BREAKING: Officer Shot in 005 (bumped)

Altgeld Gardens, GSW to the thigh.

UPDATE: Some commentators are saying subject is in custody. Officer should be OK.

UPDATE: Tribune story here - get a load of this sentence at the end:
  • Some residents said the police response for the wounded officer seemed large compared to other shootings in the community.
Yeah, no shit.

UPDATE: The Tribune is already changing the story as posted - we copied the italicized comment directly as it appeared at 10:33 PM by reporter Liam Ford. By 11:39 PM, the story had been "updated" with a quote from Pat "the Orange One" Camden....and amazingly, the blatant liberal slant previously posted by Liam Ford (and Peter Nickeas, Erin Meyer and Jeremy Gorner) was changed to the following:
  • Some residents said the police response was large.
Right before your very eyes - media bias and then media cover-up. Dishonest, lying, biased motherfuckers, every single one of them.

UPDATE: bumped from last night to top post today

Could you imagine what the police could do if they at the exact same absolute guaranteed freedoms as the media?

And the media abuse that freedom every chance they get!

Then you write them and complain that they are not accountable to any one and the reply from them is always:

"We reviewed the fact of our story and our reporter stands by his story."

It seems that in some quarters of this country people are getting tired of the media standing by the dribble, exaggerations and out right lies that they pass of as unbiased news.

What a bunch of a$$holes.

So typical..

What did you expect from the media?

When you don't get any respect from the political apparatus that you work for -- as they steal your pensions in public view of everyone, what kind of "broken windows" message does that send -- ignoring contributions to your pension plans year after year until it's a crisis -- then act like the victims and the hero at the same time trying to "save" what's left of your pension because it's now a take it or leave it proposition --

Yeah they have no respect for you why should anyone else respect you?

I don't see the relevance of that statement, but it is accurate.

The following statement would have been just as accurate:

"Officers noted that the large media contingent descending upon the scene and the hospital was quite large as compared to other shootings in the area."

Not sure what point the reporter was driving at but when an Altgeld resident is shot and expected to live not a single outlet is devoting an iota of their resources to cover it. Last night there were nearly as many media as police at the scene.

Keep this in mind. When the time comes, the media must be tried and given prison terms for their treasonous actions against We The People, by lying, concealing the truth, marching in lock step with the socialist/marxist/communist dictatorship of obama.

Do not get any of your information from mainstream newspapers, periodicals, any of the mainstream radio stations, TV stations, ANYTHING mainstream/leftist.

Get your information from www.theblaze.com, www.freerepublic.com, www.drudge.com....they print the truth.

Listen to Glenn Beck on radio 560 WIND from 9am to 11am daily. Also, Rush Limbaugh on 890 WLS from 11am to 2pm daily. Also, Mark Levin on 890 WLS radio from 9pm to 12 midnight daily..free download available on the Mark Levin Show website right after the show airs. And for the after midnight listener, listen to Eric and Gary on 890 WLS radio from 2am to 4am daily..free downloads are available daily for the full five hours that they broadcast ...see 890 WLS for the Midnight Truckers website.

I've been reading from and listening to the above for the last two years...this is a heads up for those of you who want to read about the truth of what is happening in this country.

ALSO, check out www.hermancain.com
This guy is a true conservative who is running for the GOP Presidential position....he is a conservative first and foremost, he believes in and will uphold the Constitution. You know,.. the Constitution that dictator oboma wants to destroy and rule as a dictator instead....check out his website and youtube.com for his position on all the vital issues of the day. Herman Cain IS conservative, not a RINO (Republican in name only) or a democommunist.

Chicago Police Officers, you are now feeling the wrath of the socialist/communist/marxist dictatorship that is oboma at the White House and Rahm Emanuel at City Hall. Crush the head of the snake that is oboma, and you will crush the underbelly of Emanuel.

Vote for a Conservative FIRST, or a Republican if a Conservative is not available, but VOTE, and crush oboma..he must be removed, or this country will become a socialist hell hole.

ALL DEMOCRATS ARE COMMUNISTS SAYS:

Boycott the Tribune and all its Sponsors you possibly can. Boycotting all the liberal police-bashing businesses IS highly possible, if Coppers would stick together every time they are mistreated by news media, Companies, etc. Ben &Jerry's Commie-Cones was boycotted right out of Mt. Greenwood by Police families and anti-Socialists who refused to go there for ice cream. Never had a chance. God, B&J stuck up for an out of State Cop-Murderer, along with many Communist Hollywood Celebrities, Actors, Musicians.
Take the few moments, make mental notes who sponsors/advertises with these Quislings, and do your best to boycott their products, pass the word, and spread the word to Cops and their Families. If these stinky spoiled, lazy, cry-baby Commie-Kids can protest together at Wall Street and nationwide, we can do something too, because we are WAY smarter and less lazy than they are.

Welcome to the club Blue Star. Little advice: Stay off as long as possible and you will get a nice federal tax refund in 2012 and 2013. Make sure your bosses put you in for the Blue Star, Valor, 100 Club, Police Chief Medal, FOP Distinguished Award. Don't think they will just do it for you, insist on it!!!! If married go talk to someone (EAP) with your wife before getting back on the horse to ensure you that you are both communicating. Realize that the job changes from now on, with 2 years on you have given up more than 99% of our fine officer ever will.

God Bless

A Blue Star

No doubt true. perhaps worded a little awkwardly.

seems pretty innocent to me.

not a cop.

Well it's not "pretty innocent." That's because you've never been to the scene of one of these shootings and have to listen to the savages hoot and hollar "Ya'll muthafuckers never come out like this when one of us gets shot. Ya'll don't give a shit about that."
No, we really don't. It's not our neighborhood and we're not the ones that turned that neighborhood into what it is. We're just the ones who have to come clean up the mess that "ya'll" do to each other generation after generation.

I thought I never would say this, but it is time for some of these elite bastards to experience violence. What would happen if a "journalist" were shot or injured covering "da hood"? What would be their response, and demand for justice? America has ceased to be a democracy; we are a nation of workers, underclass and elitists. And the elitists control academia and the media. We are just here to support the others.

I thought we were a republic.

No, do not insist on anything. Just get well.

Do this and you'll be a stroke like this person here is, probably thinks they should be promoted too, right?

We are all thankful you are okay and recovering — that is all that is needed/You do not need some medal on your chest to tell you how great you are.

Great job in the gardens last night. A/2 Dets did a great job tracked down the gun and stayed on top of it all. Great heads up thinking from the Officer that brought the tourniquet. It took fire a while to respond. Could of been a bad night.

"tourniquet"...Wait, I thought those 'med-packs' weren't cool to carry per other officers?
....everybody should carry one.

Facts don't have a bias. Reporters and editors might, though.

I can guarantee you - guarantee - that at least one person in the reporter's earshot said, "Fuck that PO-lice! Hope he dies. Hope ALL them mothers DIES."

Was it said? Definitely. Was it reported in the article? Golly, gee, why, no, no, it wasn't. And I wonder why. It's a fact, right? Yet it went unreported. Amazing.

You're definitely too naive to be the police, so maybe you should consider this police blog 'read only' and refrain from posting.

Is the reporter Peter Nickeas any relation to the Area 3 V/C Lt., from a ways back?

No.

God bless the copper that had the tourniquet. We had an FTO who would bring three bags out ot his trunk every watch, including a raft. I don't think he ever had to use it, but it never hurts to have this stuff in the trunk of your car.

I have been on an email campaign, trying to call out the reporters on their inclination take the easy path (lambasting the police), while avoiding the tricky journalism, which would be, of course, to report on the nature of the dysfunction in Chicago's troubled neighborhoods. I emailed Mr. Ford about his recent report. Will post again here if I get an interesting response.

Had a productive email conversation with Mr. Ford regarding the above. Was surprised by his willingness to talk and to acknowledge the potential for implicit negativity about the police in the media.

Actually, some changes are simply called "corrections." Retractions and corrections are two different things, journalistically speaking.
