Revenue Screws Up; Rahm Makes Good
They had pulled over and parked their cars so they could get out and pay tribute as the funeral procession of a slain Beverly Marine rolled past — and more than a few of them wound up getting ticketed.
An embarrassed City Hall on Friday ordered parking enforcement aides to “immediately” stop ticketing the cars of people who turned out to honor Cpl. Conner Lowry, a Brother Rice graduate, during the Southwest Side funeral, city officials said in a statement.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel was “livid” after learning about the tickets, NBC5 Chicago reported.
“The city recognizes these vehicles were parked temporarily under special circumstances to honor a fallen soldier,” the city Revenue Department said in a statement. “As soon as this was brought to the city’s attention, parking enforcement aides were instructed to stop immediately and complied with this directive.
“All tickets issued in the vicinity during the time of the procession have been voided. We express our sincerest condolences to the family of Corporal Conner Lowry as all of us grieve his passing.”

I don't think Rahm was that livid about the tickets. I think he was more livid about the potential backlash of a lot of cops writing tickets around all the black churches and stirring up the reverends.
I am sure if it was a black veteran and white cops or a white DOR ticket writer wrote tickets, the Cook County State's Attorney would be filing a hate crime.
This city and county are disgusting. Politicians better start pandering to those who pay the bills - not only in taxes, but with their family's lives, instead of those who just drain resources.
I watched those Chicago revenue pukes write tickets to vehicles parked in front of Churches , while families attended midnight Christmas services in 014.

Im came on this job in 1990 when the CPD still was the peimier enforcement of laws in this city. Thanks to these democratic politicians ala RMD and 9.5 the CPD is on its final breath. Remember in the 90's when EMMD was ran by a Commander? Just before a Bulls Championship the Supt would call that Commander and order him to have every squad car up and running for the celebrations. Now EMMD would tell the Supt put in writing and send it to the Commish of Fleet management. Traffic Aides were under the umbrella of the CPD and now they belong to OEMC. Now you have Revenue telling a Commander of Police in his/her District that they cannot tell them to stop writing tickets. These alderfools and McCanIhave anotherbeer need to make it clear to Revenue that a Un Duty CPD Officer has the final say when and where parking enforcement action is to be taken when the CPD is in charge of an event! To top it off the media made it seem that it was the CPD writing those tickets.

Why don't you see US on a Sunday or Saturdays?
We are not Allowed OT/Comp Time Shifts on the weekends because this fucked up city would prefer to contract out to Clouted Companies for Contractors that are not union and make 50%+ less an hour than you or I do.
The Last time I was "Allowed" to volunteer for a Saturday 6am-2pm or Friday 7pm-9pm Shift...it was June 2009.

Are taxes collected on LINK cards, WIC, SafeLink, Section 8 vouchers, etc?
News to me. If that's truly the case than we're incurring cost to give away money just to collect it back again and redistribute it again. Can't say I'm surprised. And if you can't afford food, what are you doing owning a car?

About 7 years ago I had the pleasure of writing a ticket on a Dept of Revenue van. It was parked in a crosswalk in 019 while the little parking nazis piled out to go attack the neighborhood. As I stuck the ticket on the windshield, the driver said "Hey, you can't do that. We're out writing tickets." I said, "Me too." I thought for sure I'd catch some heat for it, but I never did. I'm sure it got thrown out, but it sure as hell felt good!

They write plenty of tickets in the "ghetto" and if no taxes are paid in the "ghetto" how can I apply for the same tax exemption everyone else that owns their home in the "ghetto" is getting since nobody pays taxes in the "ghetto."
By the way if you are sooooo concerned about the lack of ticket writing in the "ghetto" why don't you write some to make up for the difference!

No they are not numb nuts. The TSA is was created by Bush and have nothing to do with writing parking tickets at O'Hare or anywhere else.
