Citizen & Dog Save Victim
A man walking his Great Dane, Scooby, rescued a 14-year-old girl who was being attacked in the Logan Square neighborhood Thursday afternoon and then held the attacker at bay until police arrived.
The alleged attacker, Larry E. Smith, 28, of the 3700 block of South Wells, was ordered held on $200,000 bond on Friday.
The attack happened at 4:44 p.m. in the 2800 block of North Whipple Street, according to Shakespeare District police Capt. Marc Buslik.

Hmmm. We certainly hope 014 isn't one of those north side districts that J-Fled is going to strip the police protection from so he can send it to the south side. It already seems that there aren't enough police as it is seeing as how citizens have to hope someone is out walking their dog so they don't get raped or brutalized.
Maybe we ought to have someone look at Concealed Carry again.

i dont know if its due to jfleds movement of the troops but 008 has cars everywhere now... thank god because it was getting pretty rough.. last night on third watch we had almost all beat cars, 8 rapids, 3 ten-four traffic cars, a ten four parks car and a ten four unit detailed to handle all the garbage in ford city... it also means more cars to be out on the west end of 008 where many coppers live... sorry to the rest of the city but for all the coppers living in 008 this is a good thing... not so good for other districts though who are still stripped for cars, hopefully help comes your way soon... be safe boys and girls

The criminals have cars now or they just hop the CTA and raise hell. They travel, there's no telling where these monsters will strike next. The city needs to hire more police rather than strip the already thin "nice" districts of their police.

Well, main furlough season is over so that might account for some of the extra bodies. But how easy is it to get time off in 008? Don't know about you but up north they are more restrictive on granting time.

Thanks to Kup and Alderman Zalewski for keeping the cars on west end of 008!
Speaking of covering the manpower issue.
The ppo's who just hit a year are the ones that are going to the low manpower districts. They are taking 10-12 bodies from already fast districts like 005,008, 010 and 015 and moving them to 007 and 011 and a few lucky ones to 009, where as 024 only is giving up 5 people.

I read a lot of news for my job, it seems that states that have concealed carry, citizens are more than willing to help stop a crime, yet with states like Illinois where there is no CCW, and as recently witnessed in D.C. where a group of teens attacked someone at a elevated train stop out of the blue, no one was willing to step in and help.
Having the right to carry concealed might put a dent in crime in Illinois but as long as we have a democratic stranglehold on Chicago, CCW in Illinois won't happen as it seems the politicians in Illinois are more concerned with keeping the criminals safe from law abiding armed citizens wishing to protect themselves.
You might want to know that it was largely Democrats in Minnesota who pushed through "shall-issue" in place of "may-issue" for carry permits.
Of course, Minnesota Democrats are real Democrats instead of being part of a crime family like in Illinois.

I am proud of the people at 014; I live only a block behind that station and I walk my dog - also a dane - by there frequently. Always a kind word, guys ribbing each other in the parking lot, etc. I'm very happy to live so close to them and I hope you all stay close to us.
