Chase, Collision, Arrests

  • Four people were arrested early Saturday morning after their van collided with two police cars pursuing it on southbound Lake Shore Drive, police said.

Police said the black minivan was seen near the scene of a West Side shooting about 12:30 a.m. near Jackson Boulevard and Homan Avenue, were arrested.

In that incident, a witness saw a black minivan driving away from the scene where a 17-year-old boy was shot while walking south on Homan Avenue toward Jackson Boulevard.

  • Police saw the van near downtown about 1 a.m. and tried to pull it over. The car fled north on Lake Shore Drive into the Uptown Police District before turning around and heading back south toward downtown, police said.

The pursuit ended after an accident between the van and two police cars in the 2300 block of Lake Shore Drive, just south of Fullerton Avenue.

No injuries to the police or bystanders, four jagoffs in custody. You know what that means? Comment section closed at the Tribune! You wouldn't want the police actually getting praise on a job professionally done, would you?

The Uptown Update blog posted this yesterday and it was believed it may have been a retaliation from, or otherwise connected to, the four people shot Friday night at Wilson and Sheridan in 023.

The lakefront liberals have taken notice of the trending uptick in gang violence in Uptown and are none too happy about it. Daley's (and now Rahm's) plan to downsize the CPD along with under staffing the North side districts, IS NOT being accepted with open arms here, though nary a voice was raised about shutting down 019.

Whats kind of cars were they chasing with? Tahoes & unmarked cars aren't allowed to chase per general order and there aren't many blue & white squad cars left. Im sure there were numerous other car chase G/O violations from the sounds of this. Speed, boxing in maybe. I'll bet the dept. fucks over these officers with at minimum a preventable accident ruling for doing actual good police work. Maybe not since it hit the news in a good light for a change but i wouldn't be surprised. An attorney told a story of winning a settlement against the city over 2 tact officers chasing a car with Latin Kings in it that crashed during the chase killing one of the shitheads inside the car. Family used this lawyer, sued & won because unmarked aren't supposed to chase.

Why is anyone involved in a chase these days? Let the cameras catch the bad guys!

SCC I dont know where these flipin reporters get their info but actually two officers went to the hospital. Their injuries were minor but they were injured nonetheless. It could have been much more serious. Nice work by the officers involved.

Calm down sparky. A Sgt. from the Entertainment Detail threw a churro wagon off the North Ave. beach pedestrian overpass. Mission accomplished.
