Police Shoot OFFENDER (updated)

  • A man was shot by Chicago police this evening after they were summoned to the Hanson Park neighborhood for a domestic-related incident and were confronted by an armed man who refused to drop his gun, officials said.

The shooting happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. on the 2100 block of North Laramie Avenue, police said.

When officers arrived on the block, they were met by a woman who said she had called police after her boyfriend became beligerent [sic] inside their basement apartment after drinking. She also reported to police that the man had a gun, said Patrick Camden, a spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police.

Hey! It's the Orange One! Hi Pat!

And here comes the media bullshit:

  • The loaded and cocked handgun was recovered at the scene, said Camden.

    No police officers were injured.

[...] The victim was shot in the left side of his chest, police said.

Offender, you assholes. Police shot the OFFENDER. The victims are the police officers.

Someday, the media will get this correct, hopefully after one of them is beaten into a bloody pulp during a crime. And hopefully, the officers on scene relate to them that they were battered by a "victim of society" or some other such crap.

UPDATE: The Tribune has now changed the article to read "The man was shot in the left side of his chest..."

He's still an OFFENDER and if he lives, will be charged as such.

Good shooting Officers.

I hope during the G8/NATO summit, the friends of the media will descend upon their storefront studios and get a first hand encounter with their fans.

I advise that all police officers allow the fans to frolic with their media heroes as they come crashing through their doors and windows downtown.

And if a media or two gets into a little bit of a close call with one of their many fans descending upon the city this May, let the love fest begin.

P.S. Fuck the media in this town.

Remember all the never-built condos the "flippers" were going to sell in this area, once site of the old Glidden Chemurgy soybean-oil solvent-extraction plant which blew a whole block sky-high back around 1937 or so...anyway, they had the artists'-conception signs up along there, the paint peeling off in the weather.

One of these signs actually described the neighborhood as "JEFFERSON PARK!"

SCC you are spot on in your assessment that it will take a violent crime to convert some un-informed reporter into a true beleiver. It happened years ago to a very liberal Roger Simon. He got his ass handed to him during a strong armed robbery one night and instantly became our greatest supporter and apologist in the Chicago Sun-Times. Not a bad guy. he is still a correspondent in DC, I beleive.

The reporter must have read this blog. It now says "man" and not "victim." It would have been better if they changed it to "offender" but I guess we'll take what we can get.

Screw the media-do what you have to do to stay alive when someone points a gun at you. Too many dead cops on ODMP, some of whom gave the bad guy a break and got killed for it.

I only hope I live to see one of those bleeding heart reporters get a whoopin'. Telling them they had been assaulted by a "victim" would make my day.

Who does care what the media says? None of the pussies here on TV have never seen combat whether it be in Afghanistan or the streets of Chicago. War is war and until one or two of these guys have had it put in there face they will not understand. CPD's job is not to die for the public, but to protect the good tax paying citizens of Chicago. And they do it too with the limited resources they are allowed. Give all my tax dollars to make CPD the proud force it once was.

Im just curious but has the publics perception of officer involved shootings changed since the orange one has been hired? Prior to his arrival all that was said from ipra was that police were involved in a shooting and nothing else. With the orange one getting close to six figure if not more is he really necessary?

SCC, you are just being silly, silly, silly!!! Of course this poor fellow was a victim. He was a victim on the day he was born to generations of parents that trained him to be a victim. They did that by not taking control of the gangs in their neighborhood at the very beginning of the thuggary. If the gang leaders and members were ostracized by their neighborhoods so they were left powerless in the beginning, gangs would have died out. Then he was taught by liberal asswipes that encouraged them to celebrate his heritage instead of instilling a sense of communal responsibility and accountability for this actions. The pillars of his community were the rev'runds and activists that gain and maintain their power by preaching victimization, and entitlement so that he thought he was supposed to, and was entitled to act that way. That he had every right to get over lubricated and straighten out his girlfriend with a gun [if she only had listened to reason!] Then when he was asked politely to not threaten the police and drop the gun, all that tuition to the school of hard knocks came due all at once. Poor victim indeed. And the real guilty ones, the perpetrators of this failed social experiment, get off. Damned shame all around.

Most in Chicago Media are clueless.

If they were sharp, they would be conducting a lot of investigations on corruption as well as clouted positions in both the city and the county.

it isnt just the media who is after us. after the shooting from 72nd and campbell the bosses are blaming the shooting on the police being in plain clothes...A boss who also happened to get in a shooting on the west side said
"this would never have happened if the police were in uniform""the guy couldnt tell they were the police" the cops had vests and stars on and also yelled police at the guy with the gun. this same boss was off duty during his shooting and yelled police but for him thats enough of identification not for other police. they also are saying the bad guy didnt shoot at the cops even after finding many shell casing from bad guys gun in his own blood. the bosses say maybe he shot before they arrived lol

Bigger guns and more of them.

Think positive: the dept. will replace all rounds expended in the line of duty now all we gotta do is get them to stop allowing fukn IPRA TO TAKE YOUR WEAPONS for three months.

A weapon and equipment cleaning room in every station would be nice if they didn't say men or women on the doors?

He is being quoted even more now on the radio. It seems that at least he is putting out more information than the previous voices of the department. Remember after a shooting Hillard would say that someone would get fired? Than Unique Bonds would not know what to say because she couldn"t remember who she works for.

Just last week in a local newspaper, the new spokesperson for the Illinois State Police, Monique Bond, was quoted about an investigation into testing at a State of Illinois crime lab. How many jobs has she had? How many pensions will she get?

always get a chuckle out of cops getting bent out of shape about victim/offender.

SCC, you're arguing a language issue that you either can't or refuse to understand. the english language doesn't care about your concern to distinguish by using cop-speak. if you get shot, you're a gun shot victim, period. you can BLAME whomever you like by using your words in the rest of the sentence.

a homeowner who shoots an intruder is a victim of home invasion. the dead intruder is a home invasion offender and a gun shot victim.

jesus christ.

Just speculators, trolling for dumb customers like the new-flock Polacka, etc. "Luxury con-do-meen-yoom, hardwood floor, yes, granite counter, yes, yes." Translation -- chipboard throughout, done up with air nailers. The Slums Of The Future...

...if they ever got built at all. I mean, the one thing every "developer" could afford was an "artist's conception" sign to put out front, even if nothing else got built and he found a way to escape with the "non-refundable pre-construction deposits."
