How many people are driving the Shanks family around anyway?
- Dale[y] is grooming his son in law Conroy for the job, he has hooked him up with some big corporation that he has been working for, also, this guy is so so tight with the mayor, even tighter that young Patrick who could never be da mayor, Daleys daughter even gets a driver and minivan. Isn't that something that the BGA and Andy Shaw should look at, how does she rate this special treatment.
Our commentators have provided us with many instances of Patrick being driven to and from bars along with other nonsense. And the fleet of cars maintained in readiness over at the old police garage? These people seem to think they're deserving of high level protection akin to Secret Service details. We can't think of any other city that provides what is essentially 24-hour limo service constantly to their adult children. Where everyone else is expected to make cuts, this sacred cow just keeps on going. And going. And going.

Well, finally someone woke up! Each kid gets a driver that waits to be called all day. Nora's vehicle has car seats in it! The mayor's valet/administrative whatever at City Hall has a driver and a secretary (he packs mayors and the wife's luggage for trips, picks up laundry and on an on) and his grown son gets driven around!
this is enough already, I have sickness now.

DaMayor needs 24 hour protection from his son Patrick. Story has it his injuries from falling off his mayoral bike ride were actually cause by his son.

daley does that because that is what was done for him. Police carried his spoiled little ass around and got him out of scrapes and took care of the dui accidents when he was a young pup.

Yes, there is a fleet of cars and drivers for the Daley family. Heck, before his mom passed away, there was a squad assigned to sit in front of the Daley home 24/7 in Bridgeport.
My, my, all this work keeping the Daley's schedules straight. No wonder Sam Roti is a commanding officer and gets a merit pick.
I recall once when Daley's son was at a bar in 018, acting a fool and stole either one of the ropes or the actual stanchion that it was attached to and walked out the door.
The bouncer (unaware of the relationship) grabbed him, called the police (018) and signed complaints.
At some point in time, ol' boy fesses up who he is, some calls were made and poof the (city licensed) gin mill retracts their complaint and the kid is sent home to daddy shortshanks.
And who ever said justice wasn't swift in Chicago, Cook County?!

This shit has been going on forever. Shanks team of "security specialists" are really just highly paid butlers,chauferrs etc. Anyone in the Daley clan,even some close friends, have these guys at their beck and call for whatever reason they feel like.

As a poster said the mayor's Mr. Belvedire,Pat Mclain, also has a driver and vehicle at his command. Pat is a very heavy 11th Warder who controls who does and doesn't get on the mayor's detail. Pat doesn't have much of a job other than being like Shanks personal assistant. Pat schedules all Shank's trips,deals with the luggage and pretty much any and all that Shanks wants him to do. Since Shanks can't do anything for himself Pat is kept busy.
Maybe an enterprising reporter could look into Pat Mclain and the power that he yields. Maybe someone could ask Jim Keating about all the wasted resources on the mayor's detail. Of course Jimmy Keating would never bite the hand that feeds him.

It was formerly used as the police gym and now it is used as a city garage for various vehicles.
Wagonman says , How can the coppers assigned to his dishonor hold their heads up. Some of the detail used to be good guys, but now they are holding their tongues, I guess money talks

True story. Patrick was brought into the station and before you know it, the club owners saw their liquor license and entire business go flashing before their eyes and graciously decide not to press charges.
Remember the mobbed up Streets & San guy who was arrested in a fancy hotel with his bitch and a gun? Greasy Alderman Banks had a closed door session with Joe the Boss and like magic, the young man was sent to a hospital instead of jail. This in spite of spitting in a sergeant's face at the desk in front of other officers.
It must have been the kind, humanitarian words spoken behind closed doors by Alderman Banks.
Some shit never changes.
Detatched Services or whatever the Fuck it's called these days has always been "compromised".

Why keep 5 or 6? He doesn't need or deserve any police bodyguards. He is not royalty. Other officials from other cities don't get bodyguards. If he feels he needs protection he can hire his own guards with his own fucking money not mine or any other taxpayers!

Why did the city clerk Delvalle dump his deatil when he was elected and now drives himself,fuels his own car, has no "servants"! Media have you looked into this waste of manpower overpaid servants? why is the garage on 35th and Normal full of New leased vehicles to be used by the daley family whenever they need a CPD driver and free gas! Why is there an entire line of "front line" low mileage police spec cars kept at 51st and Wentworth for the exclusive use of politicians when their city cars are being repaired?

I worked in the 9th District in the late 60's and early 70's. The way the Daley children were treated was and continues to be a sin. Young Richard was taken to DeLaSalle every day by PO John Corr whose son coincedentially became a big shot in the Fire Department. Go figure!!! John Townsend would rush to front door to carry any bag the Mayor may not have had the energy to carry. That means Richard the First never lifted anything heavier than 2 ounces in his life. This is Marthas Vineyard West and has been for years.

I Know Delvalle and asked him why he dumped his detail the answer " the police belong protecting citizens not a politician,I am a man have a driver's license and can take myself wherever I need to go!" Why do the others have details? Especially the treasurer no one knows who she is,except when Mike Shields exposed her dishonesty with "our" pension fund! The family and friends plan with "our" money!

I believe tht it was formerly a Marine Corps Reserve staging facility. Then in the 70's the CPD used it as a gym and as a training facility. I remember doing riot traning and psych testing there with all those muddy green walls and cracked plaster.
There were always a few vehicles inside there, so gym, garage or school, it was an all purpose building.
The detail guys have no "specialized skills" except of course "how much cream you want in the coffee sir"! Other than that none! Just a bunch of valets, years ago chuck goudie from channel 7 exposed many of them but as usual the taxpayers get hosed and nothing happens!
Re: 2:45AM, Heard it from a "very" good source many years ago. Mom and Dad both went into the Hospital one night. Lil Patrick came home intoxicated and beat the shit out of both of them. This was after his problem at North Park College with his SUV Landscaping Job. By the way, a Lt in charge of security was made Commander over the incident. The next night,the Michigan Incident etc, And don't forget the LaSalle Street thing, that I think someone (FBI) made him join the Army.. Was kicked out of West Point back in the late 90's.
....ever since Andy Shaw was caught by the city running an illegal 'bed and breakfast' OUT OF HIS OWN HOME, he has been able to to move freely about Chicago.... as a result of a successful neutering at the Vet....
