Not So Innocent
- Chicago police say a man shot in the head on the State Street Bridge Monday during evening rush hour has a long rap sheet.
Chicago police are searching for the gunman who shot the victim near Wacker Drive. The victim is expected to survive.
Police said Monday that the shooting was not random, that the victim was a target. The victim's mother, Mildred Gooden, tells The Chicago Sun-Times that her son Todd Brown is lucky to be alive after being shot in the head, and that he didn't see his assailant.
Drug and weapon offenses in his past, a stint in prison, and now he's not cooperating with the investigation. Still, pretty brazen to settle up downtown during rush hour.

Dude better open up his yapper and get to talking. He may not be so lucky next time!
The best is he's making your 100 dollar steak at Smith and wollensky.
I think everyone kind of picked up on this 'victim ain't so innocent' vibe after a minute. Too suspicious to be a random shooting. But with all the police allegedly deployed to the downtown area, how did the assailant manage to get away completely?
I guess the restaurant the victim worked at doesn't do background checks or just doesn't care about hiring dogs.
Today's victim is tomorrow's offender.
How many times have you heard that?
Another place NOT to eat at, Smith and Wolensky. Nevermind eating at that dump Toast, the mayor eats there all the damb time.
Probably used those useless .22s.
If i were that hitman, I'd leave town....
Chicago getting more like Detroit every day. Won't be long till our downtown will fold up and that will be that. The death of a big city. Unlivable neighborhoods, pouring more tax dollars into failing schools, and a city government that only serves to stay in power and not serve the people. Thank Mayor Daley and his greedy pals for making this possible.
WBBM was reporting around 6 p.m. on Tuesday that he had been shot once before, about a year ago.
Yeah,
Greetings from hell, coppers.
the shooter probably used some piss ass 22.
Now when the mob tried to kill me the damn bullets richocheted off my skull. Never use a 22 when a 45 is called for.

A "not so innocent victim" so don't worry about it.
YEAH right. All these shots are so clean and professional, there are never any innocent bystander victims.
Chicago has become Dodge City.
How about the fact that this guy's girlfriend is related to the 6-year old gunned down in her living room in Englewood. That shooting also appeared to be a hit. Could they have been looking for this guy?
How often do your immediately hear the "victim's" history all over the news? Yet, right away for this one...

If today's victim is dead, he was yesterday's offender.

Hey Jasper, seen Kenny Eto lately?

Are you drinking the media Kool-ade too? All the police deployed downtown? Do you think there are police sitting on every downtown corner? Let me refresh your memory- we are fucking shorthanded and down several thousand officers per day and no signs of relief on the way. So no not even your precious downtown is safe anymore!!!! (Remember to thank R.M. Daley for that-you voted for him)
From a former cook now police heres a dirty sad not too secret fact.
All the top restaurants employ cooks and food handlers that are to say the least not very hygenic.
McDonalds use higher standards for food safety than any downtown expensive restaurant.
Remember the "hit" by the mob in the early 80s on "Tokyo Joe" Eto? The hit man ( a Cook County sheriff ) used cheap .22 ammo, took five head shots and it didn't kill Joe, he just a bad headache for a bit. Joe sang like a songbird about what he knew, went into WITSEC and the hit man was hit himself.
The guy on State St needs to get a lotto ticket, he has great luck.
Moral to the story is shithead didn't die and the other shithead is on the loose ready to shoot again. Thus is the cycle of Ghetto Life an ongoing trilogy with no end in site. One big 19-P of Ghetto "Mierda"just different location.
The fact that this asshole works at Smith & Wollensky stops me from ever going back to that steakhouse.
Thank God most of the "jamouks(?)" don't bother to work at all. At least it leaves us with some restaurants to patronize.
Third time's a charm ....
Never eat at Smith and Wollensky. Pass it on.
Good! Anytime an animal gets killed or seriously hurt by another animal I don't give a shit. The criminal justice system doesn't serve out justice. Just a slap on the wrist, more probation, another stint of double secret probation, a short sentence in prison, etc....
What! A shooting " victim " who's not an honor student-turning his life around -wanna be rap star-NBA player?
Well at least the shooter hit his target, not some sleeping kid.
If at first if you don't succeed... try , try again.
dID U SEE IN THE NEWSPAPER how this guy is related to the 6 yr old girl that was killed the other day while sleeping at granma s. Looks like they wanted to finish the job that they fu4k up by shooting the girl instead of him

All of the deployment in 018 is on Michigan ave, and while 001 has foot men on State, this guy ran east. There were also multiple witnesses, and there seemed to be conflicting descriptions of the shooter. Some said he was wearing a raincoat, others said he wasn't. The people that witnessed this were all probably in such shock, they couldn't get a good description. I'm sure that most of the witnesses may have never even seen a person with a gun in their life, let alone watch a person being shot. Between Lower Wacker, the River Walk, and all of the places to jump on a bus, train or cab, it's almost impossible to catch someone downtown with half a brain.

"To kill a man you shoot him in the heart. Isn't that what you said, Ramon?
You shoot to kill, you better hit the heart. Your own words, Ramone.
The heart, Ramone. Don't forget the heart. Aim for the heart, or you'll never stop me."
Bet he dissed somebody in prison, and now it's time for some payback.
Or maybe it's a relative, seeking revenge for the turkey leg he absconded with last Thanksgiving.

Just remember that little .22 long rifle fired out of a rifle will go thru your vest. It is also the most deadliest round ever designed.
great news ,the real criminal may have to take the stand.hopefully he tries to lie and gets caught.
His rap sheet was in the past.
He was turning his life around.
He wasn't about that any more.
He was a good kid, who made a few mistakes in the past.
He...blah blah blah
Maybe he should apologize to the person he had the misunderstanding with.
If you care, better send him his Christmas/Kwanzaa cards now. Don't think he is going to make it to December.

Of course they did. Normally detectives don't comment on any details of the shooting due to the ongoing investigation but in this shooting, they made sure everybody knew this was not an innocent victim or a random shooting. Why? Because if people get the impression that innocent people are getting shot downtown, downtown business will plummet. More people would stay away from downtown.
