Rahm Spreads the Pain

Not only is Rahm increasing water and sewer "fees" on Chicagoans, he's jacking up suburban rates , too:
  • It’s not just Chicagoans who would get socked with larger water bills, under Mayor Emanuel’s proposed city budget.

Residents of the more than 100 suburbs that purchase their water from Chicago would also see their bills double over the next four years.

Emanuel emphasized that point Friday as he tried to placate city residents and stressed the need to revamp Chicago’s water-delivery system.

$2.8 billion dollars worth of revamping evidently, but the city is broke and by the way, here's a shitload of double-digit raises for bureaucrats and secretaries.

And don't forget this:
  • The city of Chicago is owed $47 million in unpaid water bills. It’s a big number for a cash-strapped city. A Better Government Association study found those who owe much of that money might not be who you expect.

[...] Harvey owes Chicago $6.2 million, Robbins owes $6.1 million, Dolton owes $1.7 million and Maywood owes $1.6 million.

Yup, Rahm has a handle on everything. Even in Washington DC:
  • Congress isn't getting a glimpse of what's on President Barack Obama's Blackberry - or any more internal White House communications related to the bankrupt solar company Solyndra, which received a $535 million loan guarantee from the federal government.
No inconvenient questions about half-a-billion in taxpayer cash pissed away. Now he finish the job Shortshanks started.

I am so fucking tired of this city. Under the stuttering prick as mayor, the water bill was raised every 6 months for the last 4-5 years. I couldn't take it so I got a meter installed in all my properties. I was promised (in writing) that if I did this, my water bills would not be higher than previous for the next 7 years, guaranteed. Somehow I feel I've been duped.

To add to my naseua from this city, if he is raising all these fees to so called pay off this deficit, why does he keep promising the money made from these fees would be to pay off infrastructure repair. So basically he is trying to collect more money so he can spend more money, not pay off any debt. Typical democratic shit!

When's the CPD housing projects going up for the public employees?

I hear that they're going to be really nice. About 100 sq/ft per residence -- high rises -- very efficient, near work and all that.

As far as the suburbs paying their water bills?

That will not be a crisis that we can use until a Daley gets a position at the water reclamation district I'll bet.

$45 million dollars heh.

Racoon Eyes might pull his "budget shortfall shit" on the folks in Chicago but don't expect our suburbs to roll over and play dead for this little lying prick. Folks in the suburbs for the most part are suffering under the worst economic downturn in recent memory. Many are struggling to keep the lights on and heat in their homes. Putting food on the table has become tough also. Daley poured millions into the sewer and water systems for years. Just where did that money go. Certainly not where it was supposed to. HEY RACOON EYES THERES A FUCKING DEPRESSION GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY!

Don't you just love how Rahm loves the phrase share the pain? Fucking hypocrite.
The 50 alderthieves haven't felt any kind of pain.
They're not being consolidated or privatized. In fact they'll vote theirselves another 6% payraise again this year.
Speaking of raises did you notice how many of Rahms people got anywhere from 7-40% pay increases?
What do you think Rahm will offer us next summer when our contract expires?
This guy is pure unadulterated evil.

Before raising anyone's water bill, you should collect the money that you are owed! Are Chicago's elected elite going to continue to give our water away while we pay? It's time we start a picket line at city hall.

Chicken shit Media won't press the Solyndra issue with Rahm. All the talk about bad investments has Daley crime family written all over it. But City hall will fire off a release of gloom & doom budget woes to distract the general public. Rahm won't mention Daleys name in all the mess of city finances, not even Insp Gen Ferguson calls out Daley, references are even slanted not to mention 'previous administration'.
As for water distribution, are we talking the sewer water Deep Tunnel Project dumps IN my basement and not into the sewer system?
Com Ed wants a rate INCREASE to 'save' consumers money by upgrading the out-dated electric grid.
Rahm want water rate INCREASE to pay for upgrade the water system, but also saying consumers should switch to metered water rates "to save money".
Now, if it's cheaper for consumers for electric & water to do one thing or another, WHY DO THEY WANT TO RAISE RATES? !
Some future private water enity has their ideas, we all know ComEd wants bigger profits and they drop big $ in political contributions. ComEd uses many private subs to do work, (Meade) they don't employ as many locals as before.
ComEd continually raised rates and failed to maintain their infrastructure for decades, just like the City's water system.
But 2012 is upon us and it's an election year, lots of wiggle room in budget,so taxes won't be raised until December 2012.

When it comes to something like Solyndra, with over half a BILLION dollars down the toilet, it's all O.K. and no one is going to jail because:

1) Their INTENTIONS were good.

2) They were DEMOCRATS.

Hence endeth the lesson.

BUT those who pay into the pension funds are the problems, according to the propaganda office and their arm the local media.

Ah, schadenfreunde! It is pretty obvious that the Donk's lied to Rahm about the true financial shape the city was in and his plan to go after Durbins seat is going down in flames.

If UofC and Northwestern Hosp have to pay for water (and hopefully property taxes) I won't shed a single tear

Again Racoon Eyes lies at every turn. He stated in his budget address that "18,000 jobs" would be created with the increase of water rates. Fact is his staff admitted in realty only 10% of that number would actually have jobs. And who are the lucky "connected contractors" going to be. These lying bastards don't look in the yellow pages folks. They already have the usual suspects lined up to grab our tax dollars like always.

The water reclamation district has nothing to do with water delivery. It only deals with sewers and treatment of waste water. Get your facts in order before you write.

Remember this: Rhambo is MUCH smarter than Little Dick. That makes him much more dangerous to honest city employees like us.

Also, he is aware of the fact that
water, like gold or oil, is and will continue to be a very precious commodity in this big bad world. He will milk that for all it is worth.

The other thing is this: Doubling the water/sewer rates for honest citizens who pay up more than covers the losses for the deadbeats who never pay. And we all know who they are. Just consider it another tax to support the useless at our expense.

Harvey, Robbins, Maywood, etc.. all zones of impunity. The law means nothing to them. Try and make them pay.

Run the bills up -- the elected leaders of the city just ignore it and are more concerned about writting and collecting on a $25 parker from a person trying to make ends meet.

Oh... hey... these people may role though a right turn on red at 5am in the morning at 2 MPH THIS SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED..ya know?

However $47 million dollars -- we can let that just skate. Six figure rape job on the public pension system and we can let that skate.

Maybe write-up more rear-seat seat-belt violations on those part-time min-wage temporary wall-mart workers next month -- use them to send a message and make up the losses though them.

Try and collect on those water bills to the burbs. Try and get the money owed to the pensions. It's a crisis now and because of the negelgence and trust that words mean something -- we're going to get the shaft.

...and you're going to sit there and preach to us about "broken windows' crime methodology on how sweating the little things sends an important message.

The banking frauds going unpunished are far from little things, as our the cities negligence year after year of not funding the pensions, as are the suburbs sending the city the message to basically: "go pound sand" in essence because they are not paying their water bill and go ahead and try and collect it.

$47 million dollars!!

$47 million dollars is 1,000 $47k/year jobs for 1 year and instead of going after the people that owe the money the mayor wants to hit the easy marks, the suckers again. The middle class taxpayers of Chicago

I ask you do any of these words match our actions

You get your facts in order. It only has to do with giving jobs to the connected and graft. It is a holding spot to give political jobs to those who need something on their resume so they can spout what a great job they did making sure the water flowed in the sewer.

Anyone have a basement that flooded recently? Thank the Water Reclamation District.

Moved out of Chicago after I retired and I thought I was safe from the corrupt greedy reach of city politicians. Guess I was wrong. Now this little weasel punk mayor is going to double my water bill by 2015. Isn't there some legal recourse the suburbs have to control this maniac? Water is a basic necessity. Why are we going to pay to fix Chicago's water system. What a corrupt little fucking low life!
