More PODS for Everyone

An idea that takes officers off the street and puts them in a room just got worse:
  • Letter came down from the Techies the other day...... POD rooms to be set up in other districts (016, 017 025). Seems DTEB likes Henny Penny's POD room idea, and wants to have more.
Pardon our questions, but when the Department was giving tours of the Fusion Center or whatever it was called at the 911 Building, wasn't the idea to have light duty or retired cops monitoring all the cameras so as to free up able bodied persons to respond to observed incidents? So why are we shorting already short Districts by taking cars off the street to monitor the cameras?

Do not initiate arrests from these POD rooms! Any arrest only justifies the argument for fewer police and makes ourselves and the public less safe! Do what I do. Stare blankly at the screen and dream of a time before you accepted this dead end bullshit job. ........now let's hear all the clout heavy punks sound off about how lazy I am.

was in 007, they have two pods in the lobby that work great, but they have two computers in the processing room that are down.
Maybe bubble head can get one of his techno geeks to switch them out, nah he is to busy telling everyone how great he is...

Too bad the bums that call 011's POD room home aren't lucid long enough to train them to be effective POD watchers.

They'd be able to free-up manpower while adding comedic, albeit odiferous, relief to the daily TrahanASS nightmare that the fellas over in 011 have to endure.

And only a completely useless hack like Henny Penny would be able to turn an abomination like this POD experiment into something that other Bossholes would clamor over as an exceptional or groundbreaking innovation in police technology.

It just goes to show you how out of touch and unqualified the "leaders" of this once-great department really are.

By the way, the grapevine says that officers that make arrests in 011 via a POD are "rewarded", but the boys in 011 ain't talking specifics...anyone care to spill the beans? If true in any capacity, I hope they can see thru the bullshit - this is just another way that the "Chosen Few" use, abuse and step on the non-clouted for their own advancement.

DON'T FALL FOR IT. LET PENNY FALL FLAT ON HER FACE.

Did the idiots who came up with this idea take the terrorism class that we all had to take. Is it really a good idea to let the enemy see our technology and techniques? Why don't we give a tour of the fusion center to Osama Bin Laden. How about giving Bill Ayers a ride along with Bomb and Arson.

I'd bet you wouldn't initiate an arrests from anywhere. So even if the POD is effective (I doubt it) you're saying it's all about paying you something for nothing and not about any results one way or the other. It doesn't take a clout heavy punk to figure you out.

There are idiots at the pod room always calling in illegal parking at this one corner in my district.

They actually make parking jobs out of it even though I 6A them without even going there from across the district.

There is a day care center and they have a curb loading zone and it gets busy at certain times, it even says "XXXX Day Care" clearly over the Pod picture.

Those "light duties" and retirees sure can't read.

heres the deal if you make an arrest off of the pods -

the rest of the guys that were supposed to watch the pods for that watch don't have to. so if the first car on 2/W that are assigned to watch makes the almighty DOPW or selling loose cigarette arrest, pods go unmonitored until 3/W starts.

But what I don't understand is this - if these pods were SOOOO important to watch 24 hrs a day since they started this shit, why can they be left unmanned if someone makes a pinch off of them???

ANSWER: they want pod-related activity (READ: QUESTIONABLE ARRESTS) to justify this f***ed-up program especially since they plan on expanding it citywide (Cmdrs own words according to my source in the front office).

DON'T get yourself caught in the trick bag trying to make the Cmdr or other idiot bosses "look good". when their desperate they resort to incentives like this. and incentives are what get officers suspended, fired or worse. Like West Side Inside Do Nothing said, let this experiment fail and fail bad...DON'T take the bait. Enjoy doing nothing for a couple hours in the pod room where its nice & warm.

The Fusion Center is in HQ, the POD watchers are in 911 and were supposed to be light duty or retired PO's, hired back. The Fusion center doesn't watch the POD's. They have access to them to retrieve information to support the coppers in the field, when needed.

Now, why didn't I think of that?

They are "rewarded" by having devices placed in their ears that sift out the sound of the CO's screechingly offensive voice. Forget coming to 011 thinking you're going to get this plum assignment pal. The prize of those earplugs has upped the seniority on this spot to 54yrs.

with only the beat cars up in 16 on days now they will put another p/o down watching the pod camera. they will not use 1682 the only foot post officer who has to have a car because she is cold. that is unless she wants to watch the pod camera. the homefront is not safe since atkins retired

This is called "having your face rubbed in the dirt." Stupidest thing you've ever seen in a police station, bums laying around, no security, and the commander comes through not only smelling like a rose but with her "program" being EXPANDED.

Let the public go into those rooms and just take whatever they want. Guy walking off with a laptop? Must be the tech guy, going to repair it.

This will be over soon enough. Don't worry, she will get hers somehow.

I just heard Danny Davis on the radio. Can someone tell me just what the hell is a "beel"? He was talking about Cuhngress passing beels. I enjoyed hearing him speak so slowly and saying very little. I'd actually hope he'd retire soon, but as with Rostenkowski, the replacement was worse and I'm sure good old Danny's replacement would be worse than Danny. Is there any way to stop this downward spiral of the lowest common denominator of these elected fools that represent us?

I also enjoyed hearing about prison reform. A tip, Danny: when someone is in prison, it's normally because they broke the law. If they were prosecuted in Cook County, it was because they broke the law many times and did so egregiously.

SCC, I DO work at the pods at 911, and yes, I AM on medical limited duty, so any of you anonymous wanna be toughguys can take the comment you were going to type and shove it. I did'nt ask to get sick, I don't want to be sick, but it is what it is. I would like to make at least 20 years, but God only knows if that will happen. I STILL HAVE, however, the intestinal fortitude to at least TRY to put food on the table for my family, so I would be willing to see how eager some of YOU would be to voluntinarily retire or go on disability when you could at least do this kind of work. I agree that most of the POD activity is , for the most part, functionally useless. What YOU don't understand is that regardless what you think of it, IT AIN'T GOING NOWHERE ANYTIME SOON!!! It is the way mayors of major cities play the game of "Whose is bigger", from here to London to Mumbai ad nauseum. There have been umpteen reports written about the complete ineffectiveness of these PODS stopping or preventing ANYTHING criminal, but it dosen't matter. Everybody running some form of government wants them. I mean, how else could Big Brother eventually see everything? All this is is is the pre-lims to the Main Event coming real soon. Frankly, I personally think a majority of people who bitch about someone being assigned to the PODS are the same people who eat up the SE and then spend the day telling war stories and trying to decide where to go to lunch (chances are the cheapest place or hotel available) b ut will tell you how hard they are working protecting the passengers on the trains, buses, or airport. RRRIIIGGGHHHTTT. And my name is Booboo the clown.

016? For all the help a quiet, polite local resident gets walking in there you might as well just brick it up the rest of the way to the ceiling. Keep the attitude back there where it belongs.
