it's all on the legit....no? part of trying to move personnel south and west (by bid or management)?...and, as an aside, can anyone describe the games going on at 35th Street (and elsewhere) re: personnel, decisions (or lack of); the CPD has been lost since J-Fled; it's REALLY lost now..
I finally got some time on the job, and there's no openings in a decent district.
Also, everything like such as, the Iraq, the 4 and 2 sucks. Give me my 3 consecutive 4 days weekends and 10 hour days.
For all the residents in the City losing their police... sorry.
BUT, for the first time in over 2 years, 011 has rapids on afternoons.
Call me a bit selfish, but as for officer's safety... having 3 or 4 more cars on in the afternoons increases our odds of survival... ...the fact that we made it through the summer without POs injuried (3-4 one-man beat cars in the summer, no other cars)

As a p.o. that has been in two shootings (one VERY newsworthy - in papers & on the TV for over a year)it was refreshing to see that Mike Shields' Team has retained Pat Camden as a spokesman. All you goofs ripping on this like it's done to make Shields look good are wwaaayyyyyy off the mark. It's done to make US look good. Look good when the savages are screaming that "da poooleece kilt that boy and he aint even had no gun" in from of the cameras AND CITYWIDE FLOP SAYS LITTLE OR NOTHING, TOO LITTLE OR TOO LATE. If you come to 011 beware, especially on 3rd watch where a Sgt threatened to actually shoot another PO in the station infront of an arrestee no less over an apparent mental breakdown. This guy should have been thrown off the job a long time ago but he's still here and has more screws loose than a hooptie parked in a vacant lot on the 3700 block of Chicago Avenue. This guy is a total nut job and full of more warning signs than the break down lane on the Dan Ryan during summer construction. This is how the scam works:
City "increases the size of the unit", then puts it up for bid. When there aren't enough qualified bidders, City can fill those positions at it's discretion.
This means they are opening far more spots then there are people to work in those spots, and when they're not filled they think t hey can move anyone they want at will into those spots.
Problem lies in the fact, and the FOP should be held accountable for this fact, is that the City is 'increasing the size of the units" WITHOUT HAVING THE NECESSARY MANPOWER TO DO IT. The "Employer" is fully aware that the CPD is understaffed and there are not enough patrol officers to go around, yet they think they can get around the contract by creating MORE POSITIONS IN PATROL THAN THERE ARE OFFICERS TO FILL THEM and then just take people from their unit as they see fit.
The key to this issue is, for each and every month the city refuses to hire new personnel yet claims 50 to 60 new job openings then backfills at their discretion, the FOP is to bring this to the court that there ARE NO REAL OPENINGS AND THAT THE EMPLOYER IS CREATING FAKE POSITIONS THAT THERE ARE NO AVAILABLE BODIES FOR IN ORDER TO MOVE EMPLOYEES AT WILL.
The Employer can not create job openings knowing there are no employees to fill those positions!

My neighbor another copper is not on budget got a bill for $1,100,and another not on budget was $658.00! Called com ed was told to pay it or "We will shut of electric! Are we paying for the people who don't want to pay their bills? More bullshit in the state of corruption Illinois!

Thanks for the info. I have been an advocate of Pat Camden ever since he lost his job as the Department spokesman. It has been my belief that the FOP show have hired him YEARS ago. I can't think of one person except Pat that has the connections in the newsmedia, is articulate, comes across as well as he does on television and has the unique ability to cut through the BS and get our message out to the public. But his talents should not end at OIS. He should also tell the public about the pension fund and the reason it is in the shape it's in. How we are not allowed to collect Social security because of what Rostenkowski did to us, etc.,etc., etc.
BTW, I am not a buddy of Pat. I've never even met him or spoke to him. But I have admired him for what he did when he was our spokesman. But I will be voting for the Shields team because anyone that will put Pat Camden on their team has to be a notch above the others IMHO.
If you have 15+ years on the job then bidding to 025 is a good idea. You can work days and the work atmosphere is much different. Plus you are close to all of the good north side neighborhoods. If you have less than 10 years and you bid to 025 then you will stay on 1st watch for a very long time because their favorites on 3rd watch is already made out and the only way you can make either the 2nd or 3rd watch is by bid.
Uh oh, something must be up with 025 since there's never been so many openings before.

Manpower reallocation will only be from posting openings in shit districts. You won't be seeing discretionary movement into 020, 016, 019,018, et al for years.
Reallocation is too hot a topIc for all the reasons cited before. If you are low person in a slower district, plan on being low person for a long time. On the other hand, if you are young and want days, you can be JoeShitTheRagman if you don't mind working in the land of BabyMamaDrama and Red Pop.

Yep...it seems Dubs got busted ripping down Shields Team's posters and was called out for it by one of the guys on the ticket. Then Dubs goes off on the p.o. who saw the whole thing, and goes off on him in front of a prisoner, even threatening to shoot him. P.O. stands his ground & promptly notifies the WC of this VERY REAL threat. Problem handled in-house (like MOST probs should be), but cases like this is an exception...Dubs needs to go before he hurts someone...police officer or otherwise. When I first came on, the old-timers taught me when it was busy, you didn't go in with bullshit. No TVB, no 1 baggers, no surveillance, nothing...PERIOD...at least until it had quieted down or dude was a complete asshole. 011 afternoons, you people know you're shorthanded, and busy as hell, and still you guys go in with this bullshit. Even when your Capt. or Lt. tell you NOT to come in with bullshit...you still do. Why? Are you to scared to actually handle jobs where you might have to handle paper? Heaven forbid. I'm in what could be called a phone call unit. It is very frustrating having friends who can't get out of the District when my unit is filled with entitled do-nothings that can't be moved. PO's with more clout than Chief's, don't kid yourselves, they are out there by the handful. So instead of dumping these dog asses and bringing in people who would love the opportunity to do a different job, and do it 100 times better than the status quo, the Department as a whole gets short changed. It really is a shame. Just imagine how much more effective this Department would be if they dumped the dogs from Units and gave the workers a shot!

17 people that came into 025 on the start of the first period, 10 went to 3rd watch, 7 to 1st watch. the 12 new openings will most likely be sent to 1st watch. 3rd watch has full sheets. 1st watch needs more bodies. expect to be on 1st watch for tbe remainder of the year. last bid spot for 3rd watch was oct 05 when we did watch bids. expect that to rise. a lot of officers wanting to be closer to home have bid in.

I spent 2 hours last night in 010 [10-99] serving subpoenas and doing follow-up interviews [Western - Damen / 22 - Blue Island] and never even saw a 10th district unit.
A thank-you to the examot and her driver who slid by to check on me when I called for an event number for a tow.
007 & CAROTHERS the absolute worst Commander 007 has had in 20 years. Liar, Hypocrite, Arrogant, Ignorant, and no clue how to be a boss on this job . . . BUT somebody promoted him. I don't blame him because somebody sponsored him all the way and allowed this travesty to take place in 007. ONLY 45 did PAR forms!!!
Shields team wants to bring in a spokesperson. who will pay his hefty salary? Is that with your Union dues? just asking. Also where is the experience/ knowledge of the Union in this group?

You can make the bid to 3rd watch with 7 years, but why would you want to?? 1st watch in 025 is the way to go, and no I am not new.

Same bullshit in 025. Let's face it, a lot of people are just plain old selfish. They only care about themselves. Last night in 025 1st watch we had about four cars down and yet on a busy Saturday night there were some fools bringing in 1811's and drivers driving on a suspended drivers license and tvb's. What a fucking joke. We are our own worst enemy. If we are short, then stay on the streets so if something happens then you can help out your brothers in blue.

Thanks for the info. I have been an advocate of Pat Camden ever since he lost his job as the Department spokesman. It has been my belief that the FOP show have hired him YEARS ago. I can't think of one person except Pat that has the connections in the newsmedia, is articulate, comes across as well as he does on television and has the unique ability to cut through the BS and get our message out to the public. But his talents should not end at OIS. He should also tell the public about the pension fund and the reason it is in the shape it's in. How we are not allowed to collect Social security because of what Rostenkowski did to us, etc.,etc., etc.
BTW, I am not a buddy of Pat. I've never even met him or spoke to him. But I have admired him for what he did when he was our spokesman. But I will be voting for the Shields team because anyone that will put Pat Camden on their team has to be a notch above the others IMHO.

They must need a spokesman. citywide is silent on so many issues. After shootings, all you hear is about poleese murdering poor honor students. Not a peep from citywide.
Where was citywide on pension underfunding these past 9 years? Finally a funding bill gets passed with the warning that a trailer bill will follow to try to take back what the funding bill got.

017- Looks like all 12 openings to 025 will be filled by p.o.'s from the 3rd watch in 017!! We all know there are a lot of problems with the 3rd watch female Capt. and LT. Mike Mealer looks the other way while for the second period in a row more than 15 par forms have been filled out to leave this hostile place of work. The Capt. on the 3rd watch is not of sound mind. The things she says at roll call and the way she treats the men and women on the 3rd watch is undescrible!!! OT) Did anyone else get thier Com Ed bills jacked up? I live in Garfield ridge and my current budget balance is $650.00,in 1 months time the budget rose which has never happened before. My neighbor another copper is not on budget got a bill for $1,100,and another not on budget was $658.00! Called com ed was told to pay it or "We will shut of electric! Are we paying for the people who don't want to pay their bills? More bullshit in the state of corruption Illinois!

Same thing happened to me last year.
Mine went from a monthly budget amount of $83.00 to $303 !!!!!!
I called them and was told the same thing - you have to pay it.
This is because of the idiots they have working form them that do not take an actual meter reading and keep estimating your bills.
I paid it every month for four months BUT I also requested that someone come out and read my meter.
No one ever showed. I requested again someone come out and read my meter. No one ever came.
Well, now I read my own meter and call in the reading. I am honest and do not try to fudge anything because at some point they will come and read the meter!
My bills are back down to a reasonable budget amount. It took about a year to get it back down.
These bid openng will all be a thing of the past if the City gets its way by revamping its current structure.
Watch for contractural acceptable 90 day details to these democratic loyal areas.
Its ALL about politics and public perception.

First off I got rid of the Sirius/XM now the iPad as my gadget of choice since i get both tunes and games. I now sit in the park since that's where I get the best 4G coverage, and my arms are all ready done. I will be working on my neck tattoos as the spring starts, and 011 is still a dump!
I've been detailed out of 004 for a while and just heard about the retirement of Captain Terry MacMahon. I can honestly say that he was the absolute best boss I have ever had the honor or privlige of working for. A person is lucky if he ever gets 1 or 2 bosses like him in their working lives, because he was one of the few bosses that would treat you like a human being. God Bless you sir and may you enjoy many years of happiness in your retirement.

The point I am making is that in 025 there are a lot of officers with clout. There are a lot of officers with less than 5 years on the job working on 2nd watch via "management" and there are a lot of officers with less than 2 to 3 years working on 3rd watch.
Like I said, if you want to make the bid for 2nd watch, you better have 16+ years to be on the safe aide and if you want to work 3rd watch, you better have 9+ years. Otherwise, you'll end up on 1st watch.

There is help available. Plenty of openenings still in 06, 04, 07, and 11. You can get there all by yourself if things are so bad there. I am sure they would be glad to have you.
