State Rep Threatened
A handgun was pointed at the Illinois House's assistant majority leader over the weekend in the city's Heart of Chicago neighborhood.
State Rep. Edward Acevedo, D-Chicago, wasn't injured when confronted about 10:20 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of South Oakley Avenue.
Police said someone in a van pointed a pistol at Acevedo, but the vehicle sped away when he identified himself.
A police spokesman wasn't aware whether Acevedo — a state representative since 1997 and a Chicago police officer since 1995 — identified himself as an elected official or as a police officer. He's on leave from the force while in office.
"STOP! I'm an elected official!!!"
We just don't see that working, especially if the offender pays attention to the happenings in Springfield recently.
In the meantime, rather than use this as an example about how the police department is so shorthanded, even state representatives aren't safe in their own neighborhoods, we're sure Acevedo will be attacking gun rights of the law abiding in the hopes of advancing his stalled anti-gun agenda. Lost in the shuffle will be the irony that Acevedo is permitted to carry a gun to defend himself in the event police aren't be around to protect him while he works to deny regular citizens that very same Right.

hey scc hes a cop why would he push an anti gun agenda??? insteasd of being happy a police officer is an elected offical you are quick to bash him. this is why we will never be united. even when one of us get into poltics you tear him down.
Beside gun violence I've noticed there are a lot of overweight people living in Chicago. I think we need to make an ordinance banning silverware.

I worked with this guy...he is a goof!!!
These gun control people are absolutely incredible. Since that shooting in Arizona, suddenly gun control is back on the agenda and the liberal media is talking it up again, as if the issue is open to debate. There is a method to amend the Constitution and that is the only means by which guns can be banned, what is so damn hard to understand about that ? And yet, on and on they go as if Congress or a local government has any authority in this matter. It is as if the Constitution doesn’t exist or it doesn’t mean anything.
We need to start answering these people with the same attitude they project against us. We should adopt the attitude liberals have when debating the Global Warming Hoax, we should simply say “THE DEBATE IS OVER” ! It’s been over since April 19, 1792 when the Bill of Rights was ratified by all the States.
Why is he allowed to carry a gun? He was only an active police officer for about 2 years. He's been on leave from the police department for 13 years. Can these elected maggots carry firearms? I hope not since they deny that right to their constituents.
Speaking of gun issues..

This is just the first of MANY chickenshit liar politicians trying to get attention and FREE SECURITY DETAILS ALA THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Notice how nothing in this fuckhead's statement can be proven? As in, no SHOT fired which would leave a round somewhere?
What a fucking PUSSY LIAR this guy is!
This shitbag just wants free security so he gets recognized in public since no one gives a fuck who he is now.

Ignoramus, have you ever listened to Acevedo's anti-gun spiel? Have you ever seen he bills he sponsors in Springfield? And you expect SCC, a gun rights supporter, to just fall into line and back anything Acevedo says because he's a cop?
Dude, you are a fucking mush. I suppose you supported Abbate just because he was a cop, too.

so was that other rep t munoz. i think they all have a lot of ghosts in their closets but they are daleys boys and is all good in the hood with that. did acevedo almost get dui after getting his car impounded.
Went to the Academy with EA. Could tell from day one he was a pompous ass. I guess he knew were he was headed. And it wasn't to a shit district on midnights with the rest of us...
25th and Oakley? What else is new. It could be gang shit, outfit shit, a hybrid of the two, or just normal foreplay in that neighborhood.
Ho humm......
Right!!! "Stop I'm an elected official". I seriously wondered about that. Highly doubt that it happened. I think someone is looking for taxpayers to fund some security for him like Burke and several others do. I think this is Bullshit!!!
OT - Speaking of State Rep's, here's another story on a member of that august body:
Unpaid Rent, Bills Add Up As Legislator, CPS Feud
"State Rep. Monique Davis has been embroiled in a lawsuit with the city's school district as it has sought back payments and tried to evict her from an office in a building it owns."
Either way, the taxpayers will be left holding the bag on this one for back rent, court costs, interest, penalties and legal fees, and this self-important goof will just laugh at us. And if her name rings a bell, there's this:
"A year ago, Davis was at the center of another controversy when a statue depicting a life-size slave went missing from Chicago State University, only to turn up inside Davis' legislative office."
And her peoples from the far south side and south burbs just put her back in for her THIRTEENTH TERM! How blissful it must be to be a voting Dumb-ocrat.
This woman has got to be the poster child for TERM LIMITS! But if you're concerned that this has upset her in any way, don't worry:
"I'm not embarrassed. I'm not ashamed by this," said Davis, D-Chicago.
DUH! The ARROGANT, ENTITLED politician truly is a breed all it's own

Danny Davis ALREADY said, last week, that he's been getting threats.
OT - FYI - RE: Aldermanic elections
Thursday, the Chicago Board of Elections overruled the challenge to Michael Carroll's nominating petitions, so he'll be on the ballot in the 46th Ward. Mike Carroll is a Chicago Police Officer who, I'm sure, could use our support.
I know I've seen comments here in the past that he is too liberal by our standards, but trust me, that is the ONLY candidate that these lakefront liberals will vote for anyway. At least Mike will have the connection to the CPD that has not been in Shillerville ever before (Helen is famous for saying "Crime is not my agenda"). Aside from that, his resume' is impressive, to say the least, and the kind of people we should be hoping get elected throughout the City Council (minus the liberal part, I guess).
STOP!!! I'm a democrat and I support your alternative lifestyle of crime and antisocialism. If you shot and kill me I won't be able to keep you on the streets and your 10 kids fed. Just something to think about. Head north where the real money is and no worries, the cops are all down here.
Some good news! I love happy endings.
Retired Detroit cop fatally shoots robbery suspect
January 16. 2011 11:52PM
Detroit — An 18-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday night after attempting to rob a retired Detroit police officer on the city's west side, officials said.
The former officer was leaving a store in the 14700 block of W. Seven Mile about 9:25 p.m. when the suspect approached him, armed with a gun and demanding money, said Sgt. Eren Stephens of the Detroit Police Department.
From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com
"He's on leave from the force while in office."

"The force"?
What is this 1940?
Oh so true...he can defend himself but Joe Citizen is screwed. When the ballon goes up and civil unrest runs rampant and law enforcement is no where to be seen much less able to respond....... the scene(s) in Chicago and that fine state if Illinois will be deplorable. Im glad I live in Missouri where I can legally carry with my permit. God bless stay safe.
Maybe he shouldnt have voted for the tax increase!
Then again he is a democratic! And he gotta do what's best for himself! Thanks for nothing! Just another hack who should be in jail! But knows the right people and votes the right way not to be.
And he wishes he was the police. He was bought off long ago!
Kinda of funny/silly

That also include officers on Disability, they are also on leave of absence.
An active cop for only 2 years and on leave of absence for 14 years and counting??? This is total BS!!! I could not get a leave of absence approved for more than 1 year. I was basically forced to resign from the job because I could not get an extension for a legit, honest reason and my request for an extension was a huge ordeal, in fact, unheard of, as one F/1 secretary with a gun at HQ told me. Yes, I'm the bad guy, I know. I only, like most of you, put my life in danger without hesitation, got abused verbally and physically on the street, got shot at, got a BS CR or two, was denied time due when I needed it, was on time and in uniform for each and every roll call, and even received an occasional Honorable Mention or two for doing my job (being the police). Yet, a politician can be on leave for 14 and some odd years. WOW! I guess Aldercreature Burke is still on his indefinite leave or did he age out (mandatory retirement at age 63) from the job? If they lose one job (fail to get re-elected), they can come back to this job (probably not in a beat car). My leave request had nothing to do with any other employment, quite surely not elected office, and my service, dedication, and loyalty to this job meant nothing. Thanks for being there for me when I needed you the most! Taxpayers, wake the hell up!!!!!!

Earned, Not Given (Hahahahahaha)

Stop! Don't shoot me I'm a elected offical with a really great job that I don,t have to do much at and get at least one maybe two really great pension's. I also have a second job to fall back on, but it's really hard so can't you fine constituents find a working stiff to shoot. Rember education is power fella's.
(OT) Say it ain't so looks like a police boss at midway and a police sergeant are in hot water! Why? Not to reveal anything but how can a "protected" person be 2 places at once? 2 payrolls overlap, and they are allowing a friend to be taken care of! What time is it?
To 12:13;00, EVERY chicago state rep voted to FUCK the working taxpayers. Eddie included.
Eddie has NOT been on leave for 15 years. He goes on leave while in Springfield. I recall reading a story about that.
While 'on duty' he delivers summons for the corporation councils office.
Arguably the easiest duty in the department.

YES, why isn't Crook County Anita Alvarez, States Attorney not investigating this ?
Listening to this idiot talk about gun control is like listening to Shortshanks talk about corruption in Gov't, although he is THE expert.
Remember, 2nd amendment reads " the right of the PEOPLE " Therefore it is incumbent on each person to protect themselves & their loved ones, not the Police, Nanny state or the rev'run$.
Anyone sez' different, fuck em'!

DON'T TREAD ON ME
Hope he still carries and knows how to shoot.
Just got an email blast from forcescience.org. A new study by Dr. Gregory Morrison finds law enforcement training woefully inadequate. The former officer and firearms instructor, now an associate CJ professor at Indiana’s Ball State University, doesn’t quite put it that way, but he should have. Amongst his findings . . .
• In terms of time allocation, “many departments still heavily emphasize requalifying over vital handgun/deadly force training” that introduces new skills and improves existing ones;
• Despite their “vital role,” nearly 40% of agencies do not require firearms instructors to take refresher training once they have been certified;
• Larger departments, which statistically have greater exposure to armed encounters, tend to require fewer firearms training and/or requalifying sessions per year;
• Officers on some agencies are able to pass requalification tests even though many of their shots miss the target entirely, and those who fail to qualify may be allowed to re-shoot until they squeak by, “sometimes without diagnostic and corrective intervention.”
• On whole, “the overarching characteristic” of in-service firearms training is the “wide latitude exercised by departments”–essentially a jumble of inconsistent standards and instructional modalities that too often works to the detriment of officers, agencies, and the communities they serve.

No, it's STAR WARS.
How come he gets to be on leave for so long? They several of us retire after one year and 90 days. Can anyone shed some light on this? Not so much for him, but what the leave policy is since the change?
Isn't this the same goof that showed up at the Central AUto Pound a while back and demanded a car be released, threatening a uniformed officer in the process? Isn't this that guy?
An Illinois state legislator who is also a Chicago police officer has lost his civil suit against a fellow cop for the second time. State Rep. Edward Acevedo (D-Chicago) may appeal.
Acevedo was suing Officer Dennis Canterbury for more than $50,000 over an incident at a city auto impound lot six years ago. Canterbuy’s lawyer told the jury the state representative was “sauced” and unleashed the F-bomb when he went to the lot to get a friend’s car sprung using his “clout.”
Expert testimony showed Acevedo’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit, but he denied he was drunk. Wouldn’t it have been even more embarrassing if he had been sober?
Source: Steve Warmbir, “Lawmaker loses suit vs. fellow officer, again, Taxpayers Pay, Said he was punched but maybe was ‘sauced,’” Chicago Sun Times, September 26, 2007.
This guy is nothing more than an arrogant POS. Fits right in with the rest of the shitbags working in Springfield to protect our interests!!!

"A new study by Dr. Gregory Morrison finds law enforcement training woefully inadequate."
It's a good thing CPD doesn't offer any trainig that's not state or federally mandated. This way our training is not inadequate.
We still get Streaming Video though! It covers many social and feel-good topics that the average copper is unaware of, not to mention those drunk driving and suicide videos that they play around the holidays.
If you didn't want to kill yourself before seeing one of these gems, you'll want to afterwards!
His brother, who was appointed to a high level state job over qualified veterans by Blago, was finally fired when he was arrested in Miami for threatening the owner of a nightclub. I think he was deputy director of parole and probation officers. Blago violted the law to appoint him and refused to take the job away when the scam was exposed.Eddie is the point man for Mayor Daley in anti gun legislation in Springfield.
He is not on a leave. On the days he is in Springfield, he should not be on the police payroll. But, as you know, things do get creative when it comes to these things.I think he works in 16.
All officers who are on the disability roll should carry their gun at all times. Don't listen to rumors or take some of these written comments as law. The law is on your side peace officer so continue to protect yourself and your family at all costs. Your life is more important!
Yes, he will collect two pensions, one from the city and one from the state. He now collects two paychecks. The clouted can be very creative when it comes to holding elective office and a govt. job and getting paid for both. Just ask Ricky Hendon about that one and his county job. I would love to see their tax returns.
"Acevedo — a state representative since 1997 and a Chicago police officer since 1995..."
