Crime Drops Again?

Twenty-eight straight months? Who the hell is counting this stuff - CPS graduates?
  • Overall crime in Chicago dropped for the 28th consecutive month in April, Chicago police said today. Crime dropped 7.2 percent when compared with last April.

Homicides fell by 14.2 percent compared to April 2010, with 17 fewer killings, police said citing preliminary numbers. Nearly half of the 25 police districts throughout the city showed a decrease in homicide numbers, with decreases in the double or triple digits, police said in a statement.

While property crime decreased by 6.1 percent compared to a year ago -- with thefts dropping by 12.9 percent and burglary dropping by 4.7 percent -- motor vehicle thefts continued to soar with thefts increasing by 20.1 percent, police said. Arsons also increased by 7.7 percent, police said.

The bad news is that if crime drops for the next two months, Chicago is going to end up owing crime. So at some point, Governor Quinn is going to have to release another 1,800 inmates in order to maintain crime numbers in the not-to-distant future.

Seriously though, does anyone actually believe this crap?

Nope, don't believe it. But, I bet JPWeis is staying up late at night, trying to figure out a way to make it all because of him.

So does that mean Terry Hillard gets credit for the drop in crime?? Or is the drop due to the work police are doing, maybe we don't need a Supt.

I'm guessing that the reason that car thefts are shown as being up is that those are the only crimes that can't be hidden with insurance and all.

The rest is complete bullshit and anyone with half a brain knows that crime isn't going down, it's being reclassified by bean counters.

Does anyone not think there's more shooting going on now?

Crime is down 7.2% -- thefts are down 12.9% -- property crime is down 6.1% and auto thefts are up 20% Therefore auto thefts are not a crime nor a theft or are auto's property so don't worry about it!

Why don't we call the thefts and the burglaries something like 'unauthorized or undocumented borrowing' like we call illegal immigrants undocumented aliens.

Maybe it's time for a breather, then.

Everyone that's dumb enough to still be doing any kind of proactive police work needs to take a sabbatical for a few periods. Seems we're being too effective. Time for a well-deserved break is how I interpret these drops in crime.

If not, a nice hefty raise commensurate with the reduction percentages is in order, no? I mean monetary compensation is a great reward and motivator, right?

Don't be fooled by these numbers, oh Sheeple of the general populace. The operative word that's conspicuously omitted from this compilation of lies is "REPORTED". As in "Reported Crime".

The anemic percentage of crimes that actually see an RD# (documented) as compared to the number of crimes perpetrated is eclipsed only by the atrocious graduation rate of CPS students.

It also needs to be mentioned that a good amount of reported crimes are downgraded once those reports are subjected to the wizardry applied by the review/case management magicians. After all, we can't have the ugly truth reaching the brain dead masses and upsetting their routine and oblivious existences. We especially don't want to scare away the tourism dollars, now do we?

Smoke and mirrors. Sleight of hand. Shell game. Call it whatever you want. Those of us that know better simply call it "bullshit".

From the perspective of a juvy probation officer.
I just received a new case for sentencing of a juvenile who had 16 cases no filed for court before he was finally convicted on something . 25 arrests by age 15 .Routinely , cases we are assigned have a history of 20 or more arrests before they finally get before a judge in court.Even once cases get into court, many are dropped or pled down to something ridiculous . Am always curious how someone can be beaten , robbed , left in the street , victim has to go to emergency room and the minor is only convicted of a theft from person.Or you can break into someones home and are convicted of criminal trespass.Juveniles know the system is a joke , and the odds are on their side, they can commit multiple crimes with little chance of punshment .The detention center is half full, yet we're constantly told to not have kids held and to look for alternatives and interventions,

There are several reasons:
1. We have less people, lots of the garbage was sent to the burbs.
2. Try and report a crime, no cars available, long lines at the station, a 311 system that puts you into an endless loop, and a computer system that just don't work.
Most folks just give up. yes, J fled did a wonderful job of screwing things up.

If crime is now so low why is everyone looking over their shoulder when they throw out their garbage or walk the dog? Crime stats have always been a joke. Anyone who has ever worked a beat car knows how crime just disappears at the will of the district bosses.

5/08/2011 09:13:00 PM

Seriously?

You may have hit on the perfect way to reduce the murder stats. Everybody should just call 911 and say 'don't send the police, he died of natural causes'. And, voila, no more murders in Chicago.

Unreal.

They are using the month of April for crime statistics. Did it not rain something like 21 total days this April? Do you think that might have something to do with it? Just wait, everything will be status quo by the end of May. Crime will soar this summer be ready ans always alert even when walking around in your own neighborhoods.

Absolutely! The reason that auto theft is always up is because a car is either stolen or it isn't. There is no way to make an auto theft a misdemeanor.

Really, who makes this shit up?

28 consecutive months?!?!?!? Mathematically speaking this is next to impossible.

I just did some simple calculations over the life of 28 months and even at simple 2% decreases there should be next to no crime in the city based on these numbers!!!

This is unfucking believable. And the people continue to believe this crap fed to them by the media.

We say it here on the blog, but the citizenry has to stop being blind and accepting the reports of the media as Gospel!

And the media should look more closely at the case reports and see how they get twisted or changed.

Poet? Rev. Wright Defender and Promoter of Cop Killing Invited to White House

According to the Associated Press, Obama "will celebrate American poetry and prose with a gathering of poets, musicians and artists at the White House next Wednesday night." One of the poets who will attend is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. who goes by the name “Common.”

It is likely Obama met Common at the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ were both men were members...

In fact, Common defended his minister.

"(Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Johnson, June 12, 1823, The Complete Jefferson, p. 322)

"The Constitution shall never be construed....to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms"

(Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 86-87)

"No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."

(Thomas Jefferson, Proposal Virginia Constitution, 1 T. Jefferson Papers, 334,[C.J.Boyd, Ed., 1950])

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."

(James Madison, The Federalist Papers #46 at 243-244)

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."

(Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-8)

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence ... From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that is good"

(George Washington)

Now please, stop talking about what the founding fathers "would have wanted" when they went to painstaking detail to make sure no one could possibly misunderstand them when they told you exactly what they wanted.
