Cop Shoots, Kills Assailant

  • A man was fatally shot by police, and two officers were injured, during a confrontation following a domestic disturbance in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side this afternoon, police and a union spokesman said.

About 1:40 p.m. police were called to the 300 block of North Latrobe Avenue for a domestic disturbance involving a knife, and when officers tried to interview the suspect he started fighting, repeatedly striking one of the officers in the face, according to a preliminary statement from Police News Affairs.
The offender wasn't just striking the officer in the face:
  • On arrival, the officers confronted the man, Camden said. At some point, the sergeant put a handcuff on the man’s wrist, Camden said. The man then at first became belligerent, then became violent, Camden said.

The female officer took out pepper spray, and tried to disable the man, unsuccessfully, Camden said. The man attacked the sergeant, and at some point was able to get on top of the sergeant, beating him about the head and shoulders, Camden said.

The sergeant said to the officer, “shoot him, shoot him.” But the officer was reluctant to fire because she was afraid of shooting the sergeant, Camden said.

Soon after, the sergeant was able to get his gun out and fired at the attacker, fatally wounding him, Camden said.
Both officers were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.

I know exactly what is going to happen next and so does every other officer with an IQ of over 75. Westside "ministers"(very few of whom are graduates of real seminaries) are going to meet with the police exempts and aldermen to discuss "trigger-happy polices." Never in the conversation will the cultural crisis of the black community that emerged from the Johnson era great society polices be discussed. Rampant narcotics sales, sexual deviance and incest, extreme violence within and between families will all be disregarded and the singular focus with be "trigger happy police." Police exempts, many of whom owe their careers to ministers and aldermen, will never in the course of these meetings even raise the issue of the increase of batteries to police officers or the number of cops who have been shot or killed in the past two years. Multi-generational patterns of imprisonment and gang membership within black families on the westside will be ignored in these conversations and the St Xavier or Chicago State educated exempts will placate the ministers with pledges of improved training for police in the use of force and "cultural" skills training as to how to deal with "the community." Absent from these conversations will be any mention of the fact that blacks seem to be almost exclusively the only "community" with a serial propensity toward killing the police. Never will the exempts raise the logical question of why Irish, Mexican, Polish, Swedish, Chinese, Korean, Czech, Serbian, Croation, Jewish, Japanese, Palestinian, Brazilian, German, Russian, Greek, Peruvian, Nigerian, or Norwegian residents of Chicago do not seem to get killed by the police and why Black Americans seem uniquely have the distinction of elevating encounters with the police to the level where the use of lethal force in self defense is required of officers. Church sermons by Jaguar driving ministers with meaty IR numbers will focus in on the high numbers of white and hispanic officers in 15, 11, and 25 policing "our community" and how these officers are racis' and "insensitive" to the "needs" of the community. Seldom if ever will these same ministers mention to their congregants the need to finish school, acquire job skills, maintain a conventional male headed nuclear family, or not use violence as a means of settling disputes among themselves or with the police. Nor will they discuss the very small number of black men who can actually become police officers due to the high numbers of black applicants with criminal histories and cannabis positive hair and urine tests. The high numbers of white and hispanic cops on the westside will be attributed, as is every other perceived problem in the black community, to "racism." No mention of the criminal histories of those recently shot by the police on the westside will ever be uttered in these churches. To acknowledge that Black people actually have some role to play in their fates would be more sacrilegious than if the ministers led prayers praising satan.

I'm born, raised, and currently working on the westside. Every word you typed is true. Which is why, as much as I enjoyed being a kid and growing up there, I moved the fuck off of the westside as soon as I could. I didn't want my children to grow up in that enviroment. Sadly, it appears that my current neighborhood (022) is all but headed in that direction. I should have followed my first instinct and moved north.

Woodstars Festival in Maywood "quiet and sparse"

By BILL DWYER

August 1, 2011 7:44PM

"Woodstars Festival website showed parking for 2,309 cars. Reserved pavilion and lawn seating for 5,300 people for each of five scheduled concerts Friday through Sunday, at $20 to $65 per ticket."

“There were times when there were less than 100 people there,” said one officer who spent the weekend in the area, and who asked not to be named. “Sunday evening at (the finale concert) there were maybe a thousand people in the whole place,” he said, repeating “maybe.”

“The Porta-Potties probably cost them more to rent than they sold in tickets,” he added.

"The grounds were quiet on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., with no one on stage, despite a scheduled performance. On Thursday, Friday and Sunday mid-afternoons, there were no more than 30 or 40 people in the carnival area."

http://riverforest.suntimes.com/news/6831079-417/woodstars-festival-quiet-and-sparse.html

I think "fell flat on its face" would about cover it...

"Preliminary estimates from River Forest officials put the cost for additional public safety personnel at $20,000," not to mention the many Cook County Sheriff's personel who were asked to work days off at an estimated cost of $100,000 to $150,000.

No more gangbangers on the corners....its my corner...not yours. I pay my taxes...you have never. A. I wasn't there --

-- but if the sarge was down on his back and the assailant was straddling him flailing away, one option may have been to sit down and take a head shot on the assailant at an upward angle, away from the sarge.

There is a technique taught similar to this for protection of dignitaries, called "crowd shooting." Sit down and shoot upwards to minimize chances of hitting close-packed innocents.

As close-range as it gets, down and dirty, nothing pretty about a gunfight, nasty f__ing sordid bloody mess.

Coppers go home safe, you win.

Glad it worked out OK.

When a violent bastard goes this far we have every right to shoot him. If this animal was able to get a hold of one of the officers weapons he would have shot all three. Better him than us. I do believe the reason we are seeing so much aggression against the police is because of the bogus reverands spewing their hate at the authority of the police to keep order. The media doesn't help with their bogus one sided stories that make us look like the enemy. If you want to attack cops then be prepared to meet your maker.

In a report posted on the website " Jews For The Preservation of Firearm Ownership ", the following ;
" In a story almost without precedent, CBS identified Chicago's high murder rate as almost totally gang related and
geographically isolated " .
..with surprising candor, CBS announced that " up to 60% of shootings are gang related and that more than 90% of the offenders have criminal histories and up to 80% of the victims have criminal histories. "
For the record, " gang related and geographically isolated "
But we know that, don't we?
The only clueless one's, or not willing to admit it, are Rahm, McPuppet, and Chicago's Lame Stream Media, oh yes, and of course 'da rev'runs.

BIG surprise that Channel 5 mentioned NOTHING at 10 about the subject being armed with a knife, resisting arrest (cuffed), or beating the sergeant in the head.

Nope. Pretty much just "Police respond to a domestic disturbance, get into a 'scuffle' with the offender, and shoot and kill him."

Oh, and to finish off the "story," they tossed in that neither officer received life-threatening injuries.

Just a clear inference that the trigger-happy police shot an unarmed man who didn't even hurt 'em all that bad.

I think that a lot of these shootings are happening due to the loss in manpower. In this situation there were only 2 cops on a domestic. Years back there would be 4-6 cops on the same call and the animals would show respect when the additional cops were on the scene. Today we are stretched so thinly that we're lucky to get the bare minimum on calls. When superiority of manpower fails; superiority of firepower has to take over.

Hey asshole, you obviously are not one of us. We don't monday morning quarterback an officer's actions here. Things don't always conform to the scenarios and tactics you learn from your Guns and Ammo magazine. Work in our city for a minute and you would know that.

09:22 PM said that 022 is getting as bad as the west side. I moved here years ago from north austin, and it seems pretty good still, to me. The 19th ward does a great job of providing city services, and the officers in 022 do a good job of keeping the crap off of our streets. I think Kuemmeth is doing a decent job as commander.

Retired from 015

Good job CPD. I hope all involved can heal up quickly and get back out there to fight the good fight. Best Wishes.

Good job bob. Glad you will be around to fight again. Not so luck is The Screaming Skull who was called down to the Supes office today and told his services are Jo longer needed. He resigned today.

Holy Shit! Are you serious? That would be one pain in my ass removed. Next!

If a Deputy Superintendent is a pain your ass, you must REALLY be a FU*& up.

022 is nowhere near as bad 015. What I meant was though it's still an overall good district to live in, 022 isn't quite as nice as it was when I first moved here, 17 years ago. And we all know the tearing down of the Robert Taylor, Stateway Gardens and other CHA projects contributed greatly to the change. Still, I'm mindful of how much worse it could be. My partners lives in 004. Talk about a district that took a direct hit from the influx of project rats. 004 before the project tear down and after, are two totally different ditricts.

He was ready to go anyway. The last Deputy Superintendent to leave wasn't filled. Maybe we are cutting some command staff and restructuring.

West side is fine. Everything east of Vincennces is up for grabs. The north end is a zoo also. 022 don't have half the cops it needs. The Commander is decent and the people in 022 work their asses off.

The Sergeant made the right call. He was in fear of his life. When someone is on top of you and trying to beat you unconcious, there is a good chance they will try to get your weapon or will definately get it. Then the savage will use it on the Sgt. or the other PO present. Made a great call. Even though the offender was using hands, it would have escalated very quick if he wasn't stopped. Speedy recovery to both the Sgt and PO. Glad to see you are going home to the family. The dog ass had a long background of violence.

Hell with the pepper spray and taser. Bring back the maglites. Saved many coppers lives years ago. Just have to remember to hit them in the head only when lethal force is allowed. But you hit them in the arm or leg, they are not going to use that part of the body for awhile. Immediate put down is nail them in the groin with it. Instant end of fight. But then again many times shooting them is the only choice.

A long time ago, I worked in the retail industry. I remember and could hardly forget a westside revrund and his woman bought 10,000 worth of mechandise and widdled the price down to 5,000 after a very ardous and lengthy time with the two.

Finally, just to get rid of them, not only did they get the deal but they also demanded free stuff as well.

When all was said and done....what did they do but whip out their church tax exempt letter for their own personel use and then charged it to the church!!!

Unbelievable!!!

Oh and they were dressed to nines and driving a very ghetto fabulous cadillac!!
