Why are the Commanders nominating individuals that are not even under their current command?

Several District Commanders nominate from outside of their current District...WTF!

And you wonder why no one does any work in the Districts anymore.

RAY HAMILTON, and he was put in by "Commander" retired sergeant ROMAN", what are the odds of that?

Clearly working an inside house-mouse spot is the way to go if you want to make lieutenant. All you people out there actually working a car doing police work are idiots.

AFUCKINGMAZING!!!!!!!!!

3. Promote Ray Ray meritoriously

4. Immediately put Ray Ray in SWAT as a LT.

Every young P.O. or SGT, do not fool yourself.
Merit picks are chosen far in advance. Do not rush for that degree, you are only fooling yourself. No one cares if had great arrests or impressive resumes. They are not even looked at. It is strictly a political operation.
Remember that hen asked for more activity or go that extra step. You are only one step closer to a lawsuit or making the triple merit bosses look good for hard work they have never done. Don't say you will stop working when you get your next lawsuit, be smart now!

9/03/2010 11:41:00 AM

And the Patrol Division continues to get shit on again! All these Sgts in patrol working their asses off, shorthanded as hell, and what is the payback for this? Nine merit appointees, none of them coming from patrol! You mean to tell me the only merit worthy people work in units where they manage a handful of people at a time as opposed to sergeants who, at times, working by themselves during a shift?

Bob Roman must have some real good pictures of somebody with little boys, or vice-versa. This is two merit lists where this CIVILIAN has taken a choice for JFled. RH is a one way piece of garbage that will only do what benefits RH or Masters x3. Start the pool going on how long before he gets a Commander's spot somewhere!

I worked for two of the Merit picks, Duffin and Sanchez, and I can say, great picks. They were both working police officers, both very old school, and both out for the real police. I know people will chime in that they suck, but I'd work for them.

Also worked with two of the list, Milmine and Mike Casey, both top notch, both extremely intelligent, and both will do great, and will be good for this department.

I hope all four go to spots were they can actually lead, and help. We need it.

Triple merit isn't always a bad thing. As always it depends on the person. I know of the character of one of them and he is the type of patrolman and boss you want on your side. One of the most highly decorated officers there is including being involved in multiple "real" shootings. But most importantly he is always there for his officers. Both on a personal level and work level.

Ask any detective and they'll tell you that they have been told, the bosses don't care about property crimes anymore. The only thing they care about are Agg. Batt w/ handgun & homicide.

Now with Mike Casey being promoted to Lt. from 022, maybe he can do some good in the recent home invasions that have been happening in the area of 107th & Drake, 108th & Central Park, and 106th & Homan. These invasions are being done in the daytime. Thanks a lot to the CAPS program or Area Two for NOT distributing flyers to the public on what vehicles or descriptions of the offenders. We see are taxes are just used for the " other " neighborhoods.

Congrats to John Doherty!

He has basically run the Area 2 DD after dark for the past several years with minimal manpower. That position is almost certainly the most difficult a Sgt can have. Lots of crazy shit comes in after dark and ONE Sgt is responsible to answer all of it.

Kevin Duffin Is another who had that same job in Area 1.

These two have more experience handling serious police situations than the entire command staff put together. They have the experience and confidence that is desperately needed in patrol.

Our loss will be someone's gain.

....don't get me going on this one. pleaaaaassssseeee.....if this is true, and only if this is true...congratulations to keith milmine. he was in 004 and then sgt. of area 2 gun team. he is a great guy that had his share of police involved shootings and is beloved by those crazy cats on the area 2 gun team. milmine knows the streets and is an asset to the department. i am sure the gun guys will miss this breath of fresh air kind of guy. the other ones on the list....pleeeeaaaaaassssseeee don't get me going.

Good going Keith Milmine. Keith Milmine is a man in a kids body. He does not even look like a cop. But he will make a fine Lt. Trouble is, they might not let him in to his own promotion party, thinking he's a nose-picking, video-game playing, teen-ager! Congrats Keith! Your friends from 004.

WHY ARE EXEMPTS ALLOWED TO PUT PEOPLE IN THAT DON'T EVEN WORK IN THEIR DISTRICT/UNIT??

9/03/2010 01:12:00 PM

Because the merit selection is clouted and fixed and it stinks.

There should be only 5 or 10% merit selection.
The selected should be from an exempt that works for the exempt.
There should be more diversity and NOT just the minorities merited.

Better yet, they should promote from the list.....they should announce a cut off from the list AND the LAST class should be ALL merit by selecting ALL eligible by pulling their names from a hat with everyone present so they see it is legit. It's not fair that the MERITs jump ahead of those on the list deserving their promotion. It's not fair that the MERITS not only jump ahead, they have seniority as well.
The whole system stinks because it is sanctioned by the crook Daley and his merry band of thieves at shitty hall. It is a slap in the face to everyone in patrol that NOT ONE sgt from patrol made it meritoriously.
Congrats to all who made it from the list.

SCC: please post those who have been double (sgt to lt) and triple merit (dic, sgt, lt) promoted.

The best part of this is that it's true.

Out of 18 merit picks for sergeant and lieutenant only 1 pick from Patrol? Superintendent Weis should be fired for this reason alone. He is clearly biased to specialized units.

District Commanders need to nominate candidates from their commands period. If their nominees are so good convince them to come to your district to work so you could nominate them.

A superintendent who worked in this organization and understood what makes it tick would have had the sense to pick some candidates from Patrol. There were plenty of excellent candidates that could have fulfilled the requirements of racial balance.

Mr. Mayor just look at what this clown has done. He put a DS in charge of Patrol who doesn't give a whit for its well being. And now he has virtually ignored Patrol for promotion.

A Superintendent that truly believes in the front line troops, and that support units are just that, support, would have made the vast majority of merit selections from Patrol.

Please send this guy packing, and send us someone who actually believes that Patrol matters. We have been called the red headed step child before, but this is getting ridiculous.

I'm not a fan or foe of either but Roman is no longer sworn so why does he have a sworn title. This is against G.O. Just because his son works the mayors detail should not make a difference. Also why is Goldstein a Director? He's sworn so his title should be Commander. You can't pick and choose your title people. There are rules.

That was really close. I thought for sure I would lose my spot in a beat car on days in a nice district. thank God they aren't trying to make me wear strips or a bar and command some mopes on midnights somewhere.

I am safe again for a while. Gotta run and get a mover and some parkers and event numbers to justify my continued presence on a beat car.

If they made me take a promotion I don't know what I would do, as it is I just hope to be left alone for another two years, then one last year on medical and then adi-fucking-os.

Bradley and Oberg weren't promoted because of the heat generated by the postings on this web site, and by the fact that Hamilton was also a Supt's pick. And to those who doubt that those two, who were recently reassigned from HQ, weren't going to be promoted before all of the attention was focused on them - YOU'RE WRONG. Hamilton wasn't reassigned, so now it doesn't look like it was planned all along (or so they think). If the promotions for Bradley and Oberg went through, it was proof that they knew, because they were moved before the nominating process was even announced.
One more for those who doubt that "the fix was in." The Supt. gave the bad news to Bradley personally.

The plan with Ray Ray was obvious months ago.

1. Have Ray Ray pass SWAT training
(happened under questionable and unethical
circumstances--ask any other SWAT nominee)

2. Do not put Ray Ray in SWAT right after training.

3. Promote Ray Ray meritoriously

4. Immediately put Ray Ray in SWAT as a LT.
( He can go to SWAT immediately because he was
not promoted from this Unit)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This ^^^^.

So, as a SWAT Lt., how long before the Wonder Twins go over to SWAT?

Bartuch and Herlehy will be going to swat. They will probably be going there as trainers-with their extensive background and all (sarcasm). CPD has the three fucking stooges going to swat. God help this city!

Kevin Duffin is exactly the type of supervisor that this department is desperately in need of in this era of lack of leadership. He is a supervisor that continually made the TOUGH and RIGHT decisions, that looked out for each of the detectives under his supervision on 1st watch in Area 1, and for the patrolmen whose incidents he was responsible for. Sgt. Duffin does not surrender the moral high ground. Whatever district or unit gets him as a Lt. will be the better for it. Our loss will be someone's gain. Area One Detective

Not to be cocky but it's true, all good Sergeants are not out of patrol, but from units.

You got to really take care of your people, know what your doing and have some big balls to make some key decisions to be in a unit.

So if you have been a Sgt in a district for a while and haven't been asked to be in a unit then your not doing the big three right.
1) take care of your people
2) know how to make a key decision
3) Have some big balls

Damn! The Sgt. who shot the asshole who murdered that officer in the parking lot of 007 didn't make it meritoriously? What does it take to make merit now, just a good set of kneepads?

That's because his Commander is a one way jerk-off.

congrat to all future LT's who made it whether by merit or on your own now it is time to remember treat everyone with the same respect you would treat your family by doing so you will gain the respect you deserve
never forget that we are all here for a reason but most important do not let the title take over the person cause your name should mean something to those who look up to you will see your journey
much brighter now do your job and
do it with pride don't let the old timers make you into someone no one knows may your careers be full with caring hearts for those who make you look good god bless!

no one qualified for a merit pick from the districts? Guess all of the best sergeants are in units...

REPLY:
Not to be cocky but it's true, all good Sergeants are not out of patrol, but from units.

You got to really take care of your people, know what your doing and have some big balls to make some key decisions to be in a unit.

So if you have been a Sgt in a district for a while and haven't been asked to be in a unit then your not doing the big three right.
1) take care of your people
2) know how to make a key decision
3) Have some big balls

you have to be kidding....no?

OT: Steve Caluris moving fast as dark horse to replace Weis

I know some folks don't like Caluris, nobody is loved by everyone, but... He knows his shit and takes care of his troops, you can never deny that. He would be good for the Department, knows how toplay the game without fuc(*&g over the police.

Okay.... Now can officers on the on Detective list also get promoted? I've been under 50 on the list for the last three years, I recall J-Fled on a Pax 501 when you first got here promising on making 85 detectives, we're still waiting BITCH!!!!!!

Dufus, the Department asks every month if they can make detectives, the Budget Director of the city and Daley make the final call, so shut the hell up if you don't know how the Department and city work!
