JJJ's Opponent
We didn't even know he had an opponent until someone here mentioned it. Then Kass does a column on it:

But U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Bud Light, and his "social acquaintance" have changed all that.
"The phone's been ringing lately," said Hayes, 36, Jackson's conservative Republican opponent in the 2nd Congressional District. "The media's finally getting interested in my campaign. The voters are tired of him. And so, yes, my phone is ringing."
And he's named Issac Hayes? This just gets better and better. This could be even more entertaining than we thought.

Thank you for mentioning how hilarious his name is. I was beginning to think I was the only person who laughed everytime I heard this man's name brought up!

Like it or not it looks like Rahm's gonna be rammed up our butt. I surely hope all the voters wake up & do what JJ wanted to do to Ears. Wake up Chicago ! We're about to be placed under the rule of the thieves choice to further bankrupt Shitcago.

Hayes seems like a decent dude.
Of course, there's no telling what motivates a man and that sentiment might change on a dime, but on the surface, he seems all right and certainly a damn sight better choice for that community than those promising to hang more entitlement millstones around everyones neck, keeping them totally incompetent and child-like, unable to fend for themselves in the real world much like a wild animal that's been fed by tourists and can no longer do anything for itself...
The one thing that bothers me about Shaft (which I will call him, just because it's funny and awesome) is that on his website, the 'issues' statement rings very hollow. Soaring, ideological talking points without any firm position, save for maybe vouchers and faith.
He doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell of beating JJJ, but whatever. He's the smart choice relative to Junior.

Saw the guy at Beck's Hoffman Estates appearance.
Both Hayes and a young man named Plummer spoke very well and appeared sincere.
In fact, Plummer the Lt. Gov. candidate running with Brady struck me as the better candidate for Gov. then Brady.
Brady came off to me as a typical politician speaking in platitudes ( neverthe less, I'll vote Brady).
Hayes' got a chance. A chance in hell maybe if the hood is more evil then good, but none the less he's got a chance.

If voters can elect Jane Bryne and Harold Washington, then why can't the same be done with the police and other liked minded people? Where is the police movement candidate?
Sorry to read in today's paper that Hoffman won't get in the Mayoral race. They article noted that both he and Emanuel are both Jewish (apparently, they didn't want to divvy up considerable Jewish support in this mayoral race). If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with Hoffman. This race could get to be very interesting.
