More Mope-rah Material

  • A man who was allegedly pistol-whipping his wife was shot in the head during an exchange of gunfire with police early Sunday in Maywood.

At 1:27 a.m., Maywood police officers responded to a call from a woman who reported that she had been pistol-whipped by her husband in their home in the 2000 block of South 11th Avenue, according to police.

Officers began trying to negotiate with the suspect. Once inside the home, the 40-year-old man allegedly fired a shot at police, who returned fire, police said.

β€œAn officer was struck in the [bullet-resistant] vest and police returned fire,’’ said Police Chief Tim Curry.

More trigger-happy police no doubt - the epidemic has migrated to the suburbs. We can't believe that an officer getting shot (luckily in the vest) would necessitate return fire to defend himself and a woman being beaten with a gun. Can't wait for Mope-rah's column on this one.

Good job and wishing a speedy recovery to our suburban friends.

Maybe we can get some of those robots from Japan that look like real people to go in first and size up the situation. Let the savage use all his ammo on the robot then go in and subdue him without using too much force. Buy him a McDonald Happy Meal and get him some help. It is the least we could do.

"'An officer was struck in the [bullet-resistant] vest and police returned fire,' said Police Chief Tim Curry."

See, it isn't body armor on the outside that's killing cops, it's guys like this that think nothing of discussing our defensive systems.

Another worthless piece of crap off the streets for good. Why do people feel they have the right to physically harm others but when the police come & save another's life the HERO is criticized for doing the right thing!!

Just listen to some of the " gangsta rap " ( if you have strong stomach ) and learn that pistol whipping " yo' bitch " is proper punishment when she " disrespects " you.
This and other assorted felonies keep dat' bitch in her place.
Well, in some communities.

this is unreleated to thsi post but i dont know where else to put it.

i know their are officers in 018 who read this. please im begging you to do something more about these fucking cab drivers. yet again they hit two kids on the mag mile. multiple times taking a cab i have reach over the 50 mph mark on north michigan ave. i understand how busy it is in 18. and i know theres constant back log but something needs to be done. these fucking cockroaches are out of control. help the city get some extra cash by writing this fuck bags some tickets. and also help save a few lives.

next time a cab driver drives like that with me in the cab you can bet your ass im not paying so get ready for a bullshit "theft of services" call. ill be sure to record it to be extra safe so you believe me. and yes in my eyes going 30 plus over the speed limit in one of the most crowded areas of the city is a "fear for my safety and well being."

if your a democrat spare me your "they need to make a living too" speach and how they are "honor students back in nigeria and india."

and an mope-rah you are a dumbass. literally, who really needs to get your life in order. i really dont understand how pathetic you are. i can only pray KARMA comes around ...........

To the unpublished:

Why don't you clue us in? What incident are you talking about? Because unlike yourself, we aren't all-seeing, all-knowing, all-self-righteous and things slip under the radar. So instead of ascribing non-existent sinister motives to something, point it out and stop being an asshat.

Yes, the community is very concerned about respect. Evidence of respect can be witnessed all around.

Most domestic calls are about mama's 12 year old "being very disrespectful" and the police need to straighten him out or take him somewhere.

When I'm in the lockup they are all about respect. You have to address them properly, answer every question promptly and never use profanity. I guess some forget their manners when they spit on me, try to sucker punch me, and call me every racist name they can think to call a Caucasian American... but that's ok, they just need a hug.

When I'm on the street, there is no better place to see how the community respects themselves and each other... just look at how clean they keep their streets and homes. I'm not sure how children are getting shot and drugs are being sold, or why a 7 year old would tell me to suck his dick and fuck the police, but they do it in the most respectful way.

It doesn't surprise me how much respect is commanded when they show so much respect to themselves.

Obama!

make sure vests are made of Woven-Kevlar/Aramid and not Spectra,Flex anything,Gold anything.

The polyethelene laminates do not do well with contact or multiple hits, they melt. Its plastic sheet you know, not a woven cloth like kevlar.
Woven aramids tend to last a long time.Older vests well past the 5 year rule, have met or exceeded their ballistic rating.
