West Side Goes Up
We're betting this isn't the first time the words "west side" and "goes up" have appeared in the same sentence:
- An ongoing gang conflict that may have resulted in the deaths of five people on the West Side since noon Friday, according to a police source. At least ten other people were wounded during unrelated shootings in other areas of the city Friday night into early Saturday.
A police source said late Saturday morning that a gang conflict that started about two weeks ago at Lexington Streets and Pulaski Road is to blame for the five slayings. Details were not immediatley available about the reported conflict.
Between the 010 and 011 Districts, they accounted for five slayings in a little under fourteen hours. Not a bad start to a cool weekend.

hmmmm, now im curious. Where was msf mostly deployed when they existed.. oh yeah, 011, 015, 010 and 025... now ive never been in msf, tru or any citywide unit but maybe dude knows that the extra coppers arent out there... why? because they are out there cutting people paper and helping out(which we do appreciate) but some sort of citywide unit needs to be in place. even 140 coppers would be good enough. put the entire unit in 011 and 015 and it will quell the violence. It use to work when sos was around. I remember when I worked in 011 and sos would come in after it went up and after a weekend of them around it went silent... Its funny how quiet it would be by sunday night after sos did there thing... not touting msf or tru but I do think its related to disbanding the units. Like them or not they did deep dude under raps a little bit when they were around.

Here's what I'm scratching my head about...WBBM Radio 780 AM reported this morning that a nude bike ride took place yesterday that traveled thru 001; 018; and 023 in the middle of the morning; there were 500 of the psychos out there. It was reported that "it was all in good fun" and no arrests were made.
Jesus, I'm old...and, thankfully, retired. What the Christ has happened to the Chicago PD? No arrests for this?

Before SOS, the 'Flying Squad' did the same thing and SOG before them, but that was a different time, a different society and a different breed of cop. Today's society ACCEPTS the fact that they will be victimized for their money or iPhone or iPod. They would rather willingly submit to the plundering of their homesteads and families than let the police rule the streets and keep the beast in line.
Heaven forbid the savages should catch a slap or a crack or a thump should they step outside of society's rules... Today, if you try to police through fear or intimidation, that we all know works better with the 'underworld dregs of society', there better not be a video camera, cell phone or witness around, or you'll get indicted.

wow where is the extra man power...we were doing better when we had a citywide unit.. its show the bosses are just puppets and worry about collecting a check.. msf had a proactive boss and did his job great also took care of his guys. i guess they dont want proactive police officer only after the fact report writer..

Other then boss' of field units take these exempts cars.
Maintain a few cars at HQ that boss' can use if they need to leave the building for business, not lunch.

011 just got almost 50 from msf/tru. They are out there, but cutting paper? I doubt it. 4 hours on a coded domestic. They are too busy complaining about handling paper jobs and telling their war stories of being "elite". Why didn't they prevent the 4 homicides in 011?

In my humble opinion, msf and tru needed to be downsized a bit. However, I think eliminating them is a mistake. When they were in the disrticts (before being disbanded) they should have been available for radio calls if the district was in a backlog. If not, by all means run around and lock people up. I'm just sayin.
