Ouch
- A Marquette Park neighborhood man is expected to appear in court later today after he was accused of wresting a Taser from a Chicago police officer and using it on him Sunday night during a struggle on the city's Southwest Side, police said.
The incident began with officers attempting to interview Dashawn James, 19, because they thought he had violated curfew in the 6500 block of South California Avenue, according to police.
A fight broke out after officers followed James, who fled and became "combative," punching two officers and gaining control of one of their Tasers, according to a police report.
James "deployed" the Taser several times striking an officer’s arm, according to the report. Another officer used his Taser to subdue James, who was arrested at about 10:40 p.m. Sunday.
Be careful out there.

Again the media does not get the story quite right. Turns out jagoff popped with out of state robbery warrant. Good job officers, sad about the injuries, they are two of the best coppers on the Midnights. They will be missed.
just curious - what curfew is a 19 YO subject to?
not a cop.
Should have read, another officer used an stricker fire automatic and ceased the threat.
WTF....
Idiot. All he had to do was to talk to the cops. Now he's facing some serious legal issues as well as being on some cop's sh*t list.
Deadly force option? Just saying....
Fuck the taser! At that point it should have been a 9mm parabellum to this animals face.
Would be fitting if you have him in a neadlock when he tasers you and you tense up snapping his neck. Would that go as a suicide?
If a shithead takes your taser and tries or does use it on you. Deadly force is authorized. Because it will incapacitate you and the offender could gain control of you primary weapon and kill you.
Dashawm should be wrapped in a blue tarp and dumped on a pile of his kin at the medical examiners office.
my partner and I always joke that its a matter of time when some PO will get their shit taken from them and used against them. Look at your coworkers and you will see many reasons why. We laugh but obviously a serious issue. you dont have to have your A game everyday, but you better be able to bring it on, in a split second. Hope this guy is in the hospital. This makes me sick !
I hope this P.O. had a holster for the taser. Too many times I see P.O.s walking around with tasers in a vest pocket thats only secured by a velcro strap or nothing at all. I don't get it. I see it a lot with knifes too. The best is TAC guys walking around with level I or pancake holsters on duty. It's because it looks cool. Invest in your safety. Secure your tasers.
Said to say there is more of this to come. Soft touchy feely hands with a hands of approach makes more of this to happen. The public wants everyone to play nice. Well watch Rambo III. That's what happens. No control. Murder, Rape, and all others on the rise.
Continue on and have a nice day :)
"Wresting and using it on him"
Meanwhile, if an Officer legally deploys it on an assailant, the officer "Shot the victim with the taser, sending over 50,000 volts into the honor student"
Dashawn's momma done be lucky he isn't dead,,,or maybe not----she missed hitting the ghetto lotto.
Glad the officer is ok
Officers , anytime you are threatened and a person advances toward you , use night stick or taser . It could have been your gun . Thank God you're ok.
Youve got to be kidding...
If the bad guy gets a taser and uses it or threatens to use it on an officer, that is a deadly force situation.
Shoot that mo fo
"Another officer used his Taser to subdue James..."
Uh...Dashawn here is EXTREMELY lucky that he's not on top of that pile in the County Morgue.
19 years old. These animals have no respect for authority. Imagine attacking a cop 10..15..20 years ago. This is what is out there now. This little fuck sould be in a box right now. Oh...I forgot...he probably has issues with his life and was trying to vent.....blah blah blah.
What is "obstructing identification"? never heard of such a charge.
I was under the impression there was only a very minimal requirement under IL law to identify one's self to police.
Not a cop.
Shoulda ventilated young Mr. James, because if hit by the taser, no doubt he would've gone for your gun.
Some of you officers are becoming too reliant on the tasers. This was a shoot situation as soon as the PO was disarmed of his/her taser.
two coppers were hurt in this incident. One guy, who is a great guy and a great policeman got hurt really bad. I heard his kneecap was shattered and will need a full replacement surgery. Thats pretty damn serious.
one PO with a broken patella, the other with a dislocated knee
Asshole takes taser & uses it, lethal force os allowed. Learn that use of force model people, may is going to be fubar!
Will a # be had on the officer which lost his/her taser?
I'm very interested to find out what really happened not to monday morning quaterback it but to make sure that it doesn't happen to me. Anyone know what actually happened?
Not to Monday morning quarterback, but is this piece of garbage still breathing air? Should of been shots fired by the police...
He should have been shot and killed once the officer was able to shoot. If he had gained control of his weapon that would have been very bad. These animals need to get put down.
Im going deadly force if he has partner subdued by tazer. Under a second to disarm and murder him with his own weapon.
Just my 2 cents
Um, he just disarmed you with a device capable of incapaciting you and proceeds to deploy it on you pull that other thing out.., your gun and kill that fool
How much ya wanna bet?
This Asshole along with the assistance of the A.C.L.U. and Peoples Law Office will sue the city!
Then they will settle and the city will pay at least a "5 figure check" for what should have been a 19-Paul and forget about it!
Police work in this City is so over!
De-Police will ya guys already!

Armed with stiffer penalties that took effect Sunday, Chicago and Secretary of State police began cracking down this morning on motorists who abuse disabled-parking placards.
A team of 21 officers checked 54 vehicles parked in disabled spaces in the Loop from 6 to 9 a.m., citing eight people for unauthorized use of placards and two people for improper use of disabled license plates, according to the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities.
Police will continue the stings downtown and in other areas of the city, said Lt. David Blanco of the Chicago Police Department’s traffic unit.

None, but no one knows he's 19 until they ask. Hard to distinguish that age on a dark side street...
Just sayin'.

They didn't know his age at the time. He looked young and they stopped to ascertain his age.
They found out his age when he was arrested for the taser incident.
his companion was 13. the bad guy grabbed the taser out of the po's hand as he reached for his cuffs.

you're such a cockteaser.
Chalkie
The officer whom was disarmed was being cautious of his injured partner whom was still holding onto the jagoff... the officer did not shoot as to not hit his partner... JOB WELL DONE OFFICE
the offender looked very young--could have easily been a juvenile--officers were just doing their job and investigating it--ok Mr. Not a Cop 06:26 am--does that explain it!
I guess verbal judo or BACK SIR!! Didn't work in this situation! Glad officers are okay!
Not a cop.....
It means the kid looks as if he could be younger than 18 and the officers approached to ask some basic information. We don't have a crystal ball, we have to get out of the car and interact with the public. Capice?
Turns out he fought because of an out of state robbery warrant. The two officers injured are good police.

Just curious. Do you have YOUR birthdate tatooed on your forehead? Well, neither does he. So, he was stopped for suspicion of being a curfew violator.

Love to know the rest of the story. It's legal to be an able-bodied driver, if you're driving the car registered to the disabled person and you're dropping off or picking up the disabled person.
Should be some interesting stories attached to this mess.

Oh, man. I fell on my knees on ice years ago and it's never going to go away. Like everything else, it hurts like hell when weather gets cold and damp. Still something floating around in there.
I would say don't wrassle with someone like this when you'd better shoot instead. Lose an eye to the Taser, or have your sidearm taken and used on you. That so called "life" you cuffed and dragged in ain't worth the risk. It'll be back on the street soon, just as bad, and will hurt more people.
Not second guessing, officers dealt with it as they saw how. All I know is how my knee feels. Owwwwwwww.
You guys got my sympathy and prayers for a speedy recovery. May God bless.
To those who question this scenario, put yourself in this position. You attempt to place a 19 year old in custody in the middle of the street at 66/California. The offender, who has an aggravated robbery warrant with national extradition, turns instantly and begins fighting you up close. Your partner immediately shatters his knee cap on the icy concrete and you tear a ligament, dislocating your left knee, pushing your knee cap to the side of your leg, all while you and your partner continue to try and place the offender in custody, wrestling with the offender on concrete and ice. Doesn't sound easy does it?. I saw both officer's injuries up close and they weren't pretty. They did what they had to. If you get in a similiar scenario, God bless and go home safe. Please be safe out there officers.

You can't be a cop otherwise you would know the answer.
HCP Plate or Placard Use is dependent upon the OWNER of the Vehicle or Mobile HCP permit being "Transported/Present" for someone other than the Owner to benefit from Free Metered Parking/HCP Space Parking.
Take what We write at Revenue:
Invalid Placard And either the Meter Violation or Disabled Parking Violation.
And if it turns out the Permit or Plates belong to someone that has had them Revoked or is actually Deceased....the Fine is Stiffer and a criminal charge can be filed.

Cuff the bad guy first before anything!!!! It's not against the law to cuff dude, then talk w/ him and run his name!!! It takes 15 seconds to cuff and uncuff him.

I am a cop. I go to the store all the time for my aunt who has a link card, no car, and is sick. Should I make her go with me each time? Or should I be a good niece and just shop for her? You people are so judgemental.
