EEK! White Powder!
Suspicious white powder that brought police and firefighters to the Daley Center turned out to be drywall dust, officials say.
The powder turned out to be drywall dust, Courtney Greve, a spokeswoman for the county clerk, said in an email.
The office was "quarantined" while a hazardous materials crew investigated, Greve said.
The situation was declared under control by about 10:35 a.m., Greve said.
Thank goodness it wasn't like that white powder they found at HQ a few years back next to the torn bag that said "-unkin -onuts" on it. That one was good for a chuckle or two.

The drywall dust came from something so rare around City Hall as to be unrecognizable: honest hard work.
None of the alderman or their toadies had ever seen good honest work and were flummoxed at what drywall dust was or how it came to be at City Hall.
On another note, Ald Ed Burke rushed off to court and obtained a 25 year extension signed by a judge on his City paid bodyguard detail.
"See, Ed Burke said," "I could have been in danger had that powder been that deadly poison Sodium Burke-a-cyde."
The papers were immediately served on Police Supt. McCarthy who said, "jeez, it looks legit I guess."
Burke then got a new City car with anti-news media radar.

Wha? So we was scared shitless at HQ. Wuz the big deal? You would have been, too. You never heard of Unkin Crueller Onut, the famous and extremely sadistic terrorist!? We was so scared that J-FLED ran out the building! But there is a silver lining. That incident really tightened up security measures at HQ. You can no longer bring powdered sugar into HQ or you will be severely disciplined!
