Thanks for Nothing Ryan

  • For the first time since 2007, former Gov. George Ryan’s voice can be heard from beyond prison walls, after the city released an audio interview of the former governor late Monday.

The unprecedented March 2010 deposition, given from a Terre Haute, Ind. federal prison, captures a frustrated, forgetful, but often impassioned Ryan as he fields questions about one of the inmates he pardoned while in office.

  • “I mean, I pardoned guys that I knew were guilty or at least thought they were, but I didn’t want any innocent people killed,” Ryan says at one point. “But I don’t have to tell you why I did it, what I thought about it any more than I have to tell you why I thought why he should have it or shouldn’t have it. I just used my judgment like I did on a lot of things I did in the time I spent in government. That’s called leadership.”
Leadership? No it isn't. It's a callous disregard for the victims and it makes everything he said in the past about it being a careful, deliberate process nothing but a bald faced lie. This was a cynical attempt to pollute the jury pool because he knew an investigation was ongoing and he might be facing charges. By his blanket pardons and commutations (and hopes for Nobel Prize consideration), he re-victimized thousands of people while betting that even a single vote might hand a federal jury.

Rot in hell George. Dying behind bars would be too good for you.

The wise Illinois politician always errs on the side of caution; He never knows who his cellmate will be when he goes down!

You sir are a complete disgrace to humankind, to allow the filth to walk this earth while their innocent victims did not have that luxury.

May you rot in hell for using this ploy to try to save your own ass.

How's Lura Lynn Ryan doing? I heard months ago that she was in "very grave condition" and had only a few days to live. Must have been a miracle recovery. That George Ryan, so many miracles for that man. And what nerve, to testify that he knowingly pardoned guilty men. No wonder they were grinning ear to ear when they were released.

He set a date for all those on death row to file to have their death sentences commuted to life in prison. Most filed, some did not. George Ryan later decided unilaterally to commute all the death sentences, not just those who filed an appeal. Chris Davis, the killer of Officer Gregory Young was one of those who did not but yet was commuted. George, the reason he did not file for commutation was because he knew he killed a good man in cold blood whose family and friends stood by him. You were wrong for doing that, way wrong. Chris, if I had the ability to sentence you to death, I would...

I know a Woman who was a juror at his trial, (just moved from CA so didn't know anything about him) and after it was all over she got a call from a Mother who's 2 kids were murdered in a home invasion. No doubt the guy was guilty as the cops caught him coming out of the house covered in their blood; let off Death Row by Ryan.

If you truly didn't "want any innocent people killed” why did you free savage animals from their cage so they can prey on the populace?

Yes, he exercised " Leadership", he used his judgement as an elected official. Not only in freeing convicted guilty people, but in quashing investigations into his own misconduct and corruption, but in deciding in the first place to become corrupt. Somehow, I do not believe this attitude started when he was Secretary of State. I would believe that he was like this most of his professional life, even when he was a pharmacist. Even today, he is arrogant and does not believe he did anything improper. When he gets out of the slammer, if he gets out of the slammer, you can expect press conferences to blast the system and declare his innocence. And, standing next to him with be " Big Bill Thompson" the guy who sat on the board of directors of the Sun times and drove it into bankruptcy as well as setting up the Illinois Combine to foster their back room deals. Don't forget, the democrats supported Ryan during his run for governor because Ryan was a deal maker.

Is it time to take up arms yet?

If George Ryan testified in the Illinois Congress regarding this death penalty issue... then it is possible that he is guilty of PERJURY just like Burge! What will you do? Any follow up? Where are the calls for charges in response to this OUTRAGE! Just what I thought. I guess it's easier to lead the broadcast with a cop parking in a tow zone.

How did this get within the purview of the City of Chicago? Is it someone who was released who's now suing the City for false arrest, something like that? I must have missed it somewhere.

Yes, it's preferable that the U.N. should let tens of thousands of people be mowed down in the streets of Libya, their only crime being that they were unfortunate enough to be born in Libya instead of a democratic country.

I saw on Al Jazeera TV tonight Libyan people dancing in the streets of Benghazi, which remains controlled by the rebels. Men, women, holding up various simple homemade signs, "THANK YOU USA," "THANK YOU ALLIES."

Khadafi did a serious thrust with armor up the coast road from Tripoli towards Benghazi, and I believe that it was the French Air Force that put a stop to that.

Remember what our air did to the Iraqi retreat from Kuwait? Damnedest miles-long traffic jam you ever saw, except everything all blackened and full of holes with skeletons sitting at the wheel.

Like that.

There was some kind of court decision regarding this that I have to look into; it hinged around the problem of ordering people to buy health insurance. The key words in the decision were that "the government cannot regulate inaction."

Boy, does that ever have some fascinating, broad-reaching implications as a legal precedent...

Give up dude Obama is a failure. He wont even let the border guards protect themselves let alone the country. More people have been killed around the southern border then in Libya and he wont do jack because it might offend a future goverment teet sucking voter. Whats he doing about Darfur, zilch sero notta. Truth is this action to protect the Libyan rebels is not in our best intrest they are our enemies (Al Quaida). We should let them slaughter each other like GD's and BD's in the ghetto. Then go after the winner.

Ryan was a fat, older Daley--there was nothing good about him.
There is little difference between Dem's and GOP in IL and the difference is lessening in the Fed Gov't.
They have too much in common-stealing from us.

Anonymous Buslik is a goof, HOWEVER said...

The FOP wants all P.O.s on the Pension Board so they can rubber stamp duty disability pensions.

The FOP provides the P.O. with an attorney (Tom Pleines) who represents the patrolmen.
The sergeants and lieutenant representatives refused to approve many of these duty disability cases and made them plain disability (only 60% instead of 75%)

This in turn has caused many “pissing matches” between sides.

Buslik does not want to come out and say this because he knows he will open up a can of worms.
