State Police Hiring

  • The Illinois State Police are ready for a new class of cadets.

A class of 74 new recruits starts Aug. 21 and will undergo 25 weeks of training at the agency's training academy in Springfield.

If they make it, they'll graduate in February and then become probationary troopers in districts statewide.

Plus, they'll probably get a springtime tour of the Chicago area during probation. Congratulations!

That 74 number does not even cover their retirements. It's the same b.s. that Rahm hands out with that 200 new officer's for 2012!

Both the State and the City are woefully undermanned!

Check out how many free pens Gov. Quinn hands out each week when he sign's some new law. He could put Office Max, Office Depot and Staples out of the pen business!

A class of 74 when retirements have exceeded probably 400 in the last few years with more retiring by years end. This is more of the same from the Democrats running this corrupt state. They are allowing our public safety ranks for thin out to dangerous levels. Perhaps they have some nefarious plan. I can't think of any logical reason for this. Sooner or later something big is going to happen and there won't be enough coppers available to respond. We are truly screwed.

They are allowing our public safety ranks for thin out to dangerous levels. Perhaps they have some nefarious plan.

************************

Of COURSE they have a plan.

That plan is being implemented in every major police department across the country.

Dwindle down city resources in all major cities across the country.

Let the crime rates rise slowly.

Bring most of your military back into the country.

Just before the rioting begins, sign an executive order stating military personnel will assume policing duties in major cities across the country, temporarily of course.

Local police are "laid off" and become part of the revolution anyway.

Local ex-police are monitored as they are known weapons holders, anyone with a registered M4 is required to give it up or face prison.

Any police caught rioting or on the street with a weapon will be made an example of as new laws are created to imprison those in possession of a weapon on the street during rioting.

The plan is complete. No more local police. A special "detached" service branch of the federal government who's duties are to assume the role of federal police within this country.

The plan puts financial responsibility on the entire country for policing from that point on.

Federal laws are added to allow for a "federal police force" in our own country.

Cities are allowed to fire all police, and those officers may have the choice to join the new "federal police" agency if certain criteria are met.

Federal police will be paid FAR less than local police, but slightly more than current military personnel get, so many will apply from within the ranks of the military.

Cities will then be absolved from being required to pay pensions to retired officers any longer. That absolution will not be available for court review as laws will be changed to allow cities to stop paying retirements for police officers, and those retired officers will have no legal recourse to sue the cities to get their pensions.

All officers fired will receive exactly their own contributions into the pension funds, nothing more.

Ex-police officers will be forced to find new jobs in their 60's or 70's in order to survive unless they become what they've always faught against all their lives, WELFARE RECIPIENTS.

That's the end folks. No more local police. No more pensions. Ex-police having to become federal or find other work. Retirees being forced to accept "federal" welfare so that they too are dependent on whichever politician swears to give them the most money.

Your lives are over. These prophecies will come to pass within the next year or two.

We all better learn how to survive on our own without a controlled society.

We all better learn now to escape the federal controls that will eventually occur where all people are to be contained within special "federal housing" areas in order to maintain control while they get their free food from federal welfare, provided by prison inmates on work farms.

Learn to live off the grid.

Learn to live in small groups to survive.

Learn how to transport and secure your weapons so the "feds" can't find them.

Learn that your govnerment has failed you because it exists to serve the rich, and "capitalism" has failed us all.

Learn to survive and protect yourself, food stores and loved ones, it's all you'll be doing every day of your life in the very near future.

As they experience the Mayor of Munchkinland's lack of verbal talents during his welcome speech, it will most likely be the first time of many in their careers where they will experience shock and awe. 'Full Kline' will not be there to speak for him.

Hopefully, the new hires will not worry much about the sawed-off boob they will see at the podium. He will be gone in a few years and they will have the remainder of their careers to diminish his taint on a once great agency. Good luck to them and may they remain safe for all the years they dedicate to the ISP.

New promotion policy for Chicago Police : No more education requirement. Any current sworn officer can sit for a promotional exam for the next higher rank however, if he or she fail the qualifying part they are automatically demoted to the next lower civil service rank.

74 is a drop in the bucket. The ISP has reduced its ranks over the last several years. The Chicago Expressway take over classes from 1996 era are retirement eligible. And no replacements other than these 74 are on the horizon. If 74 graduate...my guess is about 60-65 will make it through the academy.

What you had 20 to 30 years ago guys would work till about 60(forced retirement age) because they still loved the job. Your opinions about the treatment of, and entitlements supposedly owing to, Minorities/African-Americans/Blacks (your choice) astound me. Do not bother to respond, as any response will be deleted without being read."

Only in the state of Illinois can trying to get a LE job be like playing the lotto against insurmountable odds. CPD is the worst offender if you ask me. Stretched so thin that they're pulling guys and gals from desks to hit the streets again. BUT STILL let's have waiting lists that take years (not months), just to be given the opportunity to chase scumbags, get shot at, and deal with the worst of society. Wow. And if you get there, the Dept. is so inundated with political/ juice B.S. that promotions or special units are not given on TRUE merit. Sheriff's is the same. The only reason there's a steady hiring of CO's lately is because of a federal mandate. Try getting onto Sheriff's Police or a special unit and it's the same thing. This year's CCSPD's cadet class is said to have a whopping 19 new slots for prospective officers.
It just doesn't make sense with all the tax revenues this state generates, and city fees Chicago gets. We should have the resources to get a prospective LEO applicant from zero to academy door in no more than six months.

Bottom line: If you want to be a copper, go west young man (LAPD, etc,) cause this place is a joke.

Capitalism didn't fail us, the government did. If the politicians didn't tinker with the system it would work just fine.

The problem is when the government forces banks to give loans to unqualified borrowers, or when the government bails out certain industries because they are too big to fail. That's where the problem comes from. If it was a bad system, why did communist China turn to it to grow their economy.

(OT) In our careers as DOA copper,s at Midway all of us have seen some crazy shit but this is the topper.
CPD has vehicles that CPD coppers use at the airport for patrol. Then there are 2 "special" vehicles that are kept in great condition 2 Chevrolet Impala police 9C1 spec cars, these cars are fully marked. Ok now here we go, it seems that the airport commissioner got mad when her city car and her friends car who has a job making to much money that buys cars taken away also. Guess what? They took the 2- 1 year old police Impalas that they call "parade cars" CPD uses for special events at the airport like when a first responder here or anywhere in the country needs family transported,or a soldier who is hurt or killed needs family transported as a courtesy these 2 vehicles are kept clean and ready to go.
In her wisdom the cars purchased for CPD were removed from service with CPD and get this the stripes were taken off,and CPD equipment stripped as the guy who buys cars laughed "Rahm thinks he can take our cars,we got 2 more." I know unbelievable wish i had a picture incredible the gall of a commissioner mad because her car was taken from her making what $175,000 per year what a waste!

Guess it means fuck the people who need care in their time of need hopefully rahm reads this and dumps her along with her gang of followers time to clean house Mayor.

8/14/2011 08:09:00 PM

where to begin?

1. "Capitalism didn't fail us, the government did. If the politicians didn't tinker with the system it would work just fine."

not exactly.

you see, you're thinking of capitalism as it used to be, that is, capitol is raised, invested in the purchase of materials, equipment, facilities, utilities, labor, etc., and goods and/or services are offered to the consuming public for purchase, lease, etc., thus generating both incomes, in profits and dividends paid to investors, and expenditures, as in wages to employees, costs of utilities, materials and equipment purchased, facilities constructed, advertising, etc.

investors invested, workers worked, consumers consumed, and everybody earned a living.

for some time now, however, capitalism has meant, to the practitioners, something similar to what 'entitlements' mean to the common link card holder, namely, 'get me more for less, today!!!'.

stocks are now seen as a lotto ticket, traded primarily for their potential, short term increase in value, and no longer as an investment, whose primary attractiveness is steady, reliable dividend production.

opening up the trading of stocks to practically anyone and everyone has, rather than improved the common working man's financial condition, caused the loss of employment opportunities available to same.

when publicly owned corporations have, as their primary financial motivation, the inflation of their stock's value, said inflated value being driven by the perception of short term profit gains, said gains being achieved by exporting labor to exponentially cheaper market regions, the short term opportunities for harvesting wealth are achieved at the expense of long term national economic stability.

2. "The problem is when the government forces banks to give loans to unqualified borrowers,"

the above shift in the major level employers' business strategies has, over the past several decades, resulted in huge numbers of gainfully employed citizens being relegated to the financial status of 'barely making ends meet', thus increasing the number of "unqualified borrowers", primarily of real property secured loans, which, i presume, is what you refer to.

unsecured, by real property, lending is still going strong, albeit at double digit interest rates, as the bulk of those "unqualified borrowers" still are extended, nay, encouraged, if not compelled, to go deeper and deeper into debt, just to 'make ends meet'.

the lending industry does not seem to object to this phenomenon.

3. "...or when the government bails out certain industries because they are too big to fail."

not "too big to fail", but, rather, too reliably lucrative providers of interest income to those holding the debts said industries have had to incur, just to 'make ends meet'.

4. "If it was a bad system, why did communist China turn to it to grow their economy."

they haven't turned to capitalism on the production side, only on the consumption side, ie., we are their target consumers, not merely as consumers of the goods they produce, but also consumers of the very dollars we've used, over the past few decades, to purchase said products.

we've failed to practice conservative capitalism in this country for decades, and, as a result, this failure is now coming back to bite us in the ass, with a vengeance.

We are not a pure capitalistic system. The government sticks its nose in to promote economic stability and growth. But my point is they are too much into telling business what to do.

the above shift in the major level employers' business strategies has, over the past several decades, resulted in huge numbers of gainfully employed citizens being relegated to the financial status of 'barely making ends meet', thus increasing the number of "unqualified borrowers", primarily of real property secured loans, which, i presume, is what you refer to.

The lending industry was forced by the government to give loans to unqualified borrowers, period. If they didn't, the government told the banks they would impose sanctions on them. Look up the Community Reinvestment Act for proof of that.

not "too big to fail", but, rather, too reliably lucrative providers of interest income to those holding the debts said industries have had to incur, just to 'make ends meet'.

Six of one, half dozen of the other, so whats your point?

. "If it was a bad system, why did communist China turn to it to grow their economy."

They moved to a capitalist system, private ownership of business. People with nothing, working on farms, now living in cities, making money, buying goods. Sounds like capitalism to me.

we've failed to practice conservative capitalism in this country for decades, and, as a result, this failure is now coming back to bite us in the ass, with a vengeance.

8/15/2011 01:06:00 AM

I don't know what conservative capitalism is, but we sure don't adhere to the "laissez faire" let it be economy.

I have often wondered why we need a state police in the first place. Every road in the state patrolled by ISP is within a city or a county.

Maybe the state should pay the counties/cities to add local police to patrol those roads and get rid of the ISP altogether except for a small staff to investigate prison crime and similar situations.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So traffic laws don't need to be enforced? You sound like someone who just got off of probation. Those ISP guys do work that would make you shit in your underalls. Try writing tickets, handling accidents, chasing goofs and making investigative stops when thousands of cars are flying by at 70-90 MPH. And oh yea, all while riding 99. Their backup might be ten miles away, and that's just here on our expressways and shit. In some areas of the state, they are the only police around for many miles, sometimes a hundred miles or so. They also have a kick ass investigative arm.

So little boy, go back to sitting in the hole, writing cracked windshields, two parkers and signing the park log.

As I've said before, leave the police work to the grownups.

To any troopers, this asswipe is not representative of how we feel about you at all.

Stay safe.
