Good Job

  • An Uptown man opened fire on two men in a van, killing one and wounding the other, all while an undercover Chicago police officer investigating drug activity was watching from a nearby vehicle, authorities said today.

Brayant Rogers, 27, was ordered held without bond in the early Tuesday murder of Brian Green, 23. Rogers has a previous conviction for attempted murder, prosecutors said.

Rogers approached a van in the 4500 block of North Magnolia Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and shot both occupants, fatally wounding Brian Green in the chest and injuring an undisclosed man in his left index finger, Assistant State's Attorney [...] said.

The undercover officer called for backup and chased Rogers to his home in the 4400 block of Malden Avenue, located about a block away from the shooting scene...

Wait a minute.... "a previous conviction for attempted murder"? Another upstanding citizen framed by the police and due to spend the rest of his life behind bars - that is until Quinn releases him at some point in the near future.

Nice job Officer.

I guess they aren't as sexy as the police.

Jfled, can you explain why the undercover broke out of being undercover and turned into a policeman upon immeidately realizing a crime was being committed nearby?

That was awesome! Heard the whole thing go down. Great job by the tacticle officer who was alone in a covert vehicle when the homicide litterally occurred right in front of him. The tact guy then chased the shooter into a near by dope house where he was caught running out the rear. The copper kept calm and cool over the radio and the shooter never even knew he was there. Too bad the shooter made it into an apartment before the copper caught up to him, otherwise we probably would have two less gangsters on the earth. I'm not positive, but I do believe the dead gangster was shot in the head not the chest as reported. Great pinch!

Too bad that we're wasting money on city officials security details and such because we would no doubt be able to get more criminals like this off the streets.

Those are the officers we need to start with when taking manpower from low crime areas of the city to high crime areas.

Brayant was shot, along with his "dogg", who is no longer with us, about 100 yards away, last fall. Although the victim in this case had a long rap sheet, he had just dropped his child off at the Stockton School & had stopped at the Subway, on the corner.

Another shooting on the same block happened around 1600 hours Thursday. Guy in a car with his kid and baby mama. Dude was taken to Illinois Masonic in serious condition.

The area is out of control! Rumor has it something big is going on, so 023 is hamstrung right now. Well guys, you better step it up because the home owners are gonna be out for blood!

This was good to listen to on the police radio. The guy in a covert car called it in as it was happening. This mutt is lucky to be alive, a police witnessed murder and he isn't full of holes.

Cars headed there as the covert guy gave the description, direction of flight etc. In a very few minutes the asshole-soon-to-spend-the-rest-of-his-miserable-life-in-prison was in custody, the weapon was recovered and witnesses were being interviewed.

Good work. And of course, the victim, a future rocket scientist himself, was shaking hands with his maker.

One thing, how come victim/honor student was removed there instead of being transported with the van?

Uptown like a lot of neighborhoods in the north side are quickly turning into shit. And that includes God's Country- The 016th district.

Years ago when 016 was turning into shit, many coworkers disagreed and still had their head up their ass. I told my daughter who lives are Lawrence and Sheridan that this neighborhood is not the place to buy a condo but she didn't listen to the old man who doesn't know anything because he is a beat cop without a college education.

That way 1st watch in 019 can have 1 two man car (the wagon) and three 1 man cars. 1 car for each sector. We all know 003 needs a car on every corner for people who hate the police and don't pay taxes!!! I work in Area 2, I should know!!!

Foot guys do absolutely nothing, useless people working special assignments (ex. The creepy Warrant car). Someone else can find the piss bum with a DOPW warrant, now go answer some calls.

Nice work, guys.

Thank you Officer.

I gotta guess that's the type of arrest you go to work hoping to make.

Most of the people in this neighborhood, whether condo owners or subsidized renters appreciate what you're doing.

One group doesn't. The criminals and to those few who make excuses for the criminals.

I live very near where this shooting happened and the police presence has been heavy for many months. I called 911 for a non violent incident a few months back and had 6 cops respond within a few minutes.

Again, thank you.

Oh and all the foot posts on 3rd Watch (at least 10-12 PO's) we could use more foot post too, since they dont answer jobs. Oh and how about 2306W the quality of Life car?
Here's 2306W's job description:
1. Start your tour at 1200 hrs, 1300 hrs ,1500 hrs 0r 1700 hrs which ever works for you for that day

3. Wear CD and hey you dont even need to sign out a radio.
4. No arrests required
5. No direct supervision required
6. Must be former CAPS officers
7. Must be willing to give guided tours of the new station
8. Allowed to take as long a lunch as needed
9. Even though you have a set start time for the day, you may come in whenever you feel like.
10. You can end your tour anytime after 5 hrs just go dwon in 023 to see Commander or CAPS office....

SCC this is off topic but I want to express my feelings:

To the 009 house mouse copper who gave me a ticket just before Christmas for standing on 33rd Morgan. You are a gutless piece of garbage. You sit in your car and send me a ticket by mail but you don't have the courage to hand me a ticket in person. You are a Weiss trained coward. Yes I guess I was wrong sitting there waiting for the place to make room to repair my tire and if you had the courage to hand me the ticket in person I would be pissed but I would respect you. But to get a ticket in the mail! That is cowardly. Don't say I pulled away either because my car was pulled into the garage and I was there for 30 minutes after waiting in the street.

If you had half a brain you would have seen the donut spart tire on the front and knew I was in line to get a flat tire fixed. But no, you drive by and don't say anything. Yes I saw you but you didn't say anything to me. Why? You COWARD! You are what gives the real police a bad name. You are fortunate that you are employed by a city that has a large number of real police officers so that you have someone to protect you. You disgust me!

To all the real police, thank you for keeping us safe.

When you are gone, hopefully CPD will get a REAL LEADER and start rocking like they did before you arrived. Your departure will be celebrated for many years to come. The once proud CPD will hang their heads high again and do what we are trained to do with ferver. We run towards gunfire not away from it....... WE NEVER SAY ....... GOTTA RUN!!!!!!

Can you imagine if this Officer said GOTTA RUN???? You would Cozzi him too. How is that CR# going JFLED still working on getting it buried??? You ran from gunfire not towards it. You were out of uniform with no vest on, and then slunk back into your car like an amphibian. Kermit the Frog and the Geico Gecko hang their heads in shame now. But the metrosexual cavemen LOVE YOU and M3.

Gorgeous rehabbed vintage and new housing stock, nice restaurants, close to public transportation, nearby shopping (new target). BUT scattered site housing, and a criminal element that never quite left and is rebounding and getting brazenly emboldened. Many uptowners are starting to see the light about things. Should be a requirement for every jagbag liberal who supports govt subsidized entitlements to live a few months here.
