Would this have happend if we had the 2000 officers we're short on the streets. would he have been put in check prior to this event. would he have felt intimidated by the ample police presence on his block or his neighborhood. would he have thought twice in pulling the trigger on a cop. 1 cop shot or killed is 1 too many. thank God the officer will be okay. next time it may be worse. Rahm, hire the officers you're short. stop playing games, shuffling numbers and paper, stop lying to the public. Do your job. Do what's right.

O.T.- 025 Officers Hurt

I work on zone 12/district 15. Five officers were victims of an aggravated battery to police. It happened on 1st watch 15-OCT-2011. All officers will recover from their injuries except one. That officer was seriously hurt when the offender kicked him in the testicles. That officer may have serious complications. The offender was a mixed martial artist. May all the injured officers recover fully from their injuries. Kind thoughts and prayers for the injured officers please.

Unfortunatly he would get more time in MI for the parole violation than he would get here for Att Murder.

He should have been sitting in a cell, not running the streets with a gun. Truth in sentencing, or putting them in means nothing.

Is this really agg. battery? After all the officer is only wounded. Alvarez should knock this down to simple battery or even self-defense; because remember she is running for another term in November 2012 and that would look good to her core constituents.

Anonymous 019 closing update said...

OT: SCC, I normally wouldnt place this on a thread as important as this one, and you can delete it if you feel it is inappropriate but I wanted to get you some information.
I called the 47th ward aldercreature's office today, (Pawar--formerly sSchulter) and inquired into the 019 district station closing. The secretary who answered the phone, not knowing I was the police mind you, kindly addressed my concerns. I asked for details concerning the closing. She stated that it is an old building, it is being done in the interest of saving money, and that there was nothing to worry about because the officers will be simply reassigned to the 023 district and continue the police coverage per usual. Which would be all I would need if I were a normal Joe citizen to be contented, hang up the phone, and ignore the man behind the curtain. Joe citizen would let it go and have no cause to make much fuss...everything is going to be fine!
But Im not Joe citizen. I pressed her on the manpower issue. Asking her to affirm that all 220+ bodies from 019 were going to 023 and she would not give me a definite number. She would only repeat the phrase "coverage will be adequate rest assured". When pressed by who's standards she was referencing when she stated coverage will be "adequate" she would not say. I asked her what was to come of the massive land/buildings located at 2452 w. Belmont and she stated that detectives and specialized units would still be utilizing the property, as will the courts. I inquired into what seemingly was the obvious followup question, if the building was still being occupied, then how was money being saved? She again went back to the smoke and mirror cue card and stated "sir, your police coverage will be adequate that's all I can say". I then asked what the alderman, MY alderman was planning to do to combat this putting my safety at risk for politics by taking police officers from the taxpayers and relocationg them to less desirable neighborhoods. I asked if MY alderman would go on record to clarify that this was not just an end around backdoor effort by Rahm and his pawns at accomplishing officer re-allocation/beat reallignment and she refused to answer. I asked if the alderman would go on record to say that not a single officer from the 019 district would be shipped to a ghetto district and she refused. I asked if alderman Pawar would go to war for the taxpaying residents of the 47th ward and protect our assets especially in light of a $750 property installment increase, and all she would say is "the police coverage will be adequate"...she then informed me that the phone call was over and if I had any further questions I would need to leave my name and number and the Alderman would call me back. In a nut shell, 019 does not have a fighting chance. The alderman have been bullied and are actually behind this experiment! The scary thing is, they did it to MSF, did it to TRU, doing it to 013, 021, 019...If you think you are immuned from the wrath of Rahm you are wrong! It's all smoke and mirrors, and if you live in the 47th ward, strap in, folks...you've just been victimized by liberal politics!

Great job, NOW.....if only he would be a guest of the State for the next 70 years or so, he wouldn't have the opportunity to do this again. Unfortunately, at least in Illinois, this will not the case.

OT: A tactical officer from 007 was off duty having a beer at a bar when he was recognized by a shithead he arrested. The shithead and his friend wait for the cop to enter the bathroom, lock the door behind them and then beat the crap out of the officer. The officer sustained serious injuries. An investigative alert was issued for the shitheads.

I hope the officers who catch these assholes administer "justice" properly.

Get well soon officer.

glad to hear that the new officer will recover, however, he should have followed the advise of the more wiser bunch and not gone in to investigate without a more than adequate show of manpower. Just wait for backup of at least 4 or more officers on ANY call thatcould be gun-related. Just one assist officer is not enough. Too bad what the Bosses want, with their Hurry Up and do more for me, I wanna get promoted again attitudes. Screw em, just make em wait till there's enough manpower on the scene to make it as safe as possible for YOU. Above all, Remember your 2% raise. That's EXACTLY how much the City thinks of you. The guy who empties your garbage cans gets a better raise than you. Wise up. Things won't change until you all make them change.

Sorry, but I think you're going a little to far on this one. I don't
believe the number of police on the street would have any impact on when dude shoots at us.

We have to first start with the officers that ARE on the street.
All you dogasses that come on this blog everyday saying how you will not stop anyone, and do the minimum, YOU are the reason these animals act like they do. They know your car will just drive by and not challenge them. So, until ALL officers that are on the street
start acting like the police, more officers will be challenged, shot, etc... Too many college kid cowards on the job these days...men and women. A/2 1st Watch

OT: Could we get so lucky in Chicago???

From the Washington Post:
Campaign of D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray under vigorous federal scrutiny

Since onetime mayoral candidate Sulaimon Brown alleged that he was paid by the Gray campaign to disparage then-Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, federal investigators have been digging into campaign irregularities, according to people familiar with the probe. That has included interviewing several of Gray's associates and election staff members, subpoenaing reams of documents, granting immunity to at least one witness who testified before a grand jury, and taking the fingerprints from two people connected with the campaign.

In addition to Brown’s allegations, investigators are examining possible irregularities in money-order donations to Gray’s campaign, some of which appear to have violated city campaign regulations, the sources said.
