Beautiful night to honor our fallen. Donna Marquez president of the Gold Star Family for the last four years managed to thank everyone and specifically "Superintendet Phil Cline, he will always be the superintendent." Not one mention of J Fled. Cline received support from the crown gathered. J Fled spoke and a couple of "Officers" that must new to the area found themselves with the profound need to clap at his being announced and after his B/S. I would say what were they thinking, but I think that they weren't. Silence sends a thousand messages! All in all a beautiful ceremony with several people added through the years that had never been honored because their deaths were not considered "in the line of duty" but rather work related.

New statue added to honor officers catastriphically (sp) injured. Nice touch and they were giving Cline credit for getting that done.

I don't care that Cline gets paid...he got the memorial started and brought it to what it is...the most beautiful in the country. He is on a mission along with other dedicated people and I take my hat off to them.

Saw other clearer images on NBC news this AM. Intentionally or not, this adds A LOT to the protest today.

Neat.

Was this the CNA building? They do a lot of these cool light displays for various Chicago events and causes.

I'm a police recruit and had the pleasure of attending last night. This is something that every police officer should attend at some point in there career. The set up with the bagpipes and the police helicopter riding overhead with sirens blaring plus CPD in the buildings behind us was just awesome. I had chills. Great job by all who planned this. I am honored to be joining this dept.

Agree with kc9dto- would be only right that this skyline was kept up longer for optimum impact. I bet if citizens voted, they would opt for it. These photos always make me want to weep. God bless you, CPD. God bless the families of the Brothers in Arms lost. May your departed rest in God's loving embrace.
