Faster Response Times
Officers have been responding to 911 calls more quickly this year, according to new figures released Thursday by the Chicago Police Department.
Department officials hail the faster response times as proof their strategy to put more cops in patrol cars is working. But the Fraternal Order of Police counters that a rise in murders and shootings shows the patrol officers aren’t doing enough to prevent violent crime.
The average response for a “priority-one” call was 4 minutes in January and February 2011 compared to 3.46 minutes for the same period this year — about 13 percent faster.
Officers are responding more quickly to lower priority calls, too. The average response for a priority-two call fell from 4.94 minutes to 4.21 minutes and 5.63 minutes to 5.4 for a priority-three call, the department said.
A “burglary in progress” is one example of a priority-one call. A report of a burglar alarm going off would be a priority-two call and a burglary that already occurred would be a priority-three call.
No questions, no tracking data, no word on the constant backlogs. Not even a hint on how priority one jobs can be held for 10 minutes before being dispatched to an available unit and that's still considered "acceptable." Or how a priority three job can be held for 60 minutes before it's considered "over the limit." Or dope calls being stacked 4 deep on tact teams just to "clear the board" and OEMC looks good.
That would take actual reporting skills from the Sun Times, and that just isn't going to be happening.

Quick. Someone find out if his pants are actually on fire.
When seconds count the police are only minutes away.
That's why the 49 other states have concealed carry.
It works everywhere else. What could the Illinois polititions possibly be worried about ?
OT Take a look at the new General Order that came out on Friday.

What a crock. How do they think that they can control anything like this that is done outside of the department. I see this one being pulled in the not so distant future.
Slower resonse times, If tonite is any indication of how things are going to be run in 011 (and in turn the city), then you ain't seen nothing yet.
Hey, Frank Main, there is not one name on this blog you haven't been called. You probably don't give a fuck. Neither do I.
Yet, answer me one question, how can you call yourself a professional journalist when you write such shit that is dribbled out of the mouth of liars?
I guess you are no better than the crooked politicians and the bad cops, both of whom we would like to see driven out of town, preferably in a bus to a prison.
For Christ's sake, can't you do any real digging into your stories?
I sure the fuck hope the Sun-Times goes under and quickly, too!
Your sensationalism and hap-hazard investigation is a disservice to the citizens.
Shit, you might as well write that the police arrive on scene in 3 seconds.
THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY OEMC KNOWS WHEN A POLICE CAR ACTUALLY ARRIVES "ON-SCENE".
In most case, the responding units do not inform the dispatcher they are on scene via the radio or the computer. In some cases, officers push the following buttons on the PDT in rapid succession: acknowledge, en route, on scene.
The department does not even remotely have accurate response times, but you report this shit as if it was given to you on golden tablets from heaven.
Frank, if you did your homework, you would know that. But you're a hack reporter, who seems to be looked up to by other hack reporters.
And I have some land I want to sell you in Florida....
Does this mean 'time that it took for police to arrive', or 'time it took to dispatch the job from the time 911 took the call'?
Given the response times I've personally witnessed, this 'study' doesn't hold water.
Maybe in 007, with its current glut of police officers, but not citywide. Something about this stinks to high heaven.
Will response times get even better now that cars in 011 can't leave their little boxes? Will the mandate from Fort Fellatio to monitor the cars via GPS and punish them and their supervisors for non-compliance drive down those pesky 'indices'?
Hey McASSHOLE!! You and your Puppet Master are this/close to a mutiny from the folks in 011. You tread on thin ice. Lay the fuck off before you see what we're capable of here. We WILL shut this place down, and the backlash you'll get from the Rev'runs will be more than enough to get your ass launched back to the east coast.
Keep pushing, jagoff. Your days are numbered.

RE:Hiring Wave!
..... in 2010 we lost 412 officers below the rank of Sergeant and 36 from Sergeant and up from retirements. In 2011 we lost 256 officers below the rank of Sergeant and 14 from Sergeant and up from retirements between Jan '11- Aug '11. (The numbers were all taken from the F.O.P. newsletters. The last numbers posted were in the Dec 2011 newsletter and those were for Aug 2011 retirements. One can only imagine how many more pulled the plug before the end of 2011) That's 718 police gone in LESS THAN 2 years!!! Currently there are 212 officers assigned to the 16th District. Enough police have retired to staff more than 3 districts........
Anyway, the March F.O.P. newsletter has the retirements for
Sep 2011 (21 / 2 = 23 total)
Oct 2011 (14 / 1 = 15 total)
So now for 2011 we have 291 below the rank of Sergeant and 17 Sergeants and above.
Lets set the total for below the rank of Sergeant in 2011 at 400.....
Are you taking the over or under when we add in Nov and Dec???
Oh god give me a break. And the people believe this bs?
Will these silly-assed muthafuckahs EVER STOP with their bullshit?
Frank Main will pantyless para-sail in a thunderstorm as long as he can carry the water for the little twisted, maniacal Boris Karloff in a tutu.
Why are these fucks so heavily invested in this eyewatering display of fuckery with numbers?
Especially pertaining to CPD?
Unfortunately the public believes this crazy shit.
Hey Frank! Hey McDrinky! Hey Tutu on Fire! Grin up the ass of this statistic!
13% faster response because there's 100% less snow on the ground perhaps? Nawww! Really?
A Chicago Compstat miracle! A click of McDrinky's mighty mouse and wine has become piss and bread shit!
EGAD! Is there ANYTHING these idiots WON'T take credit for? They're surely spraining ass muscles running away from culpability for destroying CPD as a law enforcement entity.
NOW GIT! Go on somewhere else with that crazy shit y'all gypsy good time muthafuckahs are sellin'! We're stocked full to the ceiling with it!
What a FLAMING SHIT-SHOW this job has decayed to...
Alright! So we're doing a better job. So we deserve a fat raise come negotiation time, right?
How about we aren't driving through 4 feet of snow frigging morons....People just eat this crap up without even taking a second to think about the reasons..
More lies for old!
How did they come up with these numbers? The "enroute/on scene" button that nobody presses on the PDT that works half the time...that is, if you have one
Hitler gave out DATA the same way and NOBODY questioned him either?
Figures lie and liars figure.
This is just another blatant attempt by Rahm and McNutty to cook the numbers and lull the sheeple into a false sense of security. They're trying to say we have enough officers, crime is down and our response times are getting faster.
Anyone of us who answers those calls sees right through their bullshit.
The police are down a few thousand officers and crime is up. Lets not thank the officers for doing more work with less resources. Lets thank McGee8. Who knows how they figured out that we are responding to jobs faster, but I do know that the very people responding to those jobs aren't going to be given any credit.
I call bullshit. The question is, how did they distort these numbers?
What is "news" these days? If you conduct an analysis you will concluded that about 85% of "news" is nothing more than repeated information from a source (usually the government or corporate America). The "news reporter" is just repeating information from one source to us the viewer or reader. The other 15% of "news" is the sports, weather and then a tiny fraction is actual critical thinking/investigative journalism.
A true investigative journalist would have a field day in Chicago. But those days are over.

As I read the above post, I am laughing my ass off. Despite the fact you folks in 011 are being treated like shit, you will continue to lock people up, find felony arrests, write parking ticket, moving violations, tow cars, find curfews, etc... In other words all bark and no bite.
The problem in this department is two fold: people are scared to go to a check off and bring in zeros across the board (no arrests, no curfews, no parkers, etc.) and also their precious ego (you know, I am the big bad police, I have a gun and a star, I can stop people, I can arrest people, etc.) prevents them from doing nothing more than responding to the pdt.

The original communist newspaper Pravda was closed in 1991. There is a tabloid now called Pravda that is no relation to the original.
Right, response time is down and so is crime. And 2.5 million people went to the July 3rd fireworks shows. The check is in the mail, I love you and I won't, well, you know the rest.
We used to scoff at the bullshit that came out of the mouth of Mayor Mumbles. This guy speaks clearly and is articulate but the lies are just as bad.
The social media order came out yesterday and there is already a causality. Don't f*cking post anything on facebook regardless how cool you think you are with your uniform on. The person jammed up is not a hairgel either.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Palm to face.
Haaa Yes the over educated's pencil sharpener is fast at work YET AGAIN!
Had to happen department. Now suburbs of Chicago wants the state legislature to give them the option of putting "speed cameras" in their towns. Looks like Redflex has been busy buying up suburban politicians to fuck their citizens even more.
so this is what is has come down to? piecework?
Speaking of 11th Dist 3rd watch, what the fuck is going on over there?? It sounded like a cluster fuck last nite. What's with all this zone and beat integrity shit? 20 sounded like his usual asshole self (Really? Quickly terminating a chase after jagoff struck a squad car? Do you think if that car struck that psycho's car he'd terminate?). The dispatcher is an annoying bitch (I mean that in every negative sense of the word). You all on zone 10 know which one I mean. Can somebody please just tell her to shut the fuck up! You guys need to band together over there. Stop with the bullshit pcs footchases. You have more important shit going on over there. Area 4
is closed, headquarters is making a mockery of 11th Dist patrol, the district has and will continue to suck...things are going to shit over there.
Response times usually ARE faster in the frickin winter! When shit starts hitting the fan while it warms up, response times will lag again, particularly in 011 and 007. Anyone listening to 011's radios last night can attest to that! What a fucking circus! Dispatchers having to get a supervisor's permission for a car to leave it's beat. One car having to be put on a detail to "cover" another beat, if said beat car is in a "zone" and has an arrest or is otherwise occupied. At several times we literally had 3 cars down "covering" the beats of 3 more beat cars that were in the "zone" and down on arrests, while all of the other cars had to cover for the six down cars! I know it sounds confusing when you read it, so imagine the radio last night! What a joke this department is!
FOIA
Media: File a Freedom Of Information Act request!!
THERE IS NO WAY TO TRACK WHEN THE UNIT GETS TO THE SCENE!!!!!
We all know that when we arive on the scene WE COULD tap the "On Scene Key" on the PDT however 99% of us DO NOT because you are supposed to keep your eyes open when you arrive at ANY SCENE otherwise you could wind up dead.
Plain and simple....
THESE NUMBERS ARE MADE UP!!!
What ever happened to true journalism?
All we have now are people in the media that publish whatever is handed to them by the corporate owned political puppets.
No fact checking, no verification. Nothing. That's not investigative journalism -- that's propaganda.
Get the damn money and the corporations out of politics!
We need to get our country back.
What does this measurement prove if the criminals are not being caught or the crimes prevented?
Oh and hey if everything is working out so well because cops are showing up on the scene 30 seconds faster then we better go back to the old system because how much were homicides up last month again! Something like 40% right?
BTW how much snow did we get last Jan and Feb that may have effected these response time last year vs this year?
There's an old saying in statistics. Correlation doesn't mean causation.
Residents in the outlying districts such as 016, 008, 022, amd 004 should be calling upon their aldermen to contract with nearby suburbs to handle the "overflow."
We would get much faster (and maybe even better) service from the suburban departments.
Just come up to the new 019 and see how response times are, its not uncommon to have ten-fifteen minute response times now that its the biggest district in the city.
Don't ever ask the question why reported numbers are they way they are. Oh-no just accept the media spin.
They are comparing Jan and Fed numbers against 2011? Well anyone remember this:
Hardy Chicago brought to standstill by blizzard
By Mary Wisniewski
CHICAGO | Wed Feb 2, 2011 6:54pm EST
(Reuters) - Chicago, a city that usually sneers at winter, was brought to a near standstill on Wednesday by a blizzard packing the third highest snowfall in the city's history.
Chicago public schools, which hadn't closed since 1999, were shut on Wednesday and will be closed again Thursday. Courts were closed. Five suburban commuter rail lines were down.
Lake Shore Drive, the city's main north-south thoroughfare, was closed and still littered with over 100 abandoned cars late Wednesday afternoon. Many side streets were impassable, and even plowed arterial streets and highways were eerily empty.
---
The highest snowfall on record in Chicago was in January 1967, with 23 inches, followed by January 1999 with 21.6 inches. The 2011 blizzard's total was 20.2 inches at O'Hare Airport, according to the National Weather Service. The blizzard is expected to be followed by bitter cold, with wind chill temperatures forecast to plunge to
20 to 30 below zero Wednesday night.
---
On northbound Lake Shore Drive Tuesday night, accidents involving a Chicago Transit Authority bus and other cars stopped traffic on the northbound lanes, stranding about 900 cars on their way home.
STRANDED
Rescue efforts were hampered by blowing snow and waist-high drifts. Some people were in their cars until early this morning, though no serious injuries were reported.
Some of those stranded complained that help did not come fast enough. Asked why the city did not close Lake Shore Drive in anticipation of the storm, Mayor Richard M. Daley's chief of staff, Ray Orozco, said it was necessary to allow commuters a way home to keep thousands of cars off city streets.
"I believe it was the right decision to make," Orozco said.
Rahm Emanuel, the former White House chief of staff who is the front-runner in the race to be the next Chicago mayor, criticized the city's response and said a "comprehensive review" was needed
"We need to get to the bottom of what happened last night on Lake Shore Drive -- with hundreds of passengers stranded for hours, it's clear that there were mistakes made that we can never let happen again," said Emanuel.

Anyone know when BFD/P Day sellback checks are coming out?

Yeah pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. It's not like there was a significant event or anything that occurred in Feb 2011 that would of made it a statistical outlier right?

City releases blizzard 911 calls
By Cynthia Dizikes | Tribune reporter
April 15, 2011
The phone calls came one after another.
A woman’s car had run out of gas and the heat no longer worked. A man said his legs felt like they had begun to freeze. Another woman worried that her diabetic father had been stuck without food and water for eight hours.
A small sample of calls made to Chicago’s emergency responders during February’s record-setting blizzard reveals increasing frustration and fear from people who were trapped for hours on Lake Shore Drive.
----
The agency’s announcement came after it released a subset of some 680 calls that were placed regarding conditions on Lake Shore Drive.
In many of the released recordings, the call takers are polite but can offer the callers little help other than to take their information.

Remember how Rahm called for an investigation?
About 12 months later mass layoffs at the OEMC setting us all up for a crisis that he can use later to further his political ambitions.
600 calls from people stranded on LSD alone not to mention what the arterial streets were like and these pour excuses for journalist just put it out there no questions asked.
THANK YOU! To the Anonymous poster (12:20 AM) who informed us of the new Department Directive, General Order 09-01-06. I was RDO yesterday, and today, so if I didn't check my trusty friend SCC's blog regularly, I would have been unaware of "Use of Social Media Outlets," effective 09-March-2012, which states, in part:
"V. Department Members' Personal Use of Social Media Outlets
C. Department members are prohibited from posting, displaying, or transmitting:
1. any communications that discredit or reflect poorly on the Department, its missions or goals."
Over the past many months, I have enjoyed exercising my God-Given Right to Freedom of Speech, a right given to all of us by our Divine Creator, this God-Given Right then merely affirmed by the U.S. Constitution. I have proudly posted my personal opinions regarding the conduct of the current Superintendent, Garry McCarthy (including his absolutely glorious performance at St. Sabina Church were he schooled us all on the REAL cause of urban black gun violence...."goverment-sponsored racism"), and his predecessor, Jody Weiss, as well as former Mayor Daley, and current Mayor Emanuel, and various Department policies. These comments were ALWAYS posted as a private citizen, from my personal computer, while at home, off-duty. I have always considered it a RIGHT to sign my own name, Randy Stevens, and my unit of assignment, the Fighting 018th,
as guaranteed by the First Amendment. I'm aware I am the only officer still on the job that posted his real name, always, never as "anonymous," but hell, I figured the First Amendment trumps all....silly me!
This new General Order, 09-01-06, states that even as off-duty private citizens, we are denied the right to make any comments about the Department or its policies, unless it is 100% complimentary of, and completely supportive of, the Department, and its "missions or goals."
There have been MANY times in the past history of the Chicago Police Department, thoroughly documented in books, articles, and Federal Court-Ordered Consent Decrees, in which the Department has Wilfully and Intentionally violated the First Amendment (and other) Civil Rights of the citizens of Chicago. These past violations have cost the city treasury millions of dollars in justified lawsuits against the Department and its often reckless and criminal Exempt Members, who felt they could do ANYTHING they wanted, to violate citizens' rights, because of their clout-heavy status and political connections. These past Civil Rights Violations, at the time they were concocted by, and implemented by, the Exempt Members of the Department, were ALSO official "missions and goals" of the Department!
So according to this new General Order released yesterday, if the Department creates and implements "missions and goals" which are Civil Rights Violations, and are dishonest, immoral, ignoble, reckless and/or criminal in nature, we as members of the Department (but also private citizens when off-duty), are FORBIDDEN to utter a single word of any illegalities or improprieties being committed by the current Exempt Staff. We are to "shut up" and do what we are told, to simply obey orders without question.
The Nazi military personnel of WWII who violated others' rights used that "just obeying orders" defense at the Nuremburg Trials, and they were EXECUTED, because obeying unlawful and immoral orders is not a defense!
The Horrific, Orwellian World of
"1984" has arrived, 28 years late.
Big Brother is Watching You.
BREAKING NEWS:
Commute times on Lake Shore Drive are down 60% from this time last year too
wrt: "...Fraternal Order of Police counters that a rise in murders and shootings shows the patrol officers aren’t doing enough to prevent violent crime..."
----------
Maybe the patrol officers are too busy fixing the "broken windows" to prevent the "violent" crimes
I believe them. Why would they lie about that?
They closed the beaches when it got too hot and dangerous near the cool water too, so they have a track record of responsibly putting the truth out to the public.
Transparency is a good thing.
We don't need stinkin' patrol cars. Me and my partners wear capes. We FLY.. Uhuh, they call us Super Cops..
File under: 911 -- Don't call us we'll call you.
I'm reminded of this McCarthy double talk from last year..
---
"There are too many 911 calls in the system for us to respond to every one," he told the crowd at Kennedy-King College in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood. "And if our officers are tied up on a lower-level priority, then they're not available to reply to your shots-fired call."
-----
So CPD can't get to the priority one calls because they are tied up with lower priority calls.
So what is Mac's solution? In the same interview we get this :
----------
"Meanwhile, since he was appointed earlier this summer, McCarthy has repeatedly vowed to make "quality of life" arrests -- such as noise violations or public drinking, as two examples -- a priority for his force. McCarthy has claimed such "sweating the small stuff" helps prevent larger crimes, like shootings, before they happen."

What a crock. How do they think that they can control anything like this that is done outside of the department. I see this one being pulled in the not so distant future.
Actually, they can, and police officers have been fired successfully across the United States due to inappropriate comments and pictures on their Facebook accounts. So... you go be a hero and challenge this order, everyone else will appreciate your test case here in the city.
The numbers are probably the figment of someone's hyper-active, hollywood fueld, imagination and aren't worth the wasted paper, electrons and photons to view them. So, just who is responsible for this situation and what is being done to make sure this never happens again?
RE: My P.S. on Post #28 on THEE RANT at ATTN: CPD WHISTLEBLOWERS
It may be wise to review the following SCOTUS decisions on your First Amendment rights as an active employee of the CPD. Enter the citation into the GOOGLE search engine to read the following:
461 US 138 Connick v. Myers
391 US 563 Pickering v. Board of Education
429 US 274 Mt. Healthy BOE v. Doyle
547 US 410 Garcetti v. Ceballos
I would also urge potential CPD whistleblowers to go to a law library and read Chapter 5, pp. 73-85 ["Overview of a Whistleblower Claim"] of "The Labor Lawyer's Guide to the Rights and Responsibilities of Employee Whistleblowers" by Steven M. and Michael D. KOHN, ISBN: 0-89930-207-6, Quorum Books.
I am NOT an attorney. Just "Been There; Done That". As far as I'm concerned, I'd be ecstatic if a score of (NYPD) Adrian Schoolcraft clones emerged from the CPD woodwork.
we got these hair gels blue lighting it to barking dog calls up norff--- no wonder the response times are going down--- it could also have something to do with the return of the inspectors....
Did any of these merit stars take into consideration the fact that we had a very mild winter. Last year we had so much snow it took 10 minutes to go a mile sometimes.
To attritube the response to McGoof is plain stupid. No, we do not respond faster because McGoof.
CPD Hockey team takes on Jfed's fbi guys at the Edge in Bensenville tonight at 7pm. Come out and support our team for a good cause. All proceeds go to HonorFlight Chicago. These folks fly our WWII vets to their memorial in DC for the day. The cost of each flight is $55,000. The Hawks have donated raffle gifts and Tommyhawk will be there. You never know who else will show! Cost is $20. adults & $10 children
Brothers and Sisters in Blue our Union has sold us out after endorsing Madigan. We are alone in a city that is corrupt. Please SCC let's coordinate the following actions. Let's use our First Amendment rights and protest against the city and the Union. Sorry FOP you are not invited.
CPD and CFD have always worked together. We both have made the ultimate sacrifice for this city and no dancing politician who wears tights will ever understand us. We need to stand together against the Mayor and his minions. Especially with all the crooked city, state and federal hacks that have been indicted What we need to worry about is our contract. Both CPD and CFD. We will get a raise and give nothing back to this city. When Daley gives back everything he took from this city including all the money he spent on
trying to secure the Olympics, selling the meters and the sky way along with all the corruption. We will not take a pay cut or give up furlough days or a sick leave policy. Last time I checked CPD and CFD are the ones that have made the ultimate sacrifice for this city not some alderman.
I suggest CPD and CFD march together to two places in our full dress uniforms. No posters no loud speakers. Just pure silence. Once at City Hall in the middle of the street we line up in precision and we turn our backs on the Office of the Mayor and then march straight to Daley's House. Once there again we turn our back on Daley's House to remind him of what we think of him till this day. Imagine thousands of CPD and CFD officers in our dress blues with our white gloves marching together. Showing our honor, our professionalism but most of all reminding this city who keeps the predators at bay, who runs into burning buildings or who brings the dead to life. SCC could easily organize this movement and every boss should walk side by side with the troops. Please publish this SCC. Sometimes all it takes is our presence and our uniforms will command respect. Remember dress uniforms for both CPD and CFD and upon arrival we turn our back to both the new Mayor and the past. Everyone knows they both in bed with each other. We will make sure the media across the country hears our voices without making a sound. Our Union belongs to the politicians not to us.
Wow just saw a copy of your new GO on social media. City of Chicago under king Rahm are no fans of free speech
And this little gem was released when? Right after the NY Compstat meltdown! Coincidence? Not fuckin' likely! Just the first instance in the disinformation salvo that is going to be used to justify CPD's Compstat fuckcircus.
The Frank and Fran show will continue until the birdcage liners they shill for collapse. It can't come too soon.
God, I want to barf. Downtown continuously feeds the public bullshit. It never stops
Thats Funny; Back logs everynight. something like 12-20 jobs stacked, then stacked again. How in the hell can response times be better than last year? lies.......
They can only keep track of response times to those calls where the officer hits the "on scene" button on the computer. they can't possibly keep track of the calls where that button is not pushed. And how many people actually do that?
Think about it. . . "person with a gun" call. do you think that someone is going to say, "oh look there's the guy with the gun. let me hit the onscene button so the dispatchers know i am here."
Bull. the real muckrakers will ask, "how do you determine these response times?" and where do their stats come from? and why is this the first year response times are being reported to the public.
More smoke and mirrors.
The time from dispatch to arrival is relevant to the 9000 CPD members but it's the time from taking the call to arrival on-scene that is relevant to the other voters, businesses and tax/fee/fine payers. For some reason, those numbers didn't get reported. Anybody at the Reader watching ???
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAA!
they were running out of cars yesterday to give jobs to and its only march. wait till summer.
no snow , mild winter helps too
Es ist KompfStaffel !!!
.
Well you know...... see the officer(s) were on scene really probably most likely were walking up when they called out, but actually when they put thier foot on the brake is when they really were on scene.... or maybe we can make it when they see the address.... yeah thats it, so lets make it when their within a block of the scene.... wow looky here, we did it!
And since everyone is bitchin bout the homicide rate, lets just redo a few of those as natural causes...since in the spring, it's a natural thing, ya know bees come out, flowers bloom and bullets fly..... shazam..we did it! Crimes down.
Smoke and Mirrors... Believe what you see and not what your told.
Statistics, damned statistics and lies. This is an example of the later two. First, we all know very few of us hit the "on scene" button or tell the dispatcher we arrived. Where are they getting this info? Also, is this time from dispatch. AS has been pointed out, it is not necessarily or response time to the job that is really a problem as most of us do respond quizzically to in progress jobs. It is the amount of time the job has been in the que. Has this time gone down? Also, weather does play a roll. It is easier to get around when there is no snow.
98% of statistics are made up on the spot 52% of the time.
Lights and siren all the way , but remember do not speed and slow down or stop for all traffic signals , the life you save may be your own or your partners
God Bless the CPD
Hey Scc, just read the New Social Media directive on the cpd website that was issued 09 mar 2012. Pretty much what they are saying is that facebook, twitter, myspace and any BLOGS that you comment on or post on are subject to disciplinary action if it is ANYTHING about the department... good or bad. If anyone is found operating a blog without the consent of the cpd which has topics regarding cpd and posts any official documents, recordings emblems etc can be terminated.. Just sayin scc, the department is turning up the heat. Be careful because if your ever found out it will not end well. Until then, keep on keepin on SCC!!!
We need stats on who calls who to give this info and why,the why is Rham looks good, the truth would make him look bad so whoever is lying for him is in his pocket! Spin it the way I want it spun! The police are actually doing a better job with less,Amazing isn't it,This city could most likely be run better without you Mayor, amazing isn't it!
How can response times be improving when they hold jobs for 5 min, sometimes more before dispatching them? I love how we can get a call, and arrive within 2-3 mins and get a complainant who says they called 20 min ago. It makes us look like we are late but in actuality we just got the call. Even when a job is dispatched promptly, there is always a 3-5 min lag time between the call taker who gets the initial call and the dispatcher assigning the job. I don't know where they get half of these call takers- they classify a robbery as a theft, and argument as a domestic battery. Then again, half the time the people who call 911 can't speak English anyway.
Department members are prohibited from posting, displaying, or transmitting:
1. any communications that discredit or reflect poorly on the Department, its missions or goals.
umm Supe?? Im pretty sure you guys handle this one all by yourselfs...
"Faster response times" compared to five minutes ago.
Hell, thirty years back you had faster response times on noise complaints than you do today on a lot of felonies-in-progress.
Reminds me of the Loyola study on "homicide in Chicago" -- they started it in 1990 or so so that no one would see the catastrophic, unbelievable rise that occurred in the 1960s as "social engineering" really began to take hold.
Like the old song went, "Gotta make it real compared to what?"
You're talking about seconds. Hardly a great reduction in response time.
Of course the mild winter had nothing to do with the improved response times. Rigggghhhhtttt.
could the weather have something to do with it.
I can get to calls faster if my 2 wheel dive tahoe isn't stuck in the snow
SCC, You better read up on your GO's you are in violation of the newest one. Let the witch hunt begin! Nobody speaks out against this regime, they will be silenced at once!
Ok so who from within the Department is now the Social Media Police?
We have a hard time getting video from the news media when they film it.
Without any criminal warrant who is going to provide the information needed to sustain any alleagtions of a disobeying a department order regarding Social Media.
I love the Policy of this order, Department members have constitutional rights but can be diciplined for violating this order.
Watch out Facebook, SSC and Shaved
Rumor has it that the new detective squads that will be assigned to each district are being formulated right now and will be in place by 1 April. That will relieve the overcrowding in each area.
Actually, they can, and police officers have been fired successfully across the United States due to inappropriate comments and pictures on their Facebook accounts. So... you go be a hero and challenge this order, everyone else will appreciate your test case here in the city.
really? and the Chicago LT..who slammed the city..and they left him alone for fear of Lawsuit..guess what?? yeah try and fire me !!!! chicken shit...
What a crock. How do they think that they can control anything like this that is done outside of the department. I see this one being pulled in the not so distant future.

It is an established fact that if you post derogatory information about your employer in a social media outlet and they can identify you they can discipline you. People do lose their jobs for this. Be careful.
3/10/2012 12:20:00 AM
All the other City Departments are doing that now.
Office of Compliance is a joke with their "rules" prohibiting employees from this and that off duty.
OT:
WTF!!!!
My shit pig neighbors have had a raging kegger going since 9AM!
2 fights in the backyard and teens pissing already....and thats just the women!
They're prepping for Southside Irish tomorrow. I live 2 blocks off of the parade route, anybody else have SSI BS starting yet?
Ladies and Gentlemen, the gauntlet has been thrown re: the new G.O. regarding social media outlets. Now, I'm not suggesting any kind of ether anarchy nor internet insurrection but heck, I just can't turn my back on a challenge. Me and mi abogado have had a little discussion already. Sooooooooooo, think I'll have me a little fun. Join Me?
response time, from when?.....time that the caller calls, or the time that the call taker sends the call to the dispatcher, or the time that the call sits in the queue, until the dispatcher reads, or sends the call out (does that include the time that multiple assignments sit and are assigned (stacked assignments, as it is referred to) for a field unit until they get to each one of those assignments, i.e., Beat XXX gets five assignments at the same time,,,,OEMC shows them as dispatched, but....there's no way one car can handle five calls at one time...they go from one, to another, sometimes 15 min, 30 minutes, an hour after the caller called.....so....the city again is full of bullshit
Everythings a Lie anyway with those running CPD, so really, what's the difference?
don't know about faster response times (huh?)....but.......
about admin folks.....this one, and that one....that one should be moved...
but: she is married to ------
okay: but what about -------
that person is....well, we have a business together.....
and on it goes......
This new G.O. will not suppress comments which some individuals may feel uncomfortable about. It may if fact have the reverse effect. Chicago Police Officers and those who support them are considerately more creative than those who are trying to suppress protected freedoms. To those who are critical of the current administration and its' executive staff, use discretion in your private opinions without submitting to their threats and intimidation. In this Orwellian city, if we don't stand up for the truth they will grind it (and us) under their heels.
To 3/10/2012 09:05:00 AM
stop it; some fool might believe your bullshit
This is just like the show The Wire. When the reporter just made stories up about ghetto events that werent even remotely true and ends up winning a journalism award for the stories. People are dum and believe stuff just because someone else wrote it anyway. Just look at the morons that believe some of the posts on here.

IN OTHER WORDS, don't say anything bad about the Corrupt Regime of Chicago or the underhanded politics and schemeing played in CPD, or in any other way tell the Truth about this entirely corrupt Regime. But it's OK for them to lie to you Constantly, lie to the Media, and everyone else. In other words, you only have freedom of Speech guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution elsewhere, but not in the Commie Cabal of Chicago.
Where do they keep getting 12,000 officers, even with the white shirts we ain't got it, Why doesn't our pimpy police organizations say anything,
WRT: G.O. Sit Down and Shut Up on Social Media.

People are getting concerned about what civil rights Obama will take away once re-elected because he will not care about getting votes next term.
Whoever came up with the snow connection probably hit the real reason right on the head.
4 minutes vs. 3.46 minutes?
4:00 vs 3:32 Big deal.

OT Take a look at the new General Order that came out on Friday.
G09-01-06 Use of Social Media Outlets
You can find it by going to http://directives.chicagopolice.org/directives/ and then search the name of it.
The order is no big deal.
Tells you that you cannot use Department property, be that images, information, software, etc without prior approval.
Warns you not to discuss any current cases, recent police actions or on-going investigations...all pretty obvious. Think before you post.
Never Twitter when you're bitter!
Because it CAN come back to bite you in the arse. So be extremely careful what you post on your private FaceBook or Twitter pages.
Faster response times with 3500 coppers less than say 5 years ago. With even more calls, because now everyone has a cell phone. Yea right! So I started before the Beeper era and there were plenty of calls and we responded as we did.
Now 20 years later and with cell phones that even the homeless have we have a faster response time than we did 20 years ago?
Back in the day you had to drop dime, as in use the pay phone. Now it's instantaneous.
In theory we are getting more excessively crappy calls, with an inability to actually screen them for a real Police Emergency and we have approx 3500 less police and 3000 less civilians working for the Dept..
IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.
BUT I'M GLAD WERE DOING SUCH A GOOD JOB REGARDLESS.
The Battle of Athens:
Interesting history here...give yourself some time, it takes 13 minutes.

Wow just saw a copy of your new GO on social media. City of Chicago under king Rahm are no fans of free speech

This comment is great, where does it say that we can stop our wives or girlfriends from posting comments about anything?
Not that our wives or girlfriends would post anything anyway.
Off Topic, Blue Lights are nice and shiny and should be reserved for 10-1's. BTW the order says they may be used in certain situations, but must always be used in an IVC traffic stop. I don't believe there is an order that orders you to use blue lights to GO to any call. But my researchers out there will tell.
Be safe.
Yeah, and my dick is getting bigger everyday.

Name it.
So those internet offers of future enlargement are authentic then?
I always thought the FOP should hire a stats expert and ask to examine McCarty's "crime stat data". Let's see exactly what he's using to sell the lie that crime is down.
400 po s going before Nato, 50 sgts. was a umber being thrown around, any truth?
Of course, we are responding faster, except for the people are victims of crime. JUST ASK THEM HOW THEIR RESPONSE TIME WAS!!
I concur. I'm usually the one advocating togetherness, unity and peace, but since we, as a group of individuals, cannot unite, then we are doomed.
A house divided, cannot stand.
A. Lincoln.
Allowing our citizens to Conceal and Carry would take a great bite out of the response time problems. Our own citizens could do the up front work for us and we could scoop in and make arrest and cart to bad guys off to jail.
McGoof does not care about the police or any district for any matter. We got no quota and that should be reflected. If 011 really means it then reflect it, empty words mean NOTHING. And that's what amazes me, people still go out there and risk it all when got the worst legal defense, useless FOP and we get sold out every single time and hand over like nothing to IAD. Go do your job when the time comes and it is necessary, but DO NOT go out of your way because all you gonna get is a ride to callback for BS accusations and no one will help you. So 011, let the 011 area of community show its colors in the streets, maybe then you will regarded better. Becareful out there.
