Aldercreatures - Pay Attention

  • Kane County soon will have two fewer County Board districts and members.

The board voted 21-4 Tuesday to reduce its size — from 26 to 24 — beginning with the 2012 elections.

  • Board Chairman Karen McConnaughay has advocated for fewer board members, saying the county may need to reduce to 18 board members after the 2030 census to satisfy a state law that limits counties with more than 800,000 residents to 18 board members.

Waiting and reducing eight members all at once would be more difficult than paring away a few at a time.

Since it would be almost impossible to convince Chicago aldercreatures to vote themselves out of jobs, there ought to be some mechanism to get this on the ballot. Oh wait....been there, done that. People aren't quite pissed off enough. Yet.

How about bringing back the mobs of villagers to each alderman's office with pitch forks and torches?

Well, that is a good idea. The number of alderman tied to the city population every 10 year census. But,you would need the alderman themselves to pass this sordinance,or maybe a state law? What is really needed is the end to homerule in this state.

Nothing in Rahm's transition report about axing 1/2 of these position.

No "Change" needed in Chicago, I guess.

Newscasters seen in bed with Daley seek subtraction from furniture ad

From the comments section:

"Journalistic Integrity? not in chicago"

"Why is everyone praising Daley? He put the city in bankruptcy and corruption and clout were the highlights of his administration."

"So they'll smile, kneel down and kiss the mayor's wingtips at a fancy party; but when the curtain is drawn back and the public sees, they shriek. Why? Because the millions of people in the Chicago news market see them for what they are: compromised and corrupt. (Although really, every discerning news viewer has known for years that Bill Kurtis is in the tank for Daley and any number of pols---and this past election he and Jay Levine were so obviously slanting their coverage in favor of Rahm Emanuel.)
Bottom line is that the press in Chicago is every bit as corrupt as the pols they cover."

Newscasters want out of furniture ad with Daley

From the comments section:

"Really? You mean news organizations are paying respects to a man that controlled them for years? News outlets being shown in bed with the mayor? Shocker."

"Only a moron would not be able to see how the media is in mayor Daley's pocket. And now these media icons are concerned for their image. I hate to tell them that their image was destroyed LONG ago. I just wonder how long it is going to take for the media to fall into Emmanuel's pocket. I give it a week."

"Too little too late. People are just now figuring this out? The guy is a crook."

Aldermen serve as a conduit for processing political favors in the Shitcago Machine. They also serve as insulation for the 5th floor at Shittyhall. Look at all the alderthieves who have been incarcerated over the years. No mayors have been incarcerated ! Shortshanks, aka: richard m. daley deserves to be the 1st to don a prison jump suit.
Remove the "insulation" and the blame/guilt falls where it should, the mayo's office/mayor.

Fat chance our 50 clowns would EVER show that kind of integrity or fiscal responsibility. They'll just blame the out-of-control public pensions.

It's ALL about THEM.

Heard Prof. Paul Green on WGN Radio say that to change the amount of Aldermen in Chicago it would require a vote to change the law down in Springfield.
Think JellyQuinn will allow it, try running it past Cullerton before you go to Madigan.

We just got rid of a Daley appointed Alderman John Rice in the 36th Ward in a run-off election.

He's the on who said at a public forum, "We can't hire more police because we just gave them a 10% raise!" He didn't realize how many cops were in the audience, and the fact that the rest of the people knew the truth because we talk to our neighbors. The same was true when he boasted he helped Mayor Daley, "pass the toughest gun control law in the country!".

We didn't elect the Police Officer running against him; but we got the Fire Fighter Nicholas Sposato who seems to be a decent guy. This is a real people victory.

Now who do you think is going to get targeted in any reduction?

The independent who defeated the machine candidate or will Rahm throw this ward to the "revruns". Do you think it will be easier to elect an anti-machine candidate if there were less Aldermen?

Rahm knows it will be easier to control 25 than 50, and easier to control the people.

I just wonder what Rice has lined up post-election. Maybe he will go back to driving for some other Alderman.

OT - Jay Mariotti thinks he's still in Crook Cty

Former ESPN sports personality and Chicago Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti has been charged with three felonies -– stalking, domestic violence and assault -– after he confronted his ex-girlfriend the same day a court ordered him to stay away from her, prosecutors said.

He pleaded not guilty Wednesday to the charges: stalking, corporal injury on a spouse or domestic partner, and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. He was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of disobeying a court order. If convicted, he faces up to FIVE YEARS in state prison. His next court date is June 1 before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz.

In addition to confronting his ex-girlfriend at a restaurant Sept. 30 -- the day he pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor domestic violence -- prosecutors said he argued with his former girlfriend again outside a Venice restaurant April 15. He allegedly pulled a chunk of her hair out and grabbed her cellphone, while shouting at her, prosecutors said.

If you didn't vote, you have no right to complain.

VOTE, and get everyone you can to vote. The 36th Ward is a case for that point.

If they reduce the City Council to 25, the first one I'd like to nominate for extinction is John Arena (D-SEIU-45th ward). He and Marina Pat's Puppet can ride off into the sunset together.

I beg to differ! I'm pissed off enough. Signed the last petition for a referendum to reduce the number of Aldercreatures. Someone ought to float another one and see how far it goes. We keep doing this and at some point we might get our wish: Reduce Wards/Aldercreatures from 50 down to 25, which roughly mirror out 25 police Districts. Can anyone say gerrymander? :-)

Was out working in 014 today...

Heard a Sgt praise Daley as the Political Equivalent of Michael Jordan.

I turned and laughed at the Sgt..

And quipped:

"more like the Pete Rose of Politics."

Should have seen the look on that Sgt's face.
