IPRA Reopening Closed Cases?

This rumor pops up every so often. It came up the other day, too:
  • a po was just stripped for an allegation that was six yrs old and not sustained by ops six yrs ago- ipra opened it back up -rule 14 on a case given by the only person at the scene- watch out boys!

Anyone care to chime in with good info on this? Seems like something we'd all need to be concerned about if it was actually happening.

well, for what he did hes lucky he only got a rule 14. If the statute of limitations was longer he would be charged criminally.. and it wasnt just a witness.. wayyyy more to the story.

See that my fellow officers. More incentive to get out there and do some excellent proactive police work. Go ahead and make a lot of traffic stops, street stops, go through people, find that good old 1811 or best yet a couple of rocks, maybe you might find a warrant. Write parkers, movers, impound cars, two cars. Go ahead, the city has your back. The bosses will watch out for you.

Don't these parasites have enough recent open cases to take care of instead of going back to closed cases. Just shows how pathetic this dept. is.

True. A p.o. in 011 has 3 reopened cases that were closed. IPRA said they discovered a "pattern?" All cases were excessive force allegations.

Not enough coppers willing to step in shit nowadays.

IPRA is under pressure by city hall to get as many coppers off the job as possible.

I heard from a source(IAD)that Mcstupid is big on integrity checks, reopening old cases and firing p.o.'s period- would of expected this from the old fed sup but a street cop from NY, this brakes all the rules from shooting his gun off duty, getting arrested for going nuts about a parking ticket his kid got, using the N word, fooling around on his wife with another copper- and he wants integrity checks give me a break- u find as gun without a firing pin write it up EXACTLY how it went down

Why not just put the staions on a 9 to 5 schedule? Close the desk for reports. This is how the suburbs do it.

I havent had a beef in over 12 years. Why? because I answer my calls and go home. I know yourheart is in the right place, but your on the wrong department to be a police officer.

The Chicago Police have been DEBALLED, DEFANGED, AND TOTALLY PUSSIFIED. And there isnt a damn thing we can do about it because we dont stick together.

Go back to school and or open a small business. Live life. This job is totally gone. 1st & 16th then get your 20 and run like a mofo!

A source, who has been right on in the past, indicated that they brought in some retired feds to go through all the old cases. I am guessing they are friends of Jody, who wont go away.

This job is like boxing "PROTECT YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES" Give the city what is required, because if you screw up they will go above and beyond to shove it up your ass. This is our job, the goal is to provide for your family! Don't provide the with the chance to take your freedom, pension or job. Back each other up, stay safe and weather this current storm.

You are a goof and what is wrong with this department. How about backing your guys instead of asssuming that they are wrong right off the bat. I sure would hate to work with you, better yet I know for sure I would never get in a car with you. You are a SELLOUT.

When is the department going to demand the courts to say on record that they are finding a no probable cause, nolle pros or sol based on overcrowding of our jails and prisons or the weight of the narcotics, not because of any wrong doing or insufficient evidence on the part of the arresting officer? The courts are hanging the arresting officer high and dry and thats bullshit.

If your clean no worry if you are dirty leave without the disgrace or tarnished badge. IPRA and IAD are necessary or everyone would be out of control but sometimes it is a witch hunt. IPRA and IAD need checks also but for the most part they can't really investigate thank god for us.

You mean cr's from our fine citizens who would never lie or make up allegations against the police. There are pretty much three types of beefs against an officer working in a fast district. money beef, excessive force beef and he called me names beef.

If you work in those districts eventually they all become similar because the shit heads keep complaining because your messing up there money making operations.

I say "Where's the beef?"

Do your best to get all your Family and Friends who care about you to Vote Republican next Election, and ALL Elections afterwards. If you duck, and get caught, you and your immediate Supervisor will be written up for disciplinary action, up to, and including Termination. IAD is in the parking lots people, recording and taking notes. Beware, All Officers, don't lose your job over ducking out early without leaving an APPROVED CU Time Slip. No more back-dating slips if theres a problem, YOU're GONE.

THIS IS SO TRUE. Those of you New Guys with only a few years on who want to be the "Real Police" are TOO LATE. Just see this as a job, do what you have to, and go home. don't take risks, don't be a Hero, you'll get killed or fired. It's NOT worth it. Video Cameras and spies EVERYwhere. You just can't do what the old-school Real Police could. Be smart and neutered, it's better than being dead, or fired, or sent to prison, ala Cozzi, for BULLSHIT.

ops was looking at establishing patterns a long time ago. for example there are a lot of not sustains that do follow a pattern. there was a cop who got moved from 008, 024, 004. people alleged he punched them in the ear from all over the city but they were not sustained. it looks like those kinds of cases will be sustained based on a pattern. yeah citizens lie but whats the chances of several dozen people from all over the city making up the same story.

Yeah it's called organized crime, the GD, VL, LK can make a pattern of beefs like they did in LA on hard working officers to fire them. It appears IPRA in the future is going to work with gang members to fire police officers. Great.

If IAD is watching us, who is watching them? I know for a fact that the fine members of our IAD do not put in a whole day. There are more ducks in that unit then on a pond. It is sad day, but the job is over and the proactive police are now all gone. Any police officer that goes out there and puts their neck on the line or even walks near the line is a fool.

in regrads to IAD leaving early. The certain sgt who puts in 4 hr days and collects OT on top, was also the sgt who was the supervisor to the polish kid who allegedly planted drugs on a friends spouse in the 025. what a great f#$@!&g job we have a total joke somebody should look into that. IAD is a great spot for a guy like that. if he were to investigate you its kind of like an officer testifying in court with a rule 14 violation, right? right? nothing will be done about it.
