- The safe observation for us to make now — you will hear it from others all week — is that the angry and irresponsible talk that might lead an unhinged person to pick up a gun is common across the political landscape, from right to left.
But that simply is not true.
Overwhelmingly today, the fear-mongering and demonizing flow from the right, aided and abetted by cable TV and talk-radio hosts. They may represent only the irresponsible fringe of conservatism in America, but they are drowning out the thoughtful voices of the vast majority of conservatives.
Gee, and all those protesters saying "We support our troops when they kill their leaders"? The near endless "Bushitler" posters? The stamps showing George Bush with a gun to his head being passed off as "art"? Or the supposed studies about how Conservatives are less intelligent and somehow subhuman for holding their own beliefs?
Well, that's just free speech you know.
If you're a Conservative or a Republican, you just better lie back, shut up and take all the filth the left and the media is piling on you. You're opinions are misguided tripe and your beliefs mean nothing. You must listen to your betters and understand it's all for the children and your own good and you better stop clinging to your god and your guns.
The Sun Times can't go under soon enough to suit us.

They will not let a crisis go to waste. The shooter was a leftist, the victim was pro 2nd & anti illegal imigration and most of the U.S. civil unrest for the last 40 yrs is from the left. Free speech is good only as long as it promotes a leftist agenda. Communisum has been tried and has failed. I fear the U.S. is about to try to reinvent the red wheel as soon as 51% of the voting population is on govt. Aid.

Believe it or not, folks who lean left feel exactly the same way about Fox News, Glen Beck, "Sarah Palin's Alaska", and the emails we get every day from our nutjob relatives and coworkers about Obama being a Muslim/Communist/born in Africa, the UN wanting to come and take everybody's guns away, etc etc. 98% of us just roll our eyes and deal with it. It's been interesting to watch so many right-wingers piss and moan about Socialism because a Wall Street-loving warmonger slightly to the right of Richard Nixon is in the White House. Yet the sun still manages to rise every day and the UN hasn't come knocking at my door yet. Shocking. My point though is not to worry so much about this stuff. The first job of the media, in left-wing or right-wing flavor, is to sell ad space, nothing more.
Don't you think the rhetoric needs to be toned down on both sides? Free speech is an amazing thing, and I served in the USAF for 10 years to help uphold the constitution and the laws of this land, but when I turn on the TV and see the demonizing that goes on...from both sides...I just want to puke.
