Just a Thought...

If Rahm is going to carry water and pay the legal bills for Shortshanks, he ought to make every effort to keep the legal fight in house.

Corporation Counsel is more than adequate to represent a former city employee. After all, they defend/represent other employees constantly, right?

But then we recall that Mara Georges wasn't good enough to represent Daley last time he was deposed a few years ago. Did the City Council approve paying for that one? Or was that paid for out of Daley campaign funds? Or maybe a "quid pro quo" somewhere along the line?

If Corp Counsel isn't up to representing the former mayor, perhaps he ought to pay for his own lawyers. Or maybe we all ought to demand high-powered defense attorneys whenever we get sued and have it paid for by Rahm Emanuel.

There is a legal term for this. It is called pro-boner. It is when the city pays a connected law firm to represent someone the city already pays in-house lawyers to represent. Once again the taxpayer gets dicked. I wonder if the law firm Daley currently works for would take this case pro-boner?

Isn't Daley working for a law firm right now?

Don't you see, his law firm will defend him and he'll send the city the bill.

Flint has learned that the City will pay whenever Daley is required to submit to a deposition.

That is why he settled with Hobley, Patterson et al and threw the detectives under the bus.

Daley was the "COOK COUNTY" States Atty. at the time of the "Alleged" beatings by Burge and not the "CHICAGO" STATES Atty. Let the County pay for his defense.

Wasn't he employed by Cook County at the time? Why aren't they the ones on the hook?

As someone who was defended by the Corporation Counsel in a wrongful death lawsuit, I can assure you that they hate the police, and actually try to get you to acknowledge that You, their Client are at fault! It would be amusing to see King Daley being told he was probably guilty, should acknowledge it, and they'll do the best they can, but don't expect much.

"The city will not, however, run up unnecessary legal bills to defend Daley or Burge," Emanuel said.

“We’re not going to be reckless and let the meter run legally,” Emanuel said.

Rahm, you big freakin' LIAR!

You will give Daley whatever he wants, you COWARD!

If you want to prove otherwise, take the armed manservant's and chauffeurs away and tell Daley to pay his own his legal bill to keep his worthless ass out of jail & save the taxpayers some $$$!

Yeah, Didn't think so!

With all the millions Daley doled out to city law firms they should represent him for free. But we all know it won't happen that way. As soon as Rahm mentioned "tax dollars" to represent Daley you should have known this is going to cost untold millions beside the payouts to "innocent" scumbags and their corrupt lawyers.

Thats classic modus operandi for the city. Hire an outside law firm who pads the hours billed. They in turn kick back to the city. Business as usual.

He has immunity as States Attorney. I believe the Judge ruled that it overlapped to when he was Mayor and therefore the City pays the bill. That is why his immunity does not apply. There is none for a Mayor.

Ask Daley if he will kick in his pension to help the City out with it's financial woes. Daley can give more than that, what with his speaking bonanza and law firm gold mine. Daley will hardly miss a few hundred thousand a year. It's for the good of the city, after all.

He is named as a defendant in his capacity as Mayor, not as States Attorney. He has prosecutorial immunity as States Attorney.

Its an end around his prosecutorial immunity, and probably alleges something along the lines that he aided and abetted the coverup or conspiracy in his capacity as mayor.

May be a successful lawsuit, actually. The juries that will turn on us, will just as quickly turn on him.
