Number Games

Now we understand where Rahm is getting half the numbers he keeps claiming are "redeployed" to the streets:
  • ....interesting development that was discussed at 35th street. Seems like Chief of Patrol Eugene Williams has been ordered to cut all district front office staff down to the bare minimum of two. There will be no more PO's used as time keepers once the system is automated come April 2012.

Combined with this:

  • ...in our district we have sworn full duty sec'y, assistant sec'y, timekeeper, review bid,and review relief guy (has same rdo as review guy-doesnt help- and sometimes we have 10 crimes reported in a day) plus a full duty sworn crossing guard supervisor (for 6 guards) and altho the watch has to fill 4 crossings (which lost guards) the full duty sworn officer does NOT do crossings..

You should see how many people are still working behind the desk in the old 019 District. With supervisors, there must have been at least 7-8 people trying hard to look busy. Same with 23 or shall I say the new 019, at least 4 P.O.'s sitting behind the desk and the place was quiet as a graveyard. Ridiculous how many people are still hidden in inside spots!
Evidently, we just keep cutting the same spots over and over and when no one is looking, fill them up again. Then the Department "cuts" the spots and Rahm gets to count the same two or three people in every district three or four times each.

We understand why this is done because for a district to run smoothly, you actually need a few inside people, but some places are beyond ridiculous.

In my unit they just put them down on the A&A's with a beat number and a car, but they never actually leave the building. Kudos to everyone pulling off this scam. Always stay one step ahead of the game.

I can't speak for every watch, but I know the New 019 2nd watch guys has Desk guys from both sides working on sheets and learning the mechanics how each other did things and trying to come to a happy medium. Dickhead, Rahm forced everyone together without allowing for PO's to bid out before the move... Hence we are asshole to elbow with the next guy. My first day their we had so many PO's many cars were riding 10-4 So it does not surprise me there doubling up on the desk. It's a cluster fuck in the D unit too!

They should go out and earn their $130,000+ a year and earn their pay.

New 021 on 3rd watch desk is loaded with at least 15 people. All bragging on how they use to do work. All they do is eat and complain and get upset when u ask them a question. Another thing I thought there was no more watch secretary. Go on the street.

You should've seen 020 dist desk crew when capt Florenza was running the show. She had a bunch of 4 yr wonders on her desk, including one goofball that comes in to restock the w/c fridge on his rdos! The FEW times that the non bid desk cronies work a car they always manage to put themselves on a traffic car or the park car- both very cushy spots. Must be nice! OT - now that it is legal to record everything, somebody needs to start recording that bipolar ranting nut that calls herself a commander. She needs to see what an unprofessional lunatic she really is while she yells and demeans her officers during roll call. Would love to see that on youtube! I wouldn't trust her to run an ant farm, let alone a police district.

speaking of the "new 019" how about all the people in the commanders office and the caps office. There's so many people in the caps office that their office is twice the size of the tact office. And the commanders people, holy crap. There's gotta be 10 people minimum hiding up there. Minimum. What do they do??? We make the same amount of money as them. What do they do to earn the same check as us. It's sickening.

009 has got quite a few sworn officers hidden up in the commanders Admin office. In fact there's so many that they can split shifts and often simply forget to come to work.
There's a sworn P.O. as a timekeeper in addition to the civilian one and a sworn crossing guard supervisor and a sworn Compstat number generator girl etc.
Come on Dave you're paranoid about everything else and this is right under your nose.

Get your facts straight dumb ass. Since the changeover last Sunday, There has been only 2 bid spot POs working the desk, one for bonding and one for walk-ins, with 1 supervisor, period. That is what downtown wanted and what they got. Know what you're talking about before you put it on the blog, you desk person wannabe. LOL

Been goin on forever.

Back in the day, before CAPS, we had S.C.I.P. Teams, (Street Crime Impact Program). These were guys in uniform riding unmarked cars, that basically operated each day at the DC's desire.

Occasionally, all the SCIP Teams in an area would report to one district to put a concentrated effort against larger gang problems that existed in an effort to "obliterate" them. Funny thing though... Each of the Area's SCIP Teams would return to their districts with a complete roster of the persons arrested in the 'sweep' and the total number of arrests would get claimed FIVE TIMES!

If there were 20 arrests made, FIVE DIFFERENT SCIP Teams EACH took credit for 20 arrests (or 100 arrests).

If 4 guns were recovered, FIVE SCIP Teams showed a recovery of 4 guns EACH (or 20 guns recovered). Well, you get the picture. I'm sure this practice hasn't totally ended. AND, it was coming from higher up, this multiple counting of activity.

Any wonder why the FBI refuses to count Chicago's crime statistics in their national crime database?

It's called The Chicago Way/Math!

inside spots should be reserved for working coppers that have say 20-25+ years on that aren't as fast or strong as they used to be. have been beat up and dragged and spit on and mother fucked for a long career and need a place to slow down a little bit. instead, inside spots are used for heavy coppers with juice or pretty girls that the wc wants to watch walk back and fourth from his office. some of these inside people never see the street, are and will never be "the police" but get the same check as me and the rest of the guys on the front lines our whole career.

I just wish the media would go over to the Belmont and Western and take a look at how many inside people are still working there 24hrs a day. It's business as usual and no extra bodies have been added to the street like Rahm and GMAC said on the news. The only difference is the coppers that worked the street every day already now have lockers in the old 023. same utility bills same manpower inside at the old 019. They now use the call sign 019 west on the air.

Funny how the actual OFFICERS who work in these "consolidated" districts all tell the same story of clusterfucks, not enough cars to put the bodies, people going home because they're ain't nowhere to put them, etc.

Yet, for some reason, all the gold pricks stood up at the microphone at the last CumStain meeting and told McShithead how everything was going so "smoothly" with minimal "bumps".

I guess the view looks different when you're busy sucking on the asshole of a jersey punk to keep your pathetic job.

If I needed to criticize the dept and get some info on the ins and outs of our business I would look on this blog....loose lips sink ships,a wise man knows when to keep his or her mouth shut....a wise man keeps his words few, indeed we all make many mistakes for if we could control our tongues we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in many ways,we can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth, and a small rudder makes a huge ship turn whereever the pilot chooses even though the winds are strong!A tiny spark can set a great forest on fire and the tongue is a flame of fire!

The merge between old 019 and 023 has happened, and it will probably take a month to get the merge "under control". STOP bitching about who got what or who is where. The new 019 is now the largest District in the city. There are about 400 officers, and about 20 civilians. When we do vehicle inspection, you have tons of cars and equipment to inspect. Eventually, as we always do, we will adjust to this change. Old 023 has to adopt to the influx of more officers (it used to be very quiet in the building), and everyone that came from old 019 has to adopt to the new location (driving to/from, finding their way around the building). Just give it a few months, and we will be back to a "big happy family". However, everyone should STOP pointing fingers, and second guessing what other officers are doing...PEOPLE ARE SIMPLY TRYING TO COPE WITH THIS CHANGE, WHICH WAS BROUGHT UPON US BY OUTSIDERS.

Very well put, Sir.

I'd like to add to your statement; I've watched the desk crew in the old 023. Yes, sometimes there is a lull at the desk, but for the most part they work more than anyone of us that's on the street.

Do you doubt it? Try working the desk for just one period. You'll be begging to get back in a beat car.
