- A woman from Chicago’s Northwest Side wanted to start the New Year with a marriage proposal, with help from police.
[...] Ana Perez, 40, called 911 around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, claiming her boyfriend was attacking her.
When police arrived, she changed her story, admitting she was trying to scare her boyfriend into marrying her.
Police in the Grand Central District were not amused, and charged Perez with disorderly conduct.
Between this and the sausage domestic below, one has to wonder if there isn't a severe case of stupid going around town lately.

the best are the handcuff calls--- my boyfriend was playing with these cuffs and we can't find the key--- please help him--- at least most are smart enough to cover him up with a blanket before they call.....

The current system requires a Police response almost everytime someone gets a hair across their ass whether or not it's real or imagined.
Another systemic stymie designed to negatively impact effective Policing in Chicago.
Other cities judiciously screen and re-screen 911 calls.
Not so in Chicago... If the "catered to constituents" want The Police to respond to l'il stanky-leg not getting up to go to the free babysitter, err... CPS, then damnit, the "catered to constituents" aka loyal democratic voters, get whatever they want.
Besides... The rev'runs and alderfools have crammed OEMC full of their spawn, family and supporters.
Wanna talk about Officer safety being compromised from both ends?
It will take a LOT of arrests and a LOT OF JAIL TIME before this foolishness is curtailed.

I don't know where you work but stupid is on display nightly almost everywhere I have worked.
I hope that guy ran like hell and never looked back......but, I bet he is cuddleing with her right now and they have concieved.
The severe case of stupidity going around town is a never ending pattern not a new trend. Whether you're in Englewood, Uptown, Austin, Humboldt Park, etc. The faces change but the same idiocy continues. So does the increase of our taxes to pay for all of the extra POH-leece, EMS (Extra-management svcs- I have a sore throat take meez to da hospitoll) and Fire (I locked my keys in my apartment so I called for 911 for a fire response). We ARE becoming the new Detroit....God Help US!!
It was nice of them to go easy and charge that fine citizen with only Disorderly Conduct. As of January 1, false 911 calls were changed to a felony. Although no one holds out any hope that the charges will be approved.
The human race is NOT evolving; we are devolving.

Boy, ain't it the truth. All the remarks here about hostile, argumentative call takers and dispatchers who can't even be understood over the air...where there's smoke, there is invariably fire. C'mon. Anyone on the zone -- any zone -- knows it's true.
Idiots on Z12 dispatching a car to a tavern to "check the well-being" of a drinker on New Year's Eve...year off to a great start. Couldn't make this s__t up if you tried.
I have no problem checking on the well-being of a drinker. Some of my favorite drinkers reside temporarily on lawn furniture streetside on my block.
I'm single again I may give this a go.
