his/her intension to run for ONE TERM ONLY. This will help to eliminate the political pressures to please everyone and allow some real, albeit unpopular, job and budget cuts...
* Declare Term Limits for the office of Mayor and City Council. If these elected officials think they are going to be in office for 20 yrs, their only REAL job is to get re-elected and NOT to serve the citizens of the city. A candidate who knows he cannot run again can go about the business of doing what is right for the city instead of what is popular...

The next mayor needs to:
* Stop all the feel good BS...
* Cut out all of the worthless spending, like flower boxes and giveaway programs...
* Cut the million dollar budgets of Aldermen...
* Stop the spending on CAPS dinners and neighborhood festivals...
* Start requiring others to pay for their own parades and parties and celebrations...
* ELIMINATE political hack jobs, don't just simply plug in your own hacks...

The next Mayor will have to do a lot of critical and highly unpopular budget cutting and ring in a new era of belt tightening and fiscal responsibility. I don't envy anyone that job. But as we coppers like to say, its a dirty job but somebody's gotta do it.

Ending our 'sanctuary city' designation needs to be a TOP PRIORITY in Chicago. Illegal immigrants should NOT be eating up our tax dollars through free programs and free health care.

I have a cousin who works for the Board of Health and, just like the recent FEMA and State of Illinois' free money grab for "flood victims", little or no documentation is required for these services. Many don't even live in Chicago. In fact, some of these patients live in Mexico and come to Chicago 3 times a year to get their FREE 4 months of medications to bring back home. Why should WE be paying for that from OUR taxes?

Perhaps this is the first punch to break the teeth and jaws of rev'run & alderfool interference in the department. The rotten muthafuckahs that NEED to be watched/investigated have walked this Department to a standstill by lubing the gears with bullshit, clout, incompetent hacks getting multiple bites of the merit apple and a certain few planting their people in key spots to mine info on onging criminal investigations.

We really wish it were known how many wires were taken down because of clouted people who could really put a mean hurt on Daley Inc. if they were snagged and reeled in.

Or how many investigations were hit with a "stop work order" because someone's spouse, kid or squeeze popped up like a mushroom after a hard rain.

The ones who sorely need watching have expended much capitol (politcal & otherwise) trying to stymie the watchers.

But all in all...

Hopefully it's the first day of a bunch of crooked-assed muthafuckahs finding out they're going to prison.

Rev'runs, alderfools and other members of Daley Inc.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.

The mayor’s support among the police rank-and-file has eroded. Much of the discontent stems from budget woes that have led to manpower shortages in the department. Upon news of the mayor’s retirement, one cop blog posted an image of the Wicked Witch under the heading “Good riddance.”

Peter Fitzgerald might make a good mayor but after serving in congress and seeing how fucked up that whole system is, he probably is done with politics.

Not a resident either, I don't think.

Rudy G is the kind of guy we need too.

Whatever happens, the loss of Daley is the beginning of a rebirth if people demand it.

The media is really giving Daley the blow-job send-off.

They are totally ignoring how he ran the city like it was his personal fifedom, most the last 20+ years the wind has been at his back and he and his band of thieves have been ripping us off at every turn: Tadin, Park Grill, Milllenium Park, Skyway, TIF's, Huels, Auto Impounding and then sale of autos, Miegs Field, O'hare, YOUR pension money on and on.

The guy has cost Chicago BILLIONS! He belongs in Jail.

Had he once balanced a checkbook of his own money this would still be a great city..

Now when it's time for a real leader ala Gov. Christie of NJ, Daley says "It's Time."

Media, the guy is gone. Tell the fucking truth.

So Obama realizes he is a one termer, and tells Rahm to take control of Chicago. Daley graciously steps aside.

It's possible, right?

Could be, Obama has not sent any extra money to the city, Busch probably gave more money to the city than Obama.

Among the first things I would do as mayor of Chicago would be to restore the name of Jane Byrne around the city and to honor her accomplishments.

I would name City Hall the Jane Byrne Building for all time.

I would name the block of 50 W Washington as an honorary street, Jane Byrne Blvd. So the Daley center would be located on Jane Byrne Blvd.

And that would be the official address, so no one would ever again mention the Daley Center without also mentioning that is is located at 50 W Jane Byrne blvd.

Let the daley family shove that one up their ass.
