- OT-018th District at Division/Rush- Once again, savage animals attack a group of F/2s who were on a trolley enjoying a bachelorette party. The animals forced their way onto the trolley demanding a ride. When they were told to get off the bus, they viciously attacked the women-punching,kicking, and biting them. The majority of the women were tourists from the East and South. Please advise your family/friends to avoid 018 at night.
Since no one was permanently brain damaged with a 2-by-4, we don't think the media will be running word one on this.
But every single one of these young ladies will be going home and telling everyone how Chicago is out of control and making it so that a few hundred people, maybe more, never set foot in this town because the mayor won't hire police.

From a non po, but a city worker. My perception is that crime is way up. I work in the area of 63th an State, I'm always fearful to and from work. I just get in and get the hell out as fast as I can. My wife and I used to like going downtown at night to enjoy the lakefront, not anymore.
How come the PAU didn't predict this crime? Here's a prediction: Mutts will always behave as mutts no matter what. Protect yourself and your loved ones at all times and in all ways necessary. If it means having to carry, then do it. Don't leave home without it. The situation has deteriorated to the point that no matter where you are in the city, you are a potential victim of crime. It used to be that if you stayed in highly travelled areas, downtown or in entertainment areas such as Rush Street, you were ordinarily safe. No more. The mutts now target those areas looking for well heeled victims. There are not enough police on the streets and the rules of engagement prevent the police who are on the street from aggressive preventive patrol.
Daleys bodyguards should all call in sick for a week so these fuckin animals can show him what being alone on the streets with these dogs is really like.

once upon a time when the wagons still had the doors at the rear certain individuals who were making problems were given a seat in the back of that truck--- when enough trouble makers were formally seated the lights went out and a hulking figure would come inside and the door would close behind him--- after the screaming and crying went on for a few minutes the bone breaker would exit the truck and all the trouble makers were allowed to leave--- amazing, but none of them ever came back and caused any more trouble....
Years ago on tac double days we would have to send out doubke teams to 018 to so foot patrol in 018. We started at 1900 Hrs. until 0330. After 2300 Hrs. the animal from Cabrini would be out setting upon the hapless" 708: area code victims waiting to happen. It would usually be up to 4 teams per night just for that area. We made numerous arrests for theft, battery
disorderly, hot cars, poss. of cannabis and other assorted nonsense. If we wern't there the poor suburbanites would have been victims of the animal. It looks like they need to go back to those details again. Oh thats right those tac teams are now trying to stop murders in the Ghetto. Sorry businesses in 018 who pay big taxes, no extra police for you unless the Prodictive Analysis Unit predicts the murder of a White Suburban Victim in that area.

Look, after retiring from CPD and moving far, far, far away from Chicago and Illinois, I've been actively advertising to anyone who will listen, to stay out of Chicago. Don't go to visit, vacation or shop. I've made friends with the local police and asked them to please don't go to Chicago for anything. Chicago is a city of violence, random shooting and high taxes. Not enough police personnel to protect the citizens, let alone you.
Where I moved, the police told me there has not been a violent crime here in 15 years. The police force here said they do not and would not tolerate such behavior. We have a no nonsence mayor and chief of police and the States Attorney will hang you out to dry. Not very many property crimes due to The Castle Law. I finally found a place without the political nonsence. There is political abuse at a tiny level, but not at the level of Chicagos' abuse. You're find political nonsence everywhere, but Chicago is NUMBER ONE.
Just like one Anonymous said - carry a 9mm, Glock or S&W. You need it in Chicago. Crime is high and will go higher. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Just you wait.
I had some business to take care of in Chicago a few weeeks ago. Believe me, if the business could have been handled over the phone or fax machine, it would have been done. I was amazed how I was dodging animals all in the streets. Everyone on a cell phone. There was so many people, just out. While at a stop light in Roseland, a guy came up to my car (passager side) and tried to open it. I pulled my weapon and told him to get ready to meet Jesus. He ran down 103rd westbound. This is insane. This city is truly out of control. Just drop a bomb and be done with this neighborhood.
But you can blame the mayor for spreading these animals into good neighborhoods. These animals were happy as flys on sh-t living in the Projects. They were centrally localized. Now they are all over the city creating violence upon all the decent folk. BLAME THE MAYOR. GET HIM OUT OF OFFICE. Demand certain laws on home and property owners. Clean up or lose your property. Groups of people hanging out on the front, with trash as high as the door bell, get them out. Create an island just for them. Then they would rape, kill, steal among themselves.

after a shooting near a south side beach that left five people wounded.
Police say the five victims were attending a barbecue at a park near Rainbow Beach Saturday night when three gunmen started shooting.

Five people shot on Saturday night at 2130 hrs. while attending a barbeque at Rainbow Beach in the 004th District. Wasn't on the news and nothing in the papers. Isn't that special, now there's no reporting.
I think we can lower crime even more maybe even eliminate it completely.
All we do is just stop calling homicides, robberies, burglaries, etc., "crime". We call them human events, or accidents, or "other".
Problems solved! Crime is eliminated. Chicago is now a safe city with no crime.

I've been reading this blog for a couple of years now and have experienced a rude awakening about the wrongs and rights of Chicago.
I've refrained out of respect of a loved one who would probably prefer I not say anything, so please pardon my rather long comment and the correction I'm about to make.
Calling them animals would be inaccurate and a disservice to wonderful beings like dogs, lions, and gorillas. Animals attack out of self-preservation/defense and to hunt food... these are shiftless, sub-human savages who choose to attack and terrorise others for no reason. These are filthy savages who've regressed to australopiths; waiting around for handouts that we hard-working taxpayers bleed out of every paycheck.
The irony of all this is that when a rabid dog attacks an innocent person, it's euthanised. When a stray begging dog is found, it is rounded up into a shelter and euthanised if no one claims it.
I have more sympathy for the dog. At least the dog has the excuse of lacking opposable thumbs, having a significantly smaller brain, and an IQ lower than my shoe size.
What a sad waste of humanity and tax dollars having to deal with this.

Whats the most i can carry on my person? right now until im a hired PO i carry mace, ASP baton and cuffs. i have a taser too but i dont carry it on me. is all of this legal? The only reason i dont conceal carry is because i dont want to ruin my future career as a PO, even though im clearly risking my life everytime i step foot outside my place. If i were planning on bieng a civilian i would conceal carry in a hearbeat without even thinking twice. but i can see j-fled or daley going after a civilian who defends themselves with a gun, even its its 100% legit(besides the conceal carry)

My brother in-law has been unemployed for 18 mos.
He works temp jobs now and then so something is coming in until he finds something in his field.
What he isn't doing is crying that the govt. isn't giving him $$$$, he isn't hanging on the street, nor is he robbing, thieving, or sling dope.

This is true- and it' not just 'two and three year wonders'. There are a lot of old-timers who wouldn't hesitate to lock up Honest Joe Sixpack for carrying to protect his family.
The best you can hope for is that you get a reasonable, intelligent cop who understands how the real world works and not some idiot who thinks his job as a cop is an "Us Versus The World" proposition.
I carry a small blackjack and the one time I was caught with it (traffic stop), I just told them about it and they didn't care (they were actually kind of interested in it, since you don't see spring-handled blackjacks much these days), but had I been pulled over by a different 'type' of copper, I'd be saddled with a Class 1 Misdemeanor, no different than if I were carrying a handgun.
So, I take that risk, but yeah. Tread lightly and understand that the sentiment of Chicago Cops isn't always in line with that as seen on the SCC blog. There are any number of them who wouldn't bat an eye at screwing your life for making the decision to not be a victim.
These are idiots who are too stupid to exercise reasonable discretion, so they defer to the absolute letter of the law as a surrogate for analytical thought.

I'm waiting for the book to come out
As a regular citizen who read SCC and the mainstream media, I am overjoyed when I read stories like this. Why, because it means more violence is hitting the mainstream and might get media attention.
This summer I don't go to the lakefront AT ALL. I stay in my own neighborhood but don't go out at night because I live near a neighborhood with a lot of shootings. I discourage my nephews and family and friends from going downtown this summer.
Paranoid? Maybe. But why risk my life on a stray bullet or desperate crackhead with a baseball bat that wants the $20 in my shoe?
Apparently things are not bad enough yet for Weis to be removed, for more police to be hired, for Daley to be ousted.
Until more tourists are assaulted, until upper class children or VIPs are killed or shot, nothing will change and the city gets worse.
Sad to say but these stories actually give me hope. Things have to get really bad before they get better. At least we'll have those lovely new airport runways at O'Hare that no one needs.
As a retired p/o (2003), I feel for the men and woman in blue now. I was actually considering surprising the wife with a weekend downtown for our anniversary the weekiend of the 18th, not anymore. Starved Rock or the vineyards of Michigan are the destination now. God Bless you P.O.'s and stay safe.

It would be nice if the Entertainment Unit aka "Party Patrol" would get out of Dublin's/Finn McCool's and butch McGuires and back on the street where they belong. Having six coppers sitting on their asses eating free food, watching TV, playing video games and trying to get laid isn't helping things in the Rush St. area one bit!
