Another Haz-Mat

  • Chicago firefighters were called to the Ogden Dstrict police station on the West Side this morning after several officers reported irritation to their eyes and throat, officials said.

Fumes from a cleaning solution apparently caused the problem at the station at 3315 W. Ogden Avenue, said Police News Affairs [...].

A Level 1 Hazmat situation was called around 9 a.m.....

Three officers and three other people at the station had complaints of irritation, but only one officer was taken to an area hospital for observation.

We're going to go out on a limb and imagine the cleaning crew mixed up a couple of things that aren't supposed to be in contact with each other except in a well ventilated area, and even then it isn't recommended.

WOMAN DIES AFTER INHALING FUMES AT MCDONALDS
A woman pulled from the bathroom of a McDonald's Wednesday died early Thursday morning after being exposed to fumes. Another woman, 56, remained hospitalized in good condition. Nine people were sent to the hospital with difficulty breathing after inhaling fumes in the McDonald's after breathing a toxic mix of chemicals used to clean the bathrooms. Both victims above were found unconscious about noon in the McDonald's women's bathroom. Three firefighters, five McDonald’s customers and one employee were also sent to the hospital. Firefighters were alerted to the fumes after a restaurant patron stayed in the bathroom for more than 10 minutes. Her husband got worried and asked a McDonald’s employee to check on her. The employee found her unconscious and called 911. An employee had mixed three different cleaning products in the same sprayer.

How many people have allergies. It could be the change of weather, food, or something else. Maybe that person doesn't want to be out in the front line for Nato, and this a way to do it. But who knows.

hicago Police Head Raises Money for CAIR

The Islamist pressure campaign against major law enforcement agencies is bearing fruit. They have put the NYPD on the defensive, thanks to some help from deceitful articles in the New York Times. And now, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy has even agreed to speak at a fundraiser for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a group that the FBI has officially cut ties with over its links to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
The Investigative Project on Terrorism broke the story that McCarthy met with officials from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), where he promised that the Chicago Police Department would not use the surveillance tactics that CAIR has lashed out at the NYPD for using. Outrageously, McCarthy even agreed to speak at a fundraiser for CAIR’s branch in Chicago. The event will honor Kifah Mustapha, an imam whose bid to become the Illinois State Police’s first Muslim chaplain was torpedoed when his links to Hamas came to light.
CAIR was labeled by the federal government as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, a charity found to be a Hamas front used for fundraising. In 2007, the said that, “From its founding by Muslim Brotherhood leaders, CAIR conspired with other affiliates of the Muslim Brotherhood to support terrorists” and “the conspirators agreed to use deception to conceal from the American public their connections to terrorists.”
In 2009, the FBI stopped working with CAIR on outreach to the Muslim community. CAIR lost its fight to have its designation as an “unindicted co-conspirator” lifted and on July 1, 2009, District Court Judge Jorge Solis ruled that there was “ample evidence” tying CAIR to Hamas to justify the label.

Word is the LT who was taken to the hospital, was told by the ER doctor to never go back into the 010 District building!!! Maybe the whole of CPD will be IOD for the NATO games.......

Office and work spaces in that building get to about 77-79 degrees with little ventilation and it is terrible for officers trying to do work going in and out of the weather in body armor.

The situation could be a lot better according to the building engineers if the city would pay it's bills and they could get the parts (something called an actuator) to fix the system. Instead it spends thousand$ on the gas bills to overheat areas of that newer station.

With all the other things wrong there it would be a real news story about the "City that Doesn't Work".

Never had a bad reaction to anything our janitors have used but I've gotten splitting headaches and raw throat from smelling the nasty dope in our dope safe. The safe is apparently as porous as Swiss cheese! It's gotten so bad that sometimes even the citizens inquire as to what that terrible smell is.
Only the best for us. I say we put the dope safe in the DSS'S office, or better yet the Admin area. See how long they'd put up with the noxious fumes.
